Abstract

This research was addressed to study the effect of plant growth media composition and nutrients concentration on yield of Cucumis melo L. The research was designed in complete factorial test of 4x4 with three replicates. Mixed growth media of bokashi:cocopeat:husk charcoal were tested in four compositions, i.e. 90%:5%:5% (M1), 80%:10%:10%(M2), 70%:15%:15% (M3) and 60%:20%:20% (M4) respectively. The other tested factor was nutrients concentraion that consists of four levels, i.e. control/no nutrient given (K0), 2 g/L (K1), 4 g/L (K2) and 6 g/L (K3). The Action 434 variety of Cucumis melo L. seedlings were then transplanted into 10 kg’s polybag and allowed to grow till harvested. The results showed that Chlorophyll content of M1 plants were higher than others, but the highest sugar content was resulted by M3 plants, and the highest thick of flesh fruit was resulted by interaction 60% bokashi:20% cocopeat:20% husk charcoal with 4 g/L nutrient concentration.

Abstract

Kedelai  Baluran  adalah  salah  satu  varietas    unggul  hasil  peneliti  Universitas  Jember  yang  dilepas pemerintah Republik Indonesia dengan SK Menteri Pertanian Nomor 275 tahun 2002. Varietas  tersebut berdaya hasil tinggi (2,5-3,5 Mg ha-1), berbiji besar (13-17 g/100 butir) dan berumur pendek (umur panen 80 hari setelah tanam). Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengkaji produktivitas dan kualitas    kedelai varietas Baluran yang ditanam di tiga lokasi dengan variasi ketinggian tempat. Lahan  penelitian adalah  sawah dan lahan kering yang disawahkan. Sifat kimia tanah yang dianalisis meliputi pH (H2O), C-organik, P2O5, Kalium (K), Calsium (Ca), Natrium (Na), Magnesium (Mg), Kapasitas Tukar Kation (KTK), Kejenuhan Basa (KB) dan populasi rhizobia. Parameter yang diamati meliputi   tinggi tanaman, jumlah polong setiap tanaman,  produktivitas potensial/hektar, berat biji/tanaman dan berat biji/ 100 butir serta kualitas biji untuk pangan (kadar protein,  lemak,  abu,  air dan  karbohidrat).  Hasil penelitian menunjukan: (1) sifa kimia tanah bervariasi (pH H2O rata-rata 6,5 , kadar C-organik sangat rendah hingga rendah dengan rata-rata 1,00 %, N total rendah hingga sedang dengan rata-rata 0,19%, P tersedia sangat rendah hingga rendah dengan rata-rata 13,46 ppm, KTK rendah hingga tinggi dengan rata-rata 21 me/100g dan KB rendah hingga tinggi dengan rata-rata 47,77% dan rata-rata populasi rhizobia 8,56), (2) keragaan tanaman bervariasi (tinggi tanaman 40,28 – 49,09 cm, jumlah polong/ pohon 27,50 – 63,67, produktivitas potensial 2,04 – 5,60 ton/ha, berat biji/tanaman 7,72 – 18,01 gram, berat biji/100 butir 14,15 – 16,71 gram) dan (3) kualitas biji varietas Baluran untuk bahan agroindustri pangan tidak kalah dengan kedelai impor. Kata Kunci : produktivitas, kualitas, keragaan tanaman.

Abstract

This research is based on the emergence of the 2013 curriculum which expects a learnng process that can make students actively construct their knowledge. The effectiveness of ARCSI learning models with a scientific approach can be seen from student learning outcomes, through 1) Student Worksheets (LKPD), 2) Test of learning outcomes. The results of the study show that the learning model developed is effective when viewed from students' mathematics learning outcomes. The level of effectiveness of the ARCSI learning model with a scientific approach obtained the results of LKIPD grades VII1 SMP N 7 and class VII1 SMP N 1 Ampek Angkek is categorized as effective with a mean of 75.017. The level of effectiveness of ARCSI learning models with a scientific approach obtained from the value of test questions on cognitive learning outcomes is categorized as effective with a mean of 61.38. Based on the hypothesis test for mathematics learning outcomes data can be drawn conclusions, namely: 1) Mathematics learning outcomes of class VII1 students (experimental class) is better than the mathematics learning outcomes of class VII4 students (control class) SMP N 7 Bukittinggi city; 2) Mathematics learning outcomes of class VII1 students (experimental class) are better than mathematics learning outcomes of class VII2 students (control class) Ampek Angkek N 1 junior high school in Agam district

