Abstract

ABSTRACT Semarang city there are many residential buildings built in the colonial period. Colonial dwelling house is spread in various areas of Semarang city, such as in the residential area of Candi in the upper city. This area in the colonial period is an elite residential area with a fairly large building area of about 1000 m2 which is planned as a water absorption area for water reserves in the lower cities. Some colonial residential buildings today have been converted to function as a place of business such as café or restaurant. The transfer function of the residential building into a place of business is done by modifying the existing space adjusted for the space character for the type of business. The purpose of this study is to know how the modification of the colonial house, especially in the spatial in maximizing space as a place of independent business. The research was conducted by descriptive method, with the sample taken by purposive. The results showed that the modification of the colonial house to independent business is manifested in the change of function of the living room into a space of business which is adapted to the specificity of its business activity. In addition, the addition and alteration of building materials is used to emphasize the main functions of the business. While in general plan of building of main house stay tends not change. Keywords : colonial house, modification, independent bussiness ABSTRAK Kota Semarang terdapat banyak bangunan rumah tinggal yang dibangun pada masa kolonial. Rumah tinggal kolonial tersebut tersebar diberbagai wilayah kota Semarang, diantaranya di kawasan permukiman Candi di kota atas. Kawasan ini pada masa kolonial merupakan kawasan permukiman elit dengan lahan bangunan yang cukup luas sekitar 1000 m2 yang direncanakan sebagai daerah peresapan air untuk cadangan air di kota bawah. Beberapa bangunan rumah tinggal kolonial saat ini telah dialih fungsikan sebagai tempat usaha seperti café atau restoran. Alih fungsi bangunan rumah tinggal menjadi tempat usaha dilakukan dengan memodifikasi ruang yang ada disesuaikan untuk karakter ruang untuk jenis usahanya. Tujuan dari studi ini adalah mengetahui bagaimana bentuk modifikasi rumah kolonial khususnya dalam tata ruang dalalamnya dalam memaksimalkan ruang sebagai tempat usaha mandiri. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metoda deskriptif, dengan sampel diambil secara purposive. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa modifikasi rumah kolonial untuk usaha mandiri diwujudkan dalam perubahan fungsi ruang – ruang tempat tinggal menjadi ruang tempat usaha yang disesuaikan dengan kekhususan kegitan usahanya. Selain itu, penambahan dan perubahan material bangunan digunakan untuk memberi penekanan pada fungsi utama pada kegiatan usaha tersebut. Sedangkan secara umum denah bangunan rumah tinggal utama cenderung tidak berubah. Kata Kunci : Kolonial, Usaha, Modifikasi

Abstract

Indonesia is a super cultural power country, rich in customs and culture line from Sabang to Merauke, from Nias to Rote Island. Cultural wealth breeds architectural diversity. The potential of original Indonesian architecture has begun to be left behind and eroded by foreign cultures. The postmodern era has raised Nusantara Architecture to the world stage. Researches on the wealth of Nusantara architecture begin to bloom like mushrooms in the rainy season. The phenomenon of the skills or expertise of the masters has made traditional houses an endless research material. The purpose of this research is to explore the treasures of the Indonesian nation's wealth, especially the craftsmanship skills of Indonesian ancestors. The phenomenon of tying, knitting, and stringing materials into architectural masterpieces is a uniqueness and uniqueness that other nations do not have. The method used in this study uses the phenomenological method. Where in the vernacular architectural phenomenology is divided into two branches; first: related to space, place, and atmosphere, second: related to tectonic or the art of construction more on the elements of craftsmanship. The results of this study reveal that simple and straightforward technology becomes effective when it comes to craftsmen who have special skills. The conclusions of this study indicate that the skill of the masons is more dominant than the tools used, on the other hand, currently tools are more dominant than the skills of the masons.

Abstract

The Kaliyasa River is a vital means for fishermen, especially traditional fishermen who live around the river. Since the construction of the Cilacap Fishing Port, many migrants started to settle and overtime the population crowded the area uncontrollably and marginalized. This study focused on the strategy of reorganizing fishermen’s settlements with a sustainable development and waterfront development approach as well as the regulation of PERMEN no. 28 of 2015, Descriptive-qualitative method has being used to explain the conditions in the study area, The data collection using desk study and field study methods, from the findings confirmed by the theory of waterfront and sustainable development in order to obtain the right reorganizing strategy. The result of this research is a settlement reorganizing strategy that applies the principle of waterfront development. This principle is applied through social aspects by creating open public spaces, piers placement, and public counseling about river border regulations. Environmental aspects with the arrangement of trash bins on the banks of the river as well as the establishment of waste management institution, management of green open spaces, and solution for illegal buildings in river bank areas. Economic aspects by improving dock infrastructure to support fishing activities, as well as reorganizing marine product trade zone. The preservation aspect aims to preserve the identity of the Kaliyasa river as water transportation route and fishermen's settlements.
