Abstract

Kurikulum sains menyarankan guru menggunakan model pembelajaran yang melibatkan siswa untuk melakukan penelitian, misalnya penggunaan model discovery learning (DL)  dalam proses pembelajaran. Namun, persepsi dan pemahaman guru mengenai DL juga mempengaruhi pelaksanaan model ini di dalam kelas. Oleh karena itu, artikel ini melaporkan persepsi dan pemahamn guru kimia mengenai model DL serta penerapannya di Muara Bungo Jambi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan wawancara dari 12 orang guru kimia yang dipilih berdasarkan pengalaman mengajar yang berbeda. Selanjutnya, data dianalisis menggunakan metode kualitatif. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa pada umumnya guru setuju dengan perlunya menggunakan DL untuk mengembangkan kemampuan siswa di bidang kimia. Guru  mengetahui DL dengan pemahaman yang bermacam-macam. Mereka memperoleh pengetahuan ini dari buku teks dan internet, tapi bukan dari pelatihan formal. Hal ini hanya menghasilkan pemahaman semu tentang model sehingga penerapannya menjadi minimal. Temuan ini menandakan bahwa guru perlu mempelajari dan menggunakan DL melalui suatu pelatihan tersendiri. Oleh sebab itu, perlu dilakukan penelitian lebih lanjut untuk membantu guru sehubungan dengan penggunaan model ini dalam pelaksaan pembelajaran. Abstract

Artikel ini melaporkan hasil penelitian yang berkaitan dengan persepsi guru kimia mengenai pelaksanaan sistem belajar tuntas di Kota Jambi. Kendala yang mempengaruhi pelaksanaan kegiatan remedial serta strategi yang guru gunakan ketika melakukan kegiatan remedial tersebut juga akan dilaporkan. Metode deskriptif kualitatif telah digunakan pada penelitian ini. Data dari tujuh orang responden yang direkrut secara convenient sampling dikumpulkan menggunakan metode wawancara. Selanjutnya, data dianalisis menggunakan metode kualitatif Miles danHuberman. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa semua responden setuju terhadap pelaksanaan sistem belajar tuntas yang mengharuskan siswa menguasai materi sebelum melanjutkan ketahap berikutnya. Namun hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa masih ada guru yang belum melaksanakan kegiatan remedial karena hambatan waktu. Sementara itu, beberapa guru telah melaksanakan kegiatan remedial dengan menerapkan strategi yang meliputi pemberian tugas, pengajaran ulang, dan pelaksanaan kegiatan belajar tutor sebaya. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa pelaksanaan sistem belajar tuntas di Kota Jambi problematis dan belum berjalan sebagaimana yang direkomendasikan oleh kurikulum. Hasil ini menstimulasi untuk dilakukannya kegiatan penelitian lanjutan dalam rangka mengeksplorasi strategi yang efisien bagi guru untuk dapat dilaksanakan pada kegiatan remedial dimaksud. Abstract

Kurikulum sains merekomendasikan guru untuk menerapkan model-model pembelajaran koperatif seperti jigsaw ketika mengajar untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Namun, keberhasilan dalam menerapkan model belajar ini dipengaruhi oleh beberapa kendala. Maka, artikel ini melaporkan faktor-faktor penentu keberhasilan pelaksanaan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw pada materi hidrokarbon di SMAN 3 Kota Jambi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Proses pembelajaran materi hidrokarbon hanya melibatkan satu kelas 11 yang dilakukan sebanyak 3 kali pertemuan. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan lembar observasi, angket dan wawancara. Selanjutnya, metode triangulasi digunakan saat mengambil kesimpulan. Hasil analisis terhadap data observasi memperlihatkan bahwa selama 3 kali pertemuan siswa berhasil melaksanakan model pembelajaran jigsaw dengan keberhasilan yang berbeda-beda. Perbedaan tersebut berimplikasi terhadap tingkat aktifitas siswa yang juga beragam. Beberapa faktor teramati mempengaruhi jalannya proses pembelajaran yang meliputi kesiapan siswa baik dalam hal pedagogy maupun interpersonal skill, managemen kelas, dan sarana belajar. Hasil penelitian ini mengindikasikan bahwa model-model pembelajaran koperatif seperti jigsaw perlu diadaptasi agar sesuai dengan kondisi pendidikan setempat sebelum digunakan. Selanjutnya, hasil penelitian ini merekomendasikan pentingnya melakukan penelitian lanjutan dalam usaha mencari strategi yang tepat untuk menerapkan jigsaw di daerah seperti Kota Jambi. Abstract