Abstract

The issues in this study are how learning outcomes, learning motivation and student?s  interest  in mathematics learning material are being affected after applying classroom flipped learning         strategies with a scientific approach to class XI  grade students of SMK 2 Padangpanjang? Are student?s learning outcomes by applying classroom flipped strategies with the scientific approach are   better than the one that does not apply that method? This study aims to describe student?s learning outcomes, motivation, and interests in mathematics learning, and to see whether the experimental class learning outcomes are better than the control class. This research was conducted at SMK 2   Padang Panjang in the academic year 2017/2018. The sample is taken by using the random sampling technique which consisted of two sample groups, and each is consisted of 28 people. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the student?s mathematics learning outcomes are better than the previous one. In addition, student?s motivation towards mathematics learning is in a high level and  students' interests  as well.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the issues found in observations at school, where the daily teaching activities carried out by teachers show that; teaching and learning activities are classical, the teacher only stands or sits in front of the class, the direct relationship between the teacher and students is rare, and students tend to behave passively, such as coming, listening, reading and writing. To overcome this issues, the researchers conducted a research by applying a three-step type of cooperative learning model interview in learning mathematics in the class. The purpose of this study is to reveal the activities and learning outcomes of students after applying the three-step interview type cooperative learning model. From the results of the study it was found that the learning activities of students during the application of the three step interview cooperative learning model increased at each meeting. Thus it can be concluded that the mathematics learning outcomes of students with learning by applying a three-step interview type cooperative learning model is better than those who do not apply the techniques.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Tobacco is one of the seeds that can be stored for certain period. Seed storage is one of the ways in maintaining the viability of the seeds to meet the needs of the next planting period. Pillen seed technology has developed where in addition to increasing the size of seeds can improve the quality of seeds. Kaolin in pillen has an Al content which is suspected if absorbed by plants will inhibit the growth of tobacco seeds. Giving humic acid is expected to be able to play a role in binding Al, so that the level of Al content in the soil can be lowered so as not to cause toxins to plants. This study aims to determine the effect of pillen seed storage and application of humic acid on the growth of tobacco seedlings. This research used the factorial of complete randomized design (RAL) 2 × 3. The first factor of the concentration of humic acid consisted of without humic acid 0 ml / l and liquid humic acid 6 mL/L. The second factor for the shelf life of the top seeds is 3, 8 and 13 years. Humic acid concentration of 6 ml could support the growth of the tobacco seedlings Keywords : tobacco seeds, seeds saving,humid acid ABSTRAK Tembakau merupakan salah satu benih yang dapat disimpan dalam periode tertentu. Penyimpanan benih merupakan salah satu cara dalam mempertahankan viabilitas benih untuk memenuhi kebutuhan masa periode tanam yang selanjutnya. Teknologi benih pillen merupakan salah satu upaya untuk memperbesar ukuran benih dan memperbaiki mutu dan kualitas benih. Kaolin dalam benih pillen memiliki kandungan Al yang diduga apabila diserap tanaman akan menghambat pertumbuhan bibit tembakau. Pemberian asam humat diharapkan mampu mengikat Al, sehingga tingkat kandungan Al dalam tanah dapat diturunkan agar tidak menyebabkan racun bagi tanaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh lama penyimpanan benih pillen dan aplikasi asam humat terhadap pertumbuhan bibit tembakau. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) faktorial 2 × 3 . Faktor pertama konsentrasi asam humat terdiri atas tanpa asam humat 0 mL/L dan asam humat cair 6 mL/L. Faktor kedua lama simpan benih teriri atas 3, 8 dan 13 tahun. Konsentrasi asam humat 6 mL/L mampu meningkatkan pertumbuhan bibit tembakau. Kata Kunci : Benih tembakau, lama simpan, asam humat

Abstract

Eggplant is a plant that requires appropriate organic fertilization to produce quality fruit. Research on the effect of applying solid organic fertilizer on growth and the level of productivity of local eggplants is the main focus, especially related to growth and yield. The purpose of this study was to determine the growth and productivity of local eggplants against the provision of solid organic fertilizer carried out in paddy fields in Jember. The method used is a completely randomized design (CRD) of two factors, the first factor is the variety factor with 5 levels while the second factor is the factor of solid organic fertilizer consisting of 4 treatment levels so that there are 20 treatment combinations. Each treatment was repeated 3 times, so that there were 60 experimental unit units and each experiment unit consisted of 4 plants. The first factor is pruning with 5 levels including V1: eggplant Phiton, V2: Demak Ijo eggplant, V3: Bonar eggplant, V4: Rondha eggplant and V5: Inayah eggplant. The second factor is the treatment of solid organic fertilizer using 4 levels including P0: without solid organic fertilizer, P1: compost, P2: animal dung (kohe) goat, P3: cow kohe. The results showed that the interaction between eggplants with the trade name Inayah (V5) with the treatment of organic solid fertilizer for cow dung (P3) had optimal number of branches, productive interest and fruit weight. Local varieties of eggplants with the trade name Inayah (V5) have an optimal effect on plant height, number of leaves and productive fruit. The treatment of cow manure (P3) solid organic fertilizer has an optimal effect on plant height and productive fruit. Keywords: Germplasm, Local Eggplant, Organic Fertilizer.

