Abstract

Pembelajaran matematika yang dilakukan di SMP Negeri 06 Batu masih berupa pembelajaran langsung yang membuat siswa terbatasi idenya dan tidak mengkonstruksi pengetahuan. Penerapan pendekatan saintifik kurang optimal karena baru diterapkan di sekolah tersebut. Tujuan kegiatan Lesson Study ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa melalui penerapan pembelajaran saintifik. Kegiatan Lesson Study dilakukan dengan tahapan plan, do, dan see selama empat siklus. Pembuatan perangkat pembelajaran didiskusikan pada tahap plan kemudian dilaksanakan pada tahap do oleh guru model dan dievaluasi pada tahap see. Hasil kegiatan Lesson Study ini yaitu masih adanya miskonsepsi istilah variabel dan pengurangan suku aljabar oleh guru dan siswa. Selain itu, terdapat peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa sesuai aspek fluency, flexibility, dan originality dengan kriteria peningkatan yang baik di setiap siklus. Pendekatan saintifik diterapkan dengan sangat baik di setiap siklus.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' mathematical communication skillsboth oral and written. The communication ability is observed through theapplication of cooperative learning model type TGT for set theory. Theresearch design was qualitative descriptive. The subjects of the study were 17students of class VII-B. The learning material were lesson plan,discussion group, game group, worksheet, game question, and written test.The research instruments were observation sheet of teacher activity, writtenand oral mathematical communication ability. The results of the study at thefirst meeting showed that the ability of oral mathematical communication hadsufficient category and written had low category. The second meeting of oralmathematical communication skills had sufficient category and written wasbetter than before. Oral mathematical communication improved at the thirdmeeting, while written in the low category. The fourth meeting was increasedin the ability of oral and written mathematical communication, for high oralmathematical communication and written with high category as well. Thestudents' mathematical communication skills from the first to fourthmeetings had increased. The average overall ability of oral and writtenmathematical communication was sufficient

Abstract

This study aims to describe the critical thinking skills ofhomeschooling students in solving mathematical problems. The type ofthis research is descriptive research with qualitative approach. Subjects inthis study were six students homeschooling is equivalent to junior highschool students class IX. Data were obtained through tests and interviews.Test are identified and described in accordance with the achievement ofstudents towards critical thinking indicators used in this research thatclarification, assessment, strategy/ tactics, and inference. The results of theinterviews are used to further strengthen the data on homeschoolingstudents' critical thinking skills. The results showed that onehomeschooling student is in the category of less critical, four students areon quite critical category and only one student in a critical category.This suggests that homeschooling students' critical thinking skills arelow. Low critical thinking skills are affected by limitations homeschoolingstudent learning of mathematics is done, students 'mathematical ability andmathematical learning processes that do not yet geared to developinghomeschooling students' critical thinking skills. So that based on the resultsof this study are advised to make the learning process of mathematics todevelop homeschooling students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This research is aimed to describe about motivation and mathematics learninginterest of students in Madrasah Tsanawiyah. The type of this research isdescriptive research with quantitative and qualitative approaches. The sampleof this research is 49 students of class VII, 60 students of class VIII, and 47students of class IX. The researcher used questionnaires in this research as thedata collection techniques. Based on the obtained analysis, the averageindicator of motivation to learn mathematics that include: facing the taskdiligently for about 2,8 is categorized as fairly well, interesting learningactivities of 3,22 is categorized good, encouragement, needs andappreciations of learning have the same average that is equal to 2,7 iscategorized fairly well, the conducive learning environment of 2,58 iscategorized fairly well, with students’ average motivation to learnmathematics in Madrasah Tsanawiyah for about 2,8 and categorized fairlywell. The average indicator of interest in mathematics learning whichincludes: attention in learning mathematics of 3,11 is categorized good, theexcitement in learning mathematics equal to 3,04 is categorized good, theinterest in learning mathematics equal to 2,71 is categorized as fairly well,with the average of students’ learning interest in mathematics of MadrasahTsanawiyah for about 2,95 and categorized as fairly well

