Abstract

Vocational interest alignment is the key for job seekers to successfully undertake training programs. However, the assessment tool under the context of the vocational system has not been available, specifically in the Employment and Transmigration Agency of the East Java Provincial Government in Indonesia. Therefore, this research aimed to develop an online assessment to measure the vocational interest of job seekers. It generated theories and items for the Ubaya Vocational Interest Inventory (UVII) and tested the content validity. The process of developing the construct of the UVII was conducted by reviewing the descriptions of job training programs in East Java Province. The examination of content validity involved 10 panelists, and the data were analyzed by the coefficient Aiken V. Based on the categorization of all training program reviewed, the results showed that there were 20 categories of vocations encompassing 4 clusters of interests, which were services, agriculture, arts, and engineering. There were 10 items developed for each category of vocational interest. The content validity examination found that 152, 32, and 16 items at 76%, 16%, and 8% were good (V>0.70), fairly good (V = 0.50 – 0.69), and poor (V<0.50), respectively. The findings indicated that most of the developed items represented the constructs measured. However, items in the fairly good category need to be revised, and those in the poor category should be changed with the new items.

Abstract

The Narcissistic Admiration and Rivalry Questionnaire (NARQ) was developed to measure theNarcissistic Admiration and Rivalry concept, as a new process model related to narcissism. This research aimed to adapt and validate the Indonesian version of the NARQ and involved 467 individuals aged 17- 25 years. Confirmatory factor analysis, reliability, and correlation test were used to test the factor structure, internal consistency, and criterion validity of the Indonesian version of the NARQ. The results show that the NARQ has the best factor structure in the form of a two-factor hierarchical model, representing two dimensions and six aspects of narcissistic admiration and rivalry. Also, the Indonesian version of the NARQ is supported by satisfactory reliability and validity criteria. This finding indicates that the Indonesian version of the NARQ is a measuring tool that can be used to assess narcissistic admiration and rivalry in individuals aged 17-25 years in Indonesia.

Abstract

Abstract

Responsive parenting contributes to positive adolescent development, including identity formation. However, previous research has not described the relationship between responsive parenting and identity formation. This research examines the role of future orientation as a mediator in the relationship between responsive parenting and identity formation. A total of 450 adolescents were involved in the study, which included early (12-15 years old), middle (15-18 years old), and late (18-20 years old) adolescents. Additionally, the Parental Responsiveness Scale, the Future subscale from the Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory, and the Utrecht-Management of Identity Commitment Scale were used to assess responsive parenting, future orientation, and identity formation. According to the results, future orientation can mediate the relationship between responsive parenting with commitment and in-depth exploration. Furthermore, this research found that responsive parenting can predict reconsideration of commitment. These findings indicate that this parenting has two sides, one being it can lead adolescents to develop future orientations, resulting in optimal identity formation. On the other hand, it directs adolescents to reconsider their commitments as an indicator of a suboptimal identity formation process.

Abstract

Responsive parenting contributes to the friendship quality formed in adolescents. Previous studies failed to fully explain the relationship process between responsive parenting and friendship quality. Empathy is one of the interpersonal skills formed through responsive parenting. Therefore, this study aims to examine the role of empathy in responsive parenting relations with friendship quality. A total of 450 respondents, including the early, middle, and late adolescents aged 12-15, 15-18, and 18-20 years, were selected as participants. Responsive parenting, empathy style, and friendship quality was measured using the Parental Responsiveness Scale, Interpersonal Reactivity Index, and the McGill Friendship Questionnaires-Friend's Functions. The research data were analyzed using regression analysis and Sobel test. The results showed that empathy is a mediator in the relationship between responsive parenting and friendship quality. Also, responsive parenting does not directly predict friendship quality but first develops fantasy and personal stress styles. Adolescents with high personal distress show sensitivity to the feelings and thoughts of their friends because the relationships formed are of higher quality.
