Abstract

Abstract: The Melung Tourism Village has several local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) that produce typical food products such as Melung coffee and jackfruit chips. However, the growth in the number of UMKM food businesses has not been accompanied by an increase in the competitiveness of their products. One step to enhance their competitiveness is through halal certification from the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH). Therefore, it is necessary to aid impart an understanding of the importance of halal certification and the application process. This approach involves surveys, field observations, assistance, and evaluation. The assistance partners consist of 15 UMKM practitioners under the auspices of the Melung Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDES). Pre-tests and post-tests are used to measure the achievement of the assistance objectives. In both the pre-test and post-test, there are 18 items of questions. The success indicators of this activity are that >80% of the participants understand the importance of halal certification and >80% of the participants comprehend the required documents in the halal certification application process. The post-test results show that 100% of the participants understand the importance of halal certification, and 87% understand the required documents in the application process. With the implementation of this activity, it is expected that 100% of the food products from UMKM in Melung Tourism Village will obtain halal certification, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of their products.