Abstract

This study aims to describe student’s mathematical problemsolving abilities with high, medium, and low emotional intelligence. Thetype of this research is descriptive with qualitative-quantitative approach.Subjects in this study were students of Class VII of SMPN 3 Maron whichamounted to 9 students. Data Obtained through questionnaires, tests, andinterviews. Data analysis techniques used are Likert scale, average andpercentage. The results showed the ability to solve mathematical problemsbased on the stages of Newman items, namely: students with high levels ofemotional intelligence: (1) reading the problem, determining keywords, (2)understanding the problem, determining sufficient conditions, necessaryterms and change the problem into the mathematical sentence, (3) theproblem of transformation, determining relevant strategy, (4) process skills,executing strategy, (5) writing the answer, finding the answer and conclusion.Students with moderate emotional intelligence: (1) reading the problem,hesitating to determine keywords, (2) understanding the problem, beingable to determine sufficient conditions and necessary conditions but cannotchange the problem into mathematical sentences, (3) the problem oftransformation, relevant strategies, (4) process skills, being able to executethe strategy but less accurate on the calculation process, (5) writing answers,answers and conclusions are less precise. Students with low emotionalintelligence: (1) reading problems, not being able to determine keywords, (2)understanding the problem, being able to determine sufficient terms andconditions necessary but not yet able to change the problem intomathematical sentences, (3) transformation problem, less relevant, (4)process skills, many errors in the calculation process and did not completeuntil the final stage, (5) writing answers, have not found answers andconclusions.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the level of students' reasoning ability to solve the problems on flat sides of Geometry with the level of mathematical reasoning ability of high, moderate and low. The types and the research approaches used were descriptive qualitative and quantitative research design. The research subjectswere 6 students from class VIIIF. The form of data collection included 4 items ofwritten questions test and interview on the subject selected. Based on the analysis, the average value of the entire instrument about the mathematical reasoning abilities gained 71.5% for the indicators that carried out the calculations based on mathematical formulas or rules applicable. While 73.33% and 71.5% for the indicator of conclusions and 66.67% for the indicator ofestimation, that ifsummedup and averaged the percentage was 69%. The ability of class VIIIF students’ mathematical reasoning was fair.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the ability of mathematical literacy’s male and female students in Grade VIII. Based on the results of the interview, teacher accustomed to adopt problems of the textbook and national exams. Mathematical literacy was important to resolve the real problem in the form of the story matter. The research method used descriptive research. Data obtained from the mathematical literacy ability tests and interviews. The data was analyzed by observing the stages of how students in solving a problem were given. The results of the study were male students mathematical literacy ability was good enough in the settlement of the question of tests and reasonable when interviewed. Female students already have pretty good abilities in tests but were still lacking in reasoning and confident at interview sessions. Both of the students were men and women overall have been able to meet the competencies of mathematical literacy

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peningkatan koneksi matematis siswa melalui pembelajaran berbasis masalah. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif dengan data kualitatif. Hal ini ditinjau dari keterlaksanaan pembelajaran berbasis masalah dan indicator peningkatan koneksi matematis. Penelitian dilalukan selama empat kali pertemuan dengan subyek penelitian kelas IPA dan kelas IPS. Data diperoleh dengan cara mencatat pada lembar catatan lapangan dan lembar observasi dengan bantuan observer. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu adanya peningkatan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa dalam mempelajari materi eksponen dan matriks. Hal ini ditinjau dari analisis hasil pengerjaan soal siswa yang sudah dapat mengkaitkan materi sebelumnya. Akan tetapi, pada indicator koneksi matematis dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, siswa belum dapat menjelaskan adanya keterkaitan materi dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how the effect of the Quantum Learning model using Mind Mapping techniques to students' creative thinking abilities. The type of research used is experiment and quantitative approach with research design using posttest only group design. Data analysis of two groups used the t-test on SPSS 21, that is Independent Sample t-Test to test the difference in average posttest value of two samples.The results of this study are (1) results of the t-test  from post-test data obtain a significance 0,000 where it is lower than 0.05 so can be said that the average of the two groups are different, (2) from the post-test results, the answers given by students from the experimental group more fulfilled the indicators of creative thinking than students from the control group.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the level of understanding the concept and critical thinking in resolving trigonometric equations using graphs. Tests and interviews were conducted to search for data and study more in the ability to understand the concepts and critical thinking skills that students have in resolving trigonometric equations using graphs. The test given to the students is a test of the explanation with the subject of his research is a class XI student. The subject selection of six students is based on the category of ability and daily replay value of the student in trigonometric materials. The six students are each ? two students of high, medium and low categories. The results showed that the ability level of understanding students ' concepts in determining the set of solving trigonomic equations using graphs, gained students understanding the concept of high and moderate levels. Students with a high level of understanding are able to fulfill all indicators ? an indicator of concept comprehension. Students with the level of understanding of concepts are also meeting the indicators of understanding the concept but less appropriate, which has not been able to identify the properties of a concept. Students are also less able to classify objects based on the requirements that make up the concept. The level of students ' critical thinking ability to determine the set of solving trigonomic equations using graphs obtained by the subject of students critical thinking moderate and low levels. Students with critical thinking levels are not yet able to meet interpretation indicators, i.e. students have not been able to understand and write the answer to the problem given. Students with critical thinking levels are also underprivileged to meet critical indicators of inference. Students with critical thinking levels are less able to draw conclusions, i.e. less capable of providing the right reasons for student work. Students with critical thinking levels are low, not yet capable of meeting critical thinking indicators in determining the set solving trigonometric equations using graphs. Students have not been able to meet all indicators of critical thinking ability.
