Abstract

Each country develops diverse character education. This paper photographs the development of character education in the country of Indonesia, Malaysia, and the United States. The emergence of character education in those three countries is caused by the moral problems arise. Indonesia putsthe character education together with the school system, whereas in the US and Malaysia, it is positioned as a program or field of study. The principles of character education in those three countries compared have different emphases. But the character values developed in those three countries are the same, which is universal; while the implementation method of character education internalization in Indonesia has the scope, complexity and variations more than methods used in Malaysia and the United States.

Abstract

Pemerintah Indonesia mengimplementasikan Kurikulum 2013 untuk mengatasi persoalan karakter dan moral bangsa Indonesia. Implementasi dari Kurikulum 2013 tentunya menghadapi beberapa kendala. Salah satunya adalah masalah teoritis yang menempatkan karakter agama dan karakter sosial dalam posisi yang sama, dan juga aspek skill dan kognitif. Ini bertentangan dengan Islam yang menempatkan pembelajaran agama sebagai dasar bagi nilai-nilai sosial serta aspek skill dan kognitif. Sebagai hasilnya, permasalahan ini menjadikan rintangan bagi implementasi Kurikulum 2013 karena menghasilkan siswa-siswa yang sekuler. Oleh karena itu menjadi penting untuk memformulasikan konsep dan juga implementasi Kurikulum 2013 yang memusatkan pada nilai-nilai agama dalam rangka mengoptimalkan pendidikan karakter. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif dan juga metode penelitian pustaka dengan analisis deskriptif, maka temuan dalam penelitian ini adalah: 1) pemusatan nilai Kurikulum 2013 dilakukan melalui integrasi nilai-nilai agama dengan ilmu alam serta sosial dan sebaliknya yang keduanya berada dalam kurikulum dengan aktivitas yang lebih banyak, 2) ada beberapa cara untuk mengimplementasikan Kurikulum 2013 diantaranya adalah: mendesain KI-KD dan pokok pelajaran, pemilihan metode dan media, dan juga peran dari guru.

Abstract

Novel Lelaki Harimau karya Eka Kurniawan merupakan novel yang sangat menarik karena dipenuhi dengan konflik dan intrik yang dibawakan begitu apik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan konflik batin tokoh utama dalam novel Lelaki Harimau karya Eka Kurniawan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data penelitian berupa kata, frasa, klausa, dan kalimat yang ada di dalam novel Lelaki Harimau karya Eka Kurniawan. Sumber data primer dalam penelitian ini yaitu novel Lelaki Harimau karya Eka Kurniawan yang diterbitkan oleh Gramedia Pustaka Utama pada tahun 2019 (cetakan kesepuluh). Sedangkan, sumber data sekunder yang digunakan yaitu buku, jurnal, artikel, dan berbagai sumber data lain yang relevan. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini yaitu menggunakan teknik baca catat, studi pustaka, dan teknik analisis. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dalam novel Lelaki Harimau karya Eka Kurniawan terdapat konflik batin yang dialami oleh tokoh utama, yaitu Margio yang diwujudkan dalam id, ego, dan superego.

Abstract

Manusia sejatinya merupakan makhluk sosial. Manusia tidak dapat hidup sendiri dan selalu membutuhkan orang lain. Namun akhir-akhir ini ditengarai bahwa nilai-nilai sosial yang sesungguhnya telah lama terjiwai dan menjadi laku hidup manusia Indonesia eksistensinya mulai terkikis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menjelaskan kontruksi nilai sosial yang terkandung dalam kumpulan cerpen Tawa Gadis Padang Sampah karya Ahmad Tohari. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan kekhasannya mendeskripsikan data yang diperoleh secara mendalam. Data dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui tahapan pembacaan teks cerpen secara seksama, mengklasifikasikan data, menafsirkan hasil analisis data, mengkonfirmasi hasil analisis, kemudian menyimpulkan hasil analisis. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah kumpulan cerpen Tawa Gadis Padang Sampah karya Ahmad Tohari. Pendekatan strukturalisme genetik Lucien Goldmann digunakan sebagai upaya mengetahui data-data yang berkaitan dengan kontruksi nilai sosial dalam teks cerpen. Kontruksi nilai sosial tersebut merupakan representasi pandangan dunia pengarang, sementara fakta sosial adalah hal melatarbelakangi pandangan dunia tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kontruksi nilai sosial yang terdapat dalam kumpulan Tawa Gadis Padang Sampah karya Ahmad Tohari yaitu: nilai sosial bersolidaritas, nilai sosial bertoleransi, dan nilai sosial bekerja sama. Fakta sosial yang melatarbelakangi pandangan dunia pengarang adalah interaksi sosial masyarakat pinggiran atau masyarakat kecil yang mencirikan pola kehidupan bersolidaritas, bertoleransi, dan saling bekerja sama.

