Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the classroom conditions for student learning activities. This was quantitative and qualitative research, conducted on 40 subjects, using the questionnaire as an instrument. The results identified five conditions, including (1) The learning strategy practiced, as lecturers tend to use various offline methods in the classroom, which need to be upgraded to online-based models. (2) The condition of course material utility, which was assessed to already be good, although improvement is also necessary, through the use of various models, including Facebook online live study. (3) The state of the facilities also needs to be improved in terms of air conditioners and internet signals with fast network access capacity, in order to ensure proper online-based learning. (4) Lecturer competency; The analysis results of this section have an impact on knowledge, in relation to online learning, therefore properly increasing Internet technology literacy. (5) Student characteristics, which are explained already, characterized by online learning with good knowledge of social media.

Abstract

This study is focused to analyze the emotive language functions in the Ellen DeGeneres talk show. The objective of this study is to describe the emotive language functions work in the conversation performance by the actors “Ellen with Will Smith Full Interview” talk show. This study uses qualitative method. The data are analyzed based on Jacobson’s theory. The result of this study shows that only 5 of 17 emotive language functions are applied. The emotive language functions applied are pleasure, like, dislike, surprise, gratitude. While the emotive language functions that not applied are hope, satisfaction, dissatisfaction, worry, preference, sympathy, intentions, want, desire, dear and disappointment. This study finds that the most emotive function that frequently used in the Ellen DeGeneres Talk Show is “like expression”. The emotive function in the Ellen DeGeneres talk show works to express the actor’s feelings to other people based on the context and situation of the conversation

Abstract

Using the sociological theory of literature, the researchers agreed to study Leo Tolstoy's novel Anna Karenina, which will bring on connections in the social arts. In a descriptive qualitative, the investigator uses note sheets as analysis methods to evaluate knowledge to illustrate how the tension of social significance and religious hegemony arise. After an overview of the results, Leo Tolstoy in Anna Karenina Novel concludes his research finding on the social conflict. The social role and religious hegemony were expected. A social role is also a pit for social participants in their unconsciousness, such that conflict becomes an inseparable aspect and obstacles between groups in the social order, and religious hegemony, which in human behavior is manifested as an important role in the social realm of humans, religious instruction. Religion is a reference to the social and moral life.

Abstract

The study aims to know good-life concepts of moral value in Robin Hood movie. This research used qualitative approach. The researcher found that five moral principles are tolerance, belief, kind-hearted, integrity, and responsibility. In this movie, good-live concepts of moral value are tolerance for human relationships with Heaven, belief is entrusting everything to God's power, kind‐hearted is honesty in this movie that the hero succeeded in winning people's hearts by his supporting honesty, integrity is like finding a valuable gem, and responsibility portrayed feels responsible for defense, reminding people of responsibility to protect their position in everywhere.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out how children's storybook in strengthening children’s character. The rapid development of today's era shows the phenomenon that children generally experience a setback in terms of moral intelligence, although not intellectually. There is a tendency that it is difficult for children to communicate using the correct ethical level, also in terms of speaking and behaving politely, both towards friends in their age and those who are older. This of course has an impact on decreasing their sensitivity to the surrounding which is of course a worrying phenomenon. This research uses descriptive qualitative. One of the factors causing this phenomenon is the decline in the culture of reading of qualified children story books in the daily life of today's society. This is due to the rapid flow of technology that makes children very dependent on technological tools to play games, network in cyberspace and also carry out various other activities, spending time in front of TV and other media. All of this, of course, either directly or indirectly, makes children grow passive in communicating in the real world. They tend to communicate only in one direction, only imitating and adapting without learning the context and concepts of manners so they do not understand how to communicate properly and correctly. Departing from the above background which then prompted this research to be carried out. Researchers see the challenges in this technological era to children's moral deficiencies and one solution is to reactivate the use of picture story books in children. The study began by conducting a survey on the feasibility of picture story books circulating in society today and continued by providing an introduction and habituation to a sample of children with different economic backgrounds and quality of education to find out how the stories they read contributed towards their character in the early stages.

Abstract

AbstractThis research was correlational research. The population consisted of the First Year of Nursing Department at SMK Darussalam Makassar with two classes of Nursing Department as sample. This research employed two kinds of instruments for collecting data. Data on students’ intelligence and their visual material comprehension were analyzed in percentage by using descriptive statistics persons’ product moment correlation and SPSS ver 15.0 for windows to find out whether or not there was correlation between the intelligence level and the ability to comprehend visual materials of SMK Darussalam Makassar. The result of the research showed that there was a significant correlation between the intelligence level and the ability to comprehend visual materials of SMK Darussalam Makassar, as the students categorized into positive category, students comprehension classified into good classification.  However, the data shows that the correlation between the intelligence level and the ability to comprehend visual materials exists. It was proved by the result of correlation analysis showing that score of r test was greater than r table value. Therefore, it can be interpreted that the research hypothesis is accepted.AbstractPenelitian ini merupakan penelitian korelasional.Populasi dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari siswa kelas satu Jurusan Keperawatan di SMK Darussalam Makassar.Sampel terdiri dari dua kelas jurusan Keperawatan.Penelitian ini menggunakan dua jenis instrumen untuk mengumpulkan data.Data kecerdasan siswa dan pemahaman materi visual mereka dianalisis dalam persentase dengan menggunakan statistik deskriptif korelasi product moment dan SPSS ver 15.0 for windows untuk mengetahui apakah ada atau tidak hubungan antara Tingkat Kecerdasan dan Kemampuan untuk Memahami Materi Visual SMK Darussalam Makassar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan yang signifikan antara Tingkat Kecerdasan dan Kemampuan untuk Memahami Materi Visual siswa SMK Darussalam Makassardikategorikan positif serta pemahaman mereka diklasifikasikan baik. Namun, data menunjukkan bahwa korelasi antara Tingkat Kecerdasan dan Kemampuan untuk Memahami materi Visual ada meskipun posisi moderat.Hal ini terbukti dari hasil analisis korelasi menunjukkan bahwa skor tes-r lebih besar dari nilai tabel-r.Oleh karena itu dapat diartikan bahwa hipotesis penelitian diterima.

