Cash Waqf funds has an important role to empower the economy of Ummah. Unfortunately, the collected cashwaqf fund is still very small compared to its potentialnumber. Against this background, this researchaims to design systems that may enchance the role ofIslamic banks in cash waqf fund raising. This paperemployed Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM) byconducting literature studies and In-depth interviewswith some regulators, practitioners and academicians. The result shows that experts and practitioners agreedthat the strong legal support on cash waqf is necessaryto enhance the role of Islamic Banks to raise cash waqffunds. It creates a sense of secure to the stakeholders.Furthermore, it requires a strong coordination betweenIndonesian Waqf Board (BWI), Ministry of ReligiousAffairs, Bank Indonesia (BI), Financial ServicesAuthority (OJK), Nazhir and Islamic FinancialInstitutions that may receive cash waqf (LKS-PWU)in order to boost the role of Islamic Banks. Abstract

The objective of this paper was to formulate model and identify the most priorities criteria to enhance the role of Non Bank-Islamic Financial Industry (Non Bank Financial Services). This research also tried to find which NB-IFI with the highest priorities to be improved. This research also tried to compare the priorities result based on two approaches-methods, there are AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) where the network connection is hierarchy, and ANP (Analytic Network Process) where the network connection is feedback. Indepth interview to some academician, practitioners, and regulators who has better knowledge related to Non Bank-Islamic Financial Industry was used to formulate AHP and ANP model. The result of this study indicates that the most priorities criterian to enhance the role of Non Bank-Islamic Financial Industry is tough, manageable, and steady NB-IFI. The most priorities of sub criteria ‘tough, manageable, and steady NB-IFI’ are strengthening the institutional system, modal aspect, and operational activity aspect and business capacity. The most priorities of sub criteria ‘NB-IFI and financial inculsion’ are NB-IFI products development based on the needs of society. The most priorities of sub criteria ‘Human Resource, Infrastructures and Information Technology support’ are NB-IFI infrastructure development to bolster up business process. Alternative priority to enhance NB-IFI in Indonesia is Islamic Financing Institutions. We can conclude that there is no difference results between both approaches were used. Both AHP and ANP have the same priority result to synthesize the most priorities criterian and alternative in this research model.

Abstract

This research is aim to identify the priority factors that being barrier to develop the practice of cash waqf in Indonesia using Analytic Network Process (ANP) method. Here is also offered some solutions for the problems identified. ANP is a mathematic theory that allows one to deal systematically with dependence and feedback and that can capture and combine tangible and intangible factors by using ration scale. Result show that the problems appeared in managing cash waqf in Indonesia divided into 4 important aspects, there are: Human Resource aspect, trust aspect, system aspect, and sharia aspect. The rank for most priority problems to less priority based on the priority result are: 1) trust problems (whereas the most priority for this sub-criteria is donators’ lack of trust), 2) sharia problems (is unfulfilled waqf covenants), 3) human resource problems (is misappropriation of waqf funds, 4) system problems (is weak of management systems). Strategies that can be built to develop the practice of cash waqf in Indonesia based on the priorities are: 1) more computerized cash waqf management, 2) the development of waqf education institutions, 3) more comprehensive fund manager quality improvement, 4) transparency and accountability in every step.

Abstract

Turkey has a long history in Islamic civilisation. However, there is still lack of research to examine participatory banks in Turkey. This is despite the fact that the legacy of strong Islamic law, the majority Muslim population, and the strategic location of the country have failed to serve as catalyst to boost market share of participation banks in the country. This study is aimed at developing priority ranking of SWOT factors and strategies on the participatory bank development in Turkey. Data are collected from experts and practitioners of Participation (Islamic) bank in Turkey. Analytic Network Process (ANP) is used as the methods of analysis. The finding shows that the aspects of participatory banks in Turkey are derived from strengths, opportunities, weakness and threats factors. Sharia board is the main strength of this study, while inadequate competitive product is the main weakness. In the future, government support stands as the first priority from opportunity aspect. Islamic bank in Turkey also needs to aware on the absence of separate law as the main priority of threats aspect. Another finding shows that separated law and regulation is the main strategies of the study. Concomitantly, the study suggests separate law and regulation as the main strategy to enhance banks participation in Turkey. This study could serve as reference point for the regulator in formulating appropriate policy strategies to increase market share of participatory banks in Turkey.

Abstract

This study aims to measure the productive credit performance of conventional banks and profit-sharing financing for Islamic banks and analyze their responses to the shock of macroeconomic variables. In this study, the analysis method used is the Vector Auto-Regressive (VAR) / Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The data observed in this study are monthly data from the period 2015 to 2019. The results showed that NPL (Non Performing Loan) was responding negatively to the shock of the productive credit, meanwhile NPF (Non Performing Financing) was responding positively to the shock of the profit-sharing financing. NPL have the most dominant contribution to the productive credit of conventional bank. Meanwhile, world oil prices are projected as the highest contribution to the profit-sharing financing for Islamic banks. Conventional bank productive credit affects inflation. The world crude oil price (OIP) affects the problematic financing of Islamic banks. The price of crude oil affects the exchange rate, and the exchange rate affects inflation.