Abstract

The study on the theological perspective of religious leaders upon the Covid-19 pandemic is essential to prevent the Covid-19 transmission. This study aims to portray the theological perspective related to the destiny (al-qada' and al-qadar) of NU and Muhammadiyah leaders in Indonesia during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study is a quantitative-descriptive analysis. The data is collected through the validated and distributed semi-open questionnaires using a google form to the 175 respondents living in Java, Sumatera, Sulawesi, and Kalimantan. This study reveals that the theological perspective of Indonesia's religious leaders upon the Covid-19 pandemic follows Ahlussunnah wal Jama'ah theology teaching on fate proposed by al-Ghazali, al-Baqilani, al-Juwaini, and other scholars who have similar views. Moreover, this study also affirms that NU and Muhammadiyah as moderate organizations in the aspect of destiny. Most NU and Muhammadiyah religious leaders have theological views stating that the Covid-19 pandemic is God's ordeal and test, while others believe it is God's torment and punishment.

Abstract

The ideology of Brunei Darussalam contributes in shaping the [Islamic] Education system. Politically, Brunei applies the concept of Malay, Islam, Beraja (MIB) as an ideological basis. This research is oriented to two main discussions. First is the historical trajectory of MIB in Brunei and its relation to the education system. The second is the dimension of educational philosophy and Islamic education philosophy in Brunei by drawing its relation to the MIB. This research uses a qualitative-naturalistic approach. This research was conducted in Brunei, October 2019. Data was collected through interviews, focus group discussions (FGD), observation, document and literature studies. In data collection, this research involved academics from Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan (KUPU) and Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA). The findings show that the MIB is related to the model perennialism and progressivism. However, from Islamic education philosophy, MIB gives a traditionalist style to the mazhabi and modernist education system.

Abstract

Sebagian potret Indonesia di masa datang dapat diprediksi dari apa yang diperoleh anak-anak generasi sekarang lewat media, khususnya media soasial yang orientasinya mengekplorasi kehidupan hedon dan materialis termasuk penggiringan opini ektrim. Ungkapan ini semakin memperkuat bahwa gerakan literasi penting untuk dijadikan sebuah agenda bersama termasuk bagi kalangan pesantren. Selain mengagumkan, pesantren juga memiliki pengaruh yang sangat besar dalam memberi pemahaman, penghayatan, serta pengamalan ajaran keagamaan (tafaqquh fiddin) dalam kehidupan umat Islam. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan dengan sasaran pondok pesantren di Malang raya  Jawa timur, bertujuan menumbuhkan kesadaran literasi santri, meningkatkan wawasan dan kemampuan santri dalam pengajaran dan dakwah melalui kegiatan literasi; dan meningkatkan keterampilan santri dalam mengelola komunitas literasi untuk kepentingan pembelajaran dan dakwah keislaman.. Metode yang digunakan mencakup analisis kebutuhan, pengumpulan data, penyusunan bahan, pelatihan literasi berbahan informasi media serta evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukan bahwa kesadaran literasi guru dan santri semakin baik, terutama dalam daya kritisnya untuk tetap mamahami prinsip islam moderat.Kata kunci— Era Digital, Islam Moderat, Literasi santri, Media Sosial, Pesantren Abstract Some portraits of Indonesia in the future can be predicted from what the children of the present generation will obtainthrough the media, especially social media whose orientation is to explore hedonistic and materialist life, including the promotion of extreme opinions. This expression further strengthens that the literacy movement is important to become a common agenda, including for the pesantren. Apart from being amazing, pesantren also have a huge influence in providing understanding, appreciation, and practice of religious teachings (tafaqquh fiddin) in the lives of Muslims. This community service is carried out with the aim of the Islamic boarding school in Malang Raya, East Java, aimed at fostering awareness of the literacy of the students, increasing the insights and abilities of the students in teaching and da’wah through literacy activities; and improve the skills of students in managing literacy communities for the benefit of Islamic learning and da’wah. The methods used include needs analysis, data collection, material preparation, literacy training based on media information and evaluation. The results of the activity show that the literacy awareness of teachers and students is getting better, especially in their critical power to continue to understand the principles of moderate Islam. Keywords— Digital Era, Moderate Islam, Islamic Literacy, Social Media, Islamic Boarding Schools

