Abstract

In agreement with students’ conceptual understanding, identifying of problem solving is an important part of physics. This article is to identify the approach used by students in solving a physics problem. The subject of the research were students of physics education year 2014 in Jambi University who had joined basic physics class. The instruments used in this research were DIRECT (determining and interpreting resistive electric circuit concept test) (Engelhardt & Beichner, 2004). Based on the result, 34,1% students still used the memory based approach in problem solving, 52,3% of them used no clear approach, 4,5% used structured manner, 6,82% used unstructured manner and only 2,27% students used a scientific approach to solving the problem. The result showed that many students used no clear approach and memory based approach to solve the problem. It mean that they did not use physics concept in solving the problem and generally they only used the equation they memorized related to the problem they ever did before.

Abstract

Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kemampuan pemecahan masalah mahasiswa setelah dibelajarkan dengan pembelajaran guided inquiry berbantuan PhET. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan mixed method dengan desain embeded eksperimental model. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 35 mahasiswa pendidikan fisika Universitas Negeri Jambi yang sedang menempuh mata kuliah Fisika Dasar II. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan skor kemampuan pemecahan masalah mahasiswa setelah dibelajarkan dengan pembelajaran guided inquiry berbantuan PhET dengan N-gain dalam kategori sedang dan effect size dalam kategori kuat. Jika dilihat dari daya beda pretest dan posttest didapatkan nilai t sebesar 12,48 dengan signifikansi 0,000. Hasil ini menunjukkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah sebelum diajarkan dan setelah diajarkan guided inquiry berbantuan PhET berbeda secara signifikan dengan nilai posttest lebih baik dari pretest. The aim of this study is to know the ability of student’s problem solving after studied with  guided inquiry and PhET simulations. This study used mixed method with a design of the embedded experimental model to get result of research. The subjects are 35 students of physics education in Jambi University who learning basic physics. The result shows that scores of students problem-solving ability increase after learned with guided inquiry assisted PhET with N-Gain in the medium category and the effect size in the high category. If viewed from different pretest and posttest show t values 12,48 and 0,000 significance. These results indicate that skill of problem-solving before and after learned with collaborate guided inquiry and PhET significantly different with the value of posttest is better than the pretest.

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to analyze the relationship between students' honest character towards the learning outcomes of integrated science in calor and its transfer material in SMP Negeri 6 Kota Jambi, and analyze the level of relations of the two variables. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative method. The population in this research were 61 students of class VIIA and VIIB SMP Negeri 6 Kota Jambi. The Data in this research were obtained by the results of filling out questionnaires and quiz distributed directly to the subject, as well as documentation and observation techniques. The data analysis in this research used descriptive statistical calculations. The results of the analysis show that there is a significant relationship between students' honest character towards integrated science learning outcomes. The level of relationship between students' honest character toward integrated science learning outcomes is in a very strong category where the Pearson Correlations value is obtained at 0.919. Thus, if the higher the level of honesty of students, the higher the learning outcomes that will be achieved, in this case on integrated science subjects. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara karakter jujur siswa terhadap hasil belajar IPA terpadu materi kalor dan perpindahannya di SMP Negeri 6 Kota Jambi, serta menganalisis tingkat hubungan dari kedua variabel tersebut. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kuantitaf. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah 61 siswa kelas VIIA dan VIIB SMP Negeri 6 Kota Jambi. Data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh dari hasil pengisian angket dan kuesioner yang disebarkan langsung ke subjek, serta dilakukan teknik dokumentasi dan observasi. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan perhitungan statistik deskriptif. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara karakter jujur siswa terhadap hasil belajar IPA terpadu. Tingkat hubungan karakter jujur siswa terhadap hasil belajar IPA terpadu berada pada kategori sangat kuat dimana nilai Pearson Correlations diperoleh sebesar 0,919. Dengan demikian, apabila semakin tinggi tingkat kejujuran siswa, maka semakin tinggi pula hasil belajar yang akan dicapai, dalam hal ini pada mata pelajaran IPA terpadu.