Analysis of the needs of teachers and students states that learning required teaching materials that utilized multimedia as a learning medium that could be accessed on cellphones (laptops) and laptops. This study is aimed to develop learning media in the form of inquiry-based digital chemistry books on acid-base titration material. This type of research is a research and development study using the ADDIE model. The subjects in this study were chemistry teachers and students of class XI Mipa 1 in SMA Plus N 2 Banyuasin III. The instruments used to collect data were in the form of questionnaires, interviews, and daily logs. From the results of media validation, material validation and learning design validation state that this digital chemistry book is suitable for use in acid-base titration material. The results of the assessment of two chemistry teachers on digital books were stated to be very good with the kappa test obtained a value of 0.814. In the one-on-one trial, it was 86.67% feasibility, and in the small-group trial it was 95%. Chemistry digital books on inquiry- based acid-base titration material are appropriate for use in chemistry learning and are expected to be applied in learning to improve students critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Previous studies have shown that the creativity of students who are prospective biology teacher is still low. Even though some efforts have been made, the level of creativity is still low and needs to be improved. This is important before the students become teachers in the community. This study thus aims to examine the effectiveness of the reflective learning model in improving the creativity of students who are prospective biology teachers. This is a literature review study that collect references from various sources, such as journals on Google Scholar, Science Direct, Mendeley and many more to answer the research question. The results showed that the reflective learning model can improve creativity; thus, it is recommended to be applied by lecturers in teaching students who are prospective biology teachers. Keywords: learning model, reflective learning, creativity ability, prospective biology teachers.

Abstract

Problem-solving skill is required by students and a target in studying mathematics. However, the problem-solving skill of Indonesian students are lacking. One effort that can be done is applying the Model of Learning Cycle 5E.  This research discussed the influence of the implementation of the learning cycle model on mathematics problem-solving skill viewed from students’ adversity quotient. This research used a quantitive approach, quasi-experimental study. The subjects were the 8th Grade students of SMP IT Ash-Shiddiiqi Jambi, consisting of two experiment classes and one control class. The instruments were post-test and adversity quotient questionnaire modified by Stoltz and had been validated by experts. Data analysis was conducted by Two-Way ANOVA. The results showed that there was no interaction between the learning cycle 5E model and mathematics problem-solving skill. This finding indicates that the model of learning cycle 5E affects problem-solving skills and can be applied to students with all types of adversity quotient.

Abstract

Metode deskriptif yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan profil kemampuan komunikasi dan pemahaman matematis berdasarkan tipe kepribadian extrovert dan introvert. Pendekatan yang digunakan yaitu kualitatif-kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian siswa kelas V SD dengan 1 siswa extrovert dan 1 siswa introvert. Pemilihan subjek berdasarkan teknik pengambilan cluster sampling dan purposive sampling. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa profil kemampuan komunikasi matematis tertulis siswa extrovert cukup dengan persentase 75% dan profil kemampuan komunikasi matematis tertulis siswa introvert baik dengan persentase 81,25%. Profil kemampuan komunikasi matematis lisan siswa extrovert baik dengan persentase 81,25% dan profil kemampuan komunikasi matematis lisan siswa introvert kurang dengan persentase 56,25%. Profil kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa extrovert baik dengan persentase 81,25% dan profil kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa introvert sangat baik dengan persentase 87,50%.

Abstract

Argumentation skills play a major role in developing critical thinking skills and understanding problems and ideas. Argumentation ability is one of the most complex thinking skills in the learning process. The purpose of this study was to determine the procedure for developing an argumentative inquiry blended learning model on acid-base material. The research method used the "Research and Development" (R D) method. The research procedure for developing a procedural learning model uses the type of procedure type F2-O2-S4-A3. The Argumentative Learning Model Procedure produced in this study is a combination of the Inquiry Argumentative Learning Model and the blended learning model using one type of research procedure for the development of Lee J.L and Jang with Type F2-O2-S4-A3. The conclusion of the study is that this development design model went through several stages, namely the stage of determining data sources, collecting data, analyzing data, generating ideas, describing models, urgency of procedures, concept validation, providing recommendations for testing procedures, practical validation, describing model II.

Abstract

Jigsaw learning strategy is considered effective in enhancing students’ learning outcomes. Yet, it is problematic for a science classroom that contains educational challenges. The aim of this study was to investigate the implementation of the jigsaw learning in science classes in Indonesian classrooms. This included the feasibility of the jigsaw strategy, the challenges that interfered with the implementations, and the necessary approach to fit the strategy with the challenges. A qualitative case study was used. Three chemistry classes (each consisted of 35 grade 11 students) and a chemistry teacher were involved in this study. Data were collected from classroom observations and interviews. The findings showed that jigsaw learning was not fully feasible as it could not be completely implemented in the participating classes. Unsupportive educational settings such as time limitation, large population, the ill-sized classroom, teacher’s lack of participation and the complexity of the jigsaw structure had influenced the lack of success of the implementations. Rather than seeking help from educational supports that normally involves a financial-concern educational policy, this study recommends adjusting the jigsaw structure to increase its feasibility in such learning condition.

Abstract

Innovative and fun learning can be realized through various ways, one of which is by using relevant and interesting media. This study aims to produce a student learning worksheet based on the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach on the ecosystem material for class VII, and to determine the effectiveness of the use of the student worksheet. This is a research and development research using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The development process data was collected using a validation questionnaire of design experts, material experts, teacher and student questionnaires and student learning outcomes data after using the worksheet. The results of the assessment by material experts obtained average value 3.11 (good category) while the assessment by media experts obtained average value 3.30 (very good category). Assessment by students gets average value 90.33 (very well category), the assessment by teacher gets average value 10.82 (very good categories). The use of the developed student worksheet in the learning process shows a significant increase in the average learning outcomes from 52.31 to 72.69 (increase 20.38). The produced student learning worksheet is declared appropriate for use in learning.