Abstract

Abstract The Analysis of Syntactical Errors Made by the Students in Writing Thesis aimed to find out the types of syntactical errors made by the students in writing thesis and to find out the most frequent type of errors made by the students in writing thesis. The writer used Politzer and Romirez’s theory focusing on the Syntactical errors. This study found the errors made by students were in the term of noun phrase, verb, verb construction, and transformation. Then, the most frequent error found was in the noun phrase term with 48.7%. The researcher suggests the English teachers to give reinforcement for the students about the basic rules of constructing sentences.Abstrak Analisa Kesalahan Sintaksis oleh Mahasiswa dalam Penulisan Skripsi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh jenis kesalahan sintaksis yang dilakukan oleh siswa dalam menulis skripsi dan kesalahan sintaksis yang paling sering dilakukan. Penulis menggunakan teori Politzer dan Romirez mengenai kesalahan sintaksis. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa kesalahan yang dilakukan mahasiswa adalah pada noun phrase, verb, verb construction, and transformation. Jenis kesalahan yang paling sering dilakukan adalah pada noun phrase (47.8%). Penulis menyarankan dosen bahasa Inggris untuk memberikan penguatan pada mahasiswa mengenai aturan dasar mengenai constructing sentences.

Abstract

AbstractThis study about the communication skill of using English with tourist as native speaker based on context. In this presentation, the lecturer gives the task to the students to find the tourists to invite to communicate, in places where the context of tourist attractions. So, they are free and easy can practice their English which of course uses communication skills. The students made the group, and go together in the tourist attraction and record and take the picture with the tourist. Then students make material and mental preparations before communicating with tourists, and present their English communication results in class. Students are highly motivated in communicating with tourists as native speaker.AbstrakStudi tentang kemampuan berkomunikasi menggunakan bahasa Inggris dengan turis sebagai penutur asli berdasarkan konteks. Dalam presentasi ini, dosen memberikan tugas kepada para siswa untuk mencari wisatawan untuk diajak berkomunikasi, di tempat-tempat di mana konteks tempat wisata. Jadi, mereka bebas dan mudah bisa mempraktekkan bahasa Inggris mereka yang tentu saja menggunakan kemampuan komunikasi. Para siswa membuat kelompok tersebut, dan pergi bersama-sama di tempat wisata dan merekam dan berfoto bersama turis. Kemudian siswa membuat persiapan materi dan mental sebelum berkomunikasi dengan turis, dan mempresentasikan hasil komunikasi bahasa Inggris mereka di kelas. Siswa sangat termotivasi dalam berkomunikasi dengan wisatawan sebagai penutur asli.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze the type of metaphor and analyze the meaning in the lyrics of the song "Fall for You" the method uses a qualitative approach because the data used in the form of song lyrics. Document analysis is applied to find the connotation meaning contained in the song lyrics, the messages contained in the song, as well as the contribution of the connotations to the messages in the song. The writers collected data by downloading songs along with lyrics, reading song lyrics, and creating phrases that contain metaphorical meanings. Then the writers analyzed the data by identifying the meaning, find the intent contained in the song, and connect with the types of metapor. The results of the discussion data show that there are. There are seven types of meaning in the data are: conceptual, connotative, social, affective, reflective, collocative and thematic meaning. The song uses metaphor and other types of meaning to embellish the song and to convey the implicit message in the song. The messages contained in the song are mostly persuasive. metaphors found in song lyrics have an important role in creating certain feelings and conveying messages.Keywords: Metaphor, Meaning, Song lyricsABSTRAKTujuan dari artikel ini adalah untuk menganalisa jenis metafora dan menganalisa makna dalam lirik lagu "Fall for You". Metodenya menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif karena data yang digunakan dalam bentuk lirik lagu. Analisis dokumen diaplikasikan untuk menemukan makna konotasi yang terkandung dalam lirik lagu, pesan yang terkandung dalam lagu, serta kontribusi konotasi terhadap pesan dalam lagu tersebut. Peneliti mengumpulkan data dengan mendownload lagu beserta liriknya, membaca lirik lagu, dan membuat ungkapan yang mengandung makna metafora. Kemudian para peneliti menganalisis data dengan mengidentifikasi maknanya, menemukan maksud yang terkandung dalam lagu, dan terhubung dengan jenis-jenis metapor. Hasil dari data diskusi menunjukkan bahwa ada. Ada tujuh jenis makna dalam data tersebut yaitu: makna konseptual, konotatif, sosial, afektif, reflektif, kolektif dan tematik. Lagu tersebut menggunakan metafora dan jenis makna lainnya untuk memperindah lagu dan menyampaikan pesan implisit dalam lagu tersebut. Pesan yang terkandung dalam lagu sebagian besar bersifat persuasif. Metafora yang ditemukan dalam lirik lagu memiliki peran penting dalam menciptakan perasaan dan menyampaikan pesan.Kata kunci: Metafora, Makna, lirik lagu
