Abstract

New cytotypes of Pteris ensiformis var. victoriae and one cytotype of var. ensiformis are recorded from Indonesia: var. victoriae with 2n=58 (sexual diploid) from Gorontalo, North Sulawesi, and 2n=87 (triploid) from Lombok Island and Bogor, West Java; and var. ensiformis with 2n=116 (sexual tetraploid). The diploid is smaller than the triploid in plant size. Results indicate a cytological variation in var. victoriae, like in var. ensiformis.

Abstract

Wild species of begonia existed in remnant forest of Cibodas Botanic Gardens, but their diversity, distribution and ecological preference were not much known. Data of condition and habitat characteristic of wild begonia are important in their cultivation. The aims of this study are to inventory the diversity of wild begonias and their distribution habitat preference in remnant forest of Cibodas Botanic Gardens. Sample were collected from four remnant forest using exploration method. Analysis of vegetation where wild Begonia existed was conducted using 1x1 m plot in around every individu of Begonia found. The principle component analysis (PCA) was carried out using R program version 2.11.0. The result showed that 50% of the mountain Begonia in West Java can be found in remnat forest area. The light intencity, soil humidity and air humidity were highly correlated to distribution of wild Begonia. The microclimate conditions in remnant forest area are appropriate with habitat of Begonia.

Abstract

The wide distribution and high species diversity produce large variation in morphology, anatomy and genetics of local mangoes. Until now, most mango classification system is based on the generative character while the vegetative character is neglected. Inventory of mango cultivars in Subang rarely studied, therefore the purpose of this study is to development foundation of identification methods basedthe anatomy and morphology of leavesof mango cultivars of Subang. The data could futher develop as baseline information about mango cultivar diversity in Indonesia. During study, 21 mango cultivars found in Subang, West Java. Leave samples were collected from the field and soaked in 70% alcohol. Leaf anatomy preparats made by whole-mount method and paraffin. The shape and type, location, size, density and index of stomata were observed. The results showed high similarity of all sampels. There are three variations of vascular tissues on petioles, letter U shape (planoconvex),U lobed (highlyconvex) and round (circular) with the type of drus crystal form, small cubes, and prismatic. All cultivars have actinositic stomata and hypostomatatic leaves. It could be concluded that density, size and stomata index are less powerful to be apply as characters to identified cultivars of mangoes however the presence of oxalate crystals can be use to the grouping mango cultivars in Subang.

Abstract

Anatomical study on native Begonia in Cibodas Botanical Garden was conducted to determine their stomata types. Stomata 32 native Begonia were prepared by semi-permanent methods. Parameters observed in this study were stomata type, number, and size of stomata. The result showed that all Begonia species have anisocytic stomata and those stomata only found in abaxial leaves. Based on number of stomata, these Begonia can be classified into two groups: single stomata and single-grouped stomata. Generally, Begonia has a single stomata, however, single-grouped stomata is a determinate character of Begonia sect. Reichenheimia and sect. Diploclinium in CBG. The differences of stomata distribution in B. ozotothrix with other members of section Petermannia are needed to be clarified further.

Abstract

Students' awareness in conserving medicinal plants and the environment is still the focus of discussion among educators. Especially in students at vocational school levels who do not receive comprehensive Biology learning. The purpose of this study was to measure students' attitudes in conserving medicinal plants and the environment. The research method used is descriptive method with survey techniques. The study was conducted in March-April 2019 at Cipanas State 1 Vocational High School, Cianjur, West Java, Indonesia. The sample used was selected by simple random sampling, obtained as many as 104 students divided into 44 male and 60 female students. The results showed that the average score of students' attitudes was 76.47. The indicator with the highest score is related to the program of planting medicinal plants in the home yard. While the lowest indicators relate to conservation policies for medicinal plants and the environment. This is because the information received by students in terms of conservation policy is still need to be improve. The conclusion of this study is that the scores of student attitudes regarding the conservation of medicinal plants and the environment are good, but in some indicators still need to be improved.DOI: doi.org/10.24071/ijiet.2019.030202

Abstract

Personal data is often the target of irresponsible people to misuse. The theft is carried out to profit from the person who has the data. In addition to the theft of work files, theft is also carried out on video files. The theft of this file aims to find out what the contents of the video are. Someone has a private video recording that should not be known by others. Misuse of video files will be fatal for the owner of the video. Cryptographic techniques are needed in video security. Caesar Cipher algorithm can help users in securing the video file. The Base64 algorithm can be used to change the ASCII 256 format to Base64 so that it is easy to send or store in a storage media. This algorithm will make the file structure simpler so that it can be displayed and saved. By applying the Base64 algorithm and Caesar Cipher on video files, the security and confidentiality of the files will be guaranteed
