Abstract

The purpose of this two-year research is to find methods and theories of soil cultivation for the Medan city drainage sediment which makes the city drainage shallow. Improving the environmental quality of Medan city by cultivating trench sediment soil into a horticultural planting medium. Obtaining a neat, comfortable and helpful city condition for the Government, especially the Public Works Office of Medam City. It will be avoided from flooding due to smooth city drainage and clean environment. The results of the study can be concluded that the activated charcoal treatment is used from a number of activated charcoal ingredients (Coconut Shell, Wood Sawdust Waste and Kendaga Karet) with measurement criteria namely char yield, water content, ash content, volatile content, carbon fish power, iodine absorption from as a whole it has a good value to be used as activated charcoal which has a value above the minimum limit, namely water content below the maximum value (<15%), ash content <10%, carbon binding capacity> 60%, evaporation power <25% and iodine absorption. > 750 mg. All of these parameters are in accordance with the national standard of SNI 06-3730-1995. The second conclusion is that the absorption of metals to heavy metalsPb, Cd and Cu, has a good ability even though it is small because the metal content from the start is below the quality standard, the concentrations tested are 0, 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9. While the best is obtained of the reduction rate in heavy metal Cd, and is 7 grams / kg of soil sample. Keywords:

Abstract

Many tropical islands, including Aruba, Seychelles, Mauritius, and Pacific Island countries, are entirely dependent on importing fossil fuels to meet their energy demands. Due to global warming, improving energy use efficiency and developing regionally available renewable energy resources are necessary to reduce carbon emissions. This review analyzed and identified biomass feedstocks to produce liquid biofuels targeting tropical islands, particularly focusing on Hawaii as a case study. Transportation and energy generation sectors consume 25.5% and 11.6%, respectively, of Hawaii's imported fossil fuels. Various nonedible feedstocks with information on their availability, production, and average yields of oils, fiber, sugars, and lipid content for liquid biofuels production are identified to add value to the total energy mix. The available biomass conversion technologies and production costs are summarized. In addition, a section on potentially using sewage sludge to produce biodiesel is also included. Based on a comparative analysis of kamani, croton, pongamia, jatropha, energycane, Leucaena hybrid, gliricidia, and eucalyptus feedstock resources, this study proposes that Hawaii and other similar tropical regions can potentially benefit from growing and producing economical liquid biofuels locally, especially for the transportation and electricity generation sectors

Abstract

Media are considered very important to meet the objectives to be achieved during the teaching and learning process. Media are used so that the students can enthusiastically participate in the learning process. However, due to the situation during this pandemic, all teaching and learning activities were carried out online. This research aims to determine students' interest in participating in the online way when given learning videos. This study used a pre-experimental quantitative method with one group pre-test post-test design. The results of this study have shown that there was an increase in the learning process when using learning videos. After giving the treatment, students eagerly want to know and were highly motivated in taking part in the learning process. Besidesm they were not bored when doing assignments given by the teacher. The increase in student learning that occurs is included in the moderate category, namely 0.42 based on the results of the normalized gain test (N-Gain). Based on the data analysis using a Gain test, the result is 0.41. The second class experienced an increase in participating in learning activities when given a learning video in the medium category. It is also said to be in the medium category because 0.7 g ≥ 0.3.  the, from the result of the questionnaire regarding the use of interesting and educational learning videos, the parents and students agreed to use instructional videos. It is because by using learning videos of sufficient time, students easily understand the material taught by the teacher. The conclusion obtained is that the application of using interesting instructional videos can increase children's interest in taking lessons during online learning. Keywords: Learning Media, Audio Visual Aid, Online Classes

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to understand and describe the roles of traditional games in facilitating children’s development. In this modern era, many parents and teachers as early childhood educators are not aware of the importance of traditional gamesto optimize the growth and development of early childhood. In fact, traditional games are a good and affordable means for children to grow and develop. In this paper, theresearchersattempted to discuss the roles of traditional Bugis games as a medium for early childhood growth and development. This research was qualitative in nature because the researchers wanted to produce descriptive data (written or spoken) about people and observable behaviors during the play that can help the growth and development of children. To collect the data, the researchers used several instruments, namely observation, interviews, and documentation. Data multiplication was carried out based on the characteristics of the instrument. The results showed that traditional South Sulawesi Bugis games, with or without equipment, act asmedia for children's physical, social-emotional, language and cognitive development. The games becomean important means for children to socialize, learn to become a society member, andlearn to respectthe society’s rules. In the game-and-play situations, children can alsodevelopmathematical abilities and reasoning. Keywords: Traditional Bugis Games, Development, Early Childhood

Abstract

The waste of tea powder is abundant and has not been widely used optimally. The alternative use is to use the waste as an additional medium or substitution for the white oyster mushroom growing media. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of mycelium growth and the production of the fruit of the white oyster mushroom on combination media / tea powder substitution with sawdust. The research design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 replications. Combined treatments were M0 = 100% sawdust; M1 = 100% Tea waste powder; M2 = 75% tea powder + 25% sawdust; M3 = 50% tea powder + 50% sawdust and M4 = 25% tea powder + 75% sawdust. All treatments used the composition of the manufacture of mushroom growing media consisting of each combination of treatments, bran 10% by weight of the material and lime 0.5% by weight of the material. The parameters observed were the growth of white oyster mushroom mycelium, the rate of mycelium growth, the time the mycelium closed the substrate, the time of appearance of the fruiting body, the weight of the fruit body and the diameter of the fruit hood. The results showed that all parameters differed significantly. The best treatment is in treatment M4, followed by treatment of M3, M0 and M2.
