Abstract

This study isaimed at analyzing the optimization ofrice provision at distributor level in Bau-BauMunicipality using the 2010 data as a basis for planning the provision in the following years. This is an explanatory study in which the data are gathered through a survey method. The population ofthe study is 8 rice distributors. The data are analyzed using a descriptive method to identify some endeavors done by the distributors. The EOQ model is used to determine the number and time of fixed orders to minimize costs. The model ofprovision rolling is usedto analyze the time length for the capital put in stock and the simple nonlinear regression is used to predict the selling based on the data ofmonthly selling in 2010. This study shows the following findings. First, the efforts made by rice distributors are able to optimize the rice provision although some improvement is still needed. These include orders that should be placed before stock off, payment that ismade right after delivery and honesty and trustworthy that is encouraged to build among suppliers and distributors. Second, the total maximum order for each distributor ranges from 153.63 to 532.68, averaging of304.18tons ofrice. This maximum order ismade when stocks reach about 4.45 up to 21.78 tons, averaging of9.34tons. The total minimum costvaries about Rp 4,893,690, up to Rp 17,894,090, averaging ofRp 9,869,222. Third, the rolling ofrice provision is atminimum of6 times per year. Fourth, the distributor estimate is in the average of56.38tons for the monthly selling between January and June 2010. The selling estimate by each distributoris in the average of56.38tons. The total order for each two months ranges from 111.01 up to 114.31 averaging of 112.69 tons,

Abstract

This research is motivated by the unequal production of cayenne pepper in all regency cities in Southeast Sulawesi, Resulting in the distribution to some regions that cause price changes that may occur at any time. Changes in the price of cayenne pepper are used by intermediary traders to manipulate prices at the consumer level and at the producer level, the data shows that between 1992 and 2014 there was a difference between the price of cayenne pepper between the consumer market and the producer market. The purpose of this study was to analyze the vertical integration of commodity market of cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) in Southeast Sulawesi. This research was conducted in January 2017 until May 2017. The data used are secondary data sourced from Disperindag and BPS in the form of time series data from 1992 to 2014. The analysis method used is Johansen Cointegration and Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The results show that the vertical market of cayenne pepper between producers and consumers in Southeast Sulawesi has been integrated with the long term, While in the short term there has been no integration of producer and consumer markets. Where price relation occurs only one direction that producer price influence consumer price while consumer price does not influence producer price, If both markets are interconnected then the market is integrated. Based on this, it is expected that the active role of extension agents and farmer groups to provide price information, So that producers, can know the price information that occurs at the consumer level vice versa.

Abstract

The research was backed by extensive growth differences by production, harvesting, and productivity at the level of Southeast Sulawesi Province and South Konawe Regency. Data at the provincial level indicate that wetland paddy has increased harvested area, production, and productivity, whereas dryland paddy has decreased harvested area, production, and productivity.  In addition, there is a difference in the practice of cultivation, the technology and the prices of products between wetland paddy and dryland paddy. This research aims to analyze the difference of income and efficiency among wetland paddy farming in Cialam Jaya Village Konda Sub-district with dryland paddy farming in Wolasi Village Wolasi Sub-district. The determination of the research area is done purposively on the considerations of the largest of wetlands and harvest area of dryland paddy in each sub-district of producers. The research  from December 2016 until July 2017. The Total of wetland paddy farmers as many as 56 respondents and dryland paddy farmers as many as 13 respondents.  Data analysis used analyses of income, R-C ratio and different test (independent samples t-test).         The results of the research showed that the wetland paddy farming income amount Rp 9.743.521/Ha/MT and the efficiency value from revenue to cost 3,00, while the income of dryland paddy farming amount Rp 4.989.634/Ha/MT and the efficiency value from revenue to cost 1,66. The results of the analysis of the different test (independent samples t-test) showed that there is no significant income disparity between wetland paddy farming with dryland paddy farming, whereas for efficiency, there is a significant efficiency disparity between wetland paddy farming with dryland paddy farming. The income and efficiency of wetland paddy farming is bigger than dryland paddy farming. The author suggests to Local Government of South Konawe Regency in order to increase production to achieve food self-sufficiency, it is necessary done intensive outreach to farmers about the use of organic fertilizers and organic pesticides to maintain the sustainability of land and suppress the production costs.