Abstract

The fertilization management is one strategy to optimize the quantity and quality of rice production. Our study was aimedto investigate the effect of potassium fertilization several agronomical parameters andthe rate of head rice after milling process. The study was conducted from March 2018 to July 2018 in the Agrotechnopark experimental field University of Jember in District of Sukorambi, Jember. Randomized Block Design (RBD) was used with the frequency of potassium chlorice (KCl) fertilization asthe single factor. The conducted potassium treatments were as follows: without KCl fertilization (control), one-time KCl fertilization, two times KCl fertilization, three times KCl fertilization and each fertilization level was conducted by sixrepetitions. The agronomic parameters such as plant height, tiller number, flowering time, rate of productive tillers, grain number per panicle, weight of 1000 grains, and percentage of filled grain were analyzed and percentage of head rice rate was determined as quality parameter. Our results showed that different treatment of potassium did not significantly affect the plant height, tillernumber, flowering time, rate of productive tillers, total grains per panicle, and weight of 1000 grains. On the other hands, the percentage of filled grainand the rate of head rice after milling were significantly increased by potassium fertilization. Compare to the control treatment, three times potassium fertilization resulted 9.24% and 13.83% increase of filled grain and head rice after two times milling, respectively. Our result suggest that potassium fertilization is important for grainquality of Merah Wangi rice variety. Keywords: Merah Wangi, potassium fertilization, growth, physical quality.

Abstract

UPT Agrotechnopark as a partner of the PPUPIK program, has revenue-generating for developing ornamental plant commodities, especially orchids. Training orchid cultivation has been conducted to initiate society by learning about orchids for broadening development and orchid commercialization through empowering entrepreneurship-based programs, especially in Jember Regency. The orchid lovers’ community in Jember Regency has been chosen as a target in this community program. The orchid lovers’ communities have a high potential to develop orchid cultivation since they already have basic competency and experience for practicing orchid cultivation. These communities are easy to be motivated to play a role in orchid commercialization. Community service programs for orchid cultivation training need to be supported by people who already know about cultivation activities, especially orchid plants. This encourages the service team to choose the target community for orchid lovers in Jember Regency to develop products to increase the commercialization of orchid products so that the results are maximized. The targets that will be carried out are training about in vitro orchid cultivation, marketing strategies, crossing techniques, and orchid acclimatization. Community service activities in the form of orchid training can positively contribute to the community in increasing understanding of propagation techniques, orchid marketing strategies, and additional skills in orchid crossing techniques and acclimatization techniques. Training activities can be a provision for the community to play a role in increasing the commercialization of orchids, especially in Jember Regency. --- UPT Agrotechnopark sebagai mitra pelaksana Perguruan Tinggi Program Pengembangan Usaha Produk Intelektual Kampus (PPUPIK) memiliki revenue generating berupa pengembangan komoditi tanaman hias yaitu anggrek. Salah satu kegiatan yang dilakukan yakni melalui pelatihan anggrek. Kegiatan pelatihan anggrek  bertujuan untuk menginisiasi masyarakat untuk lebih mengenal anggrek sehingga dapat memperluas pengembangan dan komersialisasi anggrek melalui pemberdayaan masyarakat berbasis wirausaha terutama di Kabupaten Jember. Masyarakat pecinta anggrek di Kabupaten Jember dipilih sebagai target pada program pengabdian karena mempunyai potensi tinggi untuk pengembangan budidaya anggrek ditinjau dari segi minat dan wawasan pengetahuan tentang anggrek sehingga mudah untuk dibangun jiwa kewirausahaannya khususnya untuk komersialisasi anggrek. Program pengabdian untuk pelatihan budidaya anggrek sangat perlu didukung oleh masyarakat yang telah memiliki pengetahuan dasar kegiatan budidaya, khususnya tanaman anggrek. Hal ini mendorong tim pengabdi untuk memilih sasaran masyarakat pecinta anggrek di Kabupaten Jember dalam upaya pengembangan produk untuk meningkatkan komersialisasi produk anggrek agar hasilnya lebih maksimal.  Target yang akan dilakukan adalah pelatihan budidaya anggrek secara in vitro, strategi pemasaran, teknik persilangan dan aklimatisasi anggrek. Kegiatan pengabdian dalam bentuk pelatihan anggrek dapat memberikan kontribusi positif bagi masyarakat dalam meningkatkan pemahaman terhadap teknik perbanyakan, strategi pemasaran anggrek, dan tambahan ketrampilan tentang teknik persilangan dan teknik aklimatisasi anggrek. Kegiatan pelatihan dapat menjadi bekal bagi masyarakat untuk ikut berperan dalam upaya peningkatan  komersialisasi anggrek khususnya di Kabupaten Jember.