Abstract

This study aims to describe the effectiveness of the Participatory Observation learning model and students’ responses to the learning model used in PAI (Pendidikan Agama Islam/Islamic Education). It used qualitative and quantitative methods with a pre-test and post-test nonrandomized group pre-experiment design. The 125 participants who were taken from three public universities, were asked to fill out questionnaires and written interviews. The data were analysed using paired t-test and qualitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that first experiment got a t-score of 6,798 with a significance of 0,000; t-table score at 51 degrees of freedom and a significant degree of 0.05 in the form of 2.032. Second experiment obtained a t-score of 5.991 with a significance of 0.000; the t-table score at 54 degrees of freedom and 0.05 degrees of significance was 2.046. Third experiment achieved a t-score of 6.424 with a significance of 0.000; the t-table score at 20 degrees of freedom and 0.05 degrees of significance was 2.054. When compared, t-score> t-table or significance score <0.05, which means that the mean score between pre-test and post-test is significantly different. This means that the Participatory Observation learning model can improve students' religious and social character in learning PAI. This result is in line with the respondents' recognition that they have experienced changes in their character in a positive direction. Students stated that the Participatory Observation learning model was fun and very useful, so that it could be used in PAI learning to improve students’ character.

Abstract

Bahasa Indonesia:Akhir-akhir ini muncul beragam persoalan moral dan karakter pada remaja dan pelajar di Indonesia. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan ini, Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan meminta sekolah-sekolah menerapkan Kurikulum 2013. Salah satu ciri kurikulum ini adalah adanya kompetensi sikap religius yang harus dicapai melalui seluruh bidang studi. Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk mengevaluasi penerapan Kurikulum 2013 bidang studi Biologi dalam mengembangkan kompetensi sikap religius siswa MAN 3 Malang. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif model penelitian lapangan yang bersifat deskriptif diperoleh sejumlah temuan: pertama, pengembangan sikap religius dilakukan melalui penulisan rumusan tujuan pembelajaran dan penyampaian salam serta berdo’a di awal pembelajaran; kedua, pelaksanaan pengembangan sikap religius dilakukan dengan cara menyampaikan salam dan do’a di awal pembelajaran, menghubungkan materi pembelajaran dengan ajaran Islam, menyampaikan salam dan berdo’a kafaratul majlis di akhir pembelajaran, dan menegur siswa yang dianggap melanggar aturan Islam; ketiga, hambatan pengembangan sikap religius berupa tidak tersedianya contoh atau panduan penilaian kompetensi sikap religius. English:Recently many kinds of youth and students’ moral-character issues becomes a concern in Indonesia. To cope with these problems, Ministry of Education and Culture called for the implementation of Kurikulum 2013 (the national education curriculum). One of the curriculum characteristics is the religious competency to achieve in every school subjects including Biology. This research is aimed to evaluate implementation of Kurikulum 2013 in developing students’ religious attitude through Biology class in MAN 3 Malang. The field research with qualitative approach and descriptive design found that: first, the development of students’ religious competency is managed by teacher by formulating religious competency objective and accustoming salam and praying before the class begins; second, in the process of instruction, the teacher develop religious competency in four ways: salam and praying at introduction, finding relationship between Biology to Islamic teaching, salam and praying kafaratul majlis in closing the class, and admonishing students breaking the rules; last, this attitude development is constrained by the absence of evaluation guide.