Abstract

The consequence of the assessment for the research statistics course at the department of physics Education in Universitas Jambi demonstrates the students' capacities to hold the idea of the mastery of research statistical concept is very low. It winds up one of the shortcomings for them to finish their final assignment. Therefore, the researcher examined the student's mastery of the research statistical concept by utilizing Problem-Based Learning as one of the methods that were chosen from the learning advancement. The research method is quantitative with 295 numbers of samples. Questionnaires and MCQs were used as the instruments of the research. The result had been investigated utilizing a simple regression analysis. PBL influences the mastery of research statistical concept. In 6th semester male students', the impact of PBL toward the mastery of the research statistical concept contributed 72% and 67% for female students. Meanwhile, for students at 8th semesters, the impact of PBL on the mastery of research statistical concept contributed 68% for male and 70% for female.

Abstract

Karakter adalah fondasi bangsa yang sangat penting dan perlu ditanamkan sejak dini kepada anak-anak. Namun, proses pendidikan masih belum ber-hasil membangun manusia Indonesia yang berkarakter, dan hasil belajar merupakan sesuatu yang didapatkan melalui proses belajar, baik didapatkan di sekolah, lingkungan sosial maupun di keluarga. Kami melakukan pene-litian terhadap siswa Sekolah Mengah Pertama, tentang apakah karakter siswa mempengaruhi hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian survey menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini adalah uji asumsi yaitu uji normalitas dan linieritas, dan uji hipotesis yaitu uji korelasi atau statistik parametrik. subjek dalam pene-litian ini adalah siswa SMPN 5 Muaro Jambi. hasil dari penelitian ini Ter-dapat pengaruh yang positif dan signifikan semua variabel bebas X (angket sikap toleransi siswa) terhadap variabel terikat Y (hasil belajar siswa) baik pada kelas VIII-C maupun pada kelas VIII-D yang dibuktikan dengan uji statistik parametrik atau uji korelasi pearson dimana nilai sig 0,05.AbstractCharacter is the foundation of the nation that is very important and needs. However, the educational process still has not succeeded in building Indonesian human character, and learning outcomes are something that is obtained through the learning process, both obtained in school, social environment, and the family. We research the students of junior high school, about whether student character influences student learning outcomes. This study uses a type of survey research. The data of this the study uses quantitative data, the data analysis technique in this study is the assumption test, namely the test for normality and linearity, and hypothesis testing, namely the correlation test or parametric statistics. the subjects in this study were students of SMPN 5 MUARO JAMBI. the results of this study There is a positive and significant effect of all independent variables X (student attitude tolerance questionnaire) on the dependent variable Y (student learning outcomes) both in class VIII-C and in-class VIII-D as evidenced by parametric statistical tests or correlation tests Pearson where the value is sig 0.05.

Abstract

Abstrak. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan pengunaan PhET Interactive Simulations sebagai pendukung maupun penganti laboratorium real dalam pembelajaran fisika. Adapun topik yang diangkat meliputi apa itu PhET interactive simulation, kegunaan PhET interactive simulation dalam pembelajaran fisika dan pengaruh pengunaan Phet Interactive Simulation dalam pembelajaran fisika dibanding laboratorium Real. Analisis data dilakukan dengan meeduksi data berdasarkan pertanyaan penelitian dan kemudian dilakukan pengkodean sesuai kebutuhan. Berdasarkan hasil studi literatur didapatkan bahwa PhET merupakan sebuah simulasi yang dikembangkan oleh Universitas Colorado yang difokuskan pada pembelajaran fisika yang menekankan korespondensi antara fenomena nyata dan simulasi komputer kemudian menyajikannya dalam model-model konseptual fisis yang mudah dimengerti oleh para peserta didik. Simulasi ini dapat membantu peserta didik maupun peserta didik dalam mengenal topik baru, membangun konsep atau skill, memperkuat ide, menyediakan hasil akhir dan refleksi serta menyediakan visualisasi umum antara peserta didik dan guru. Selain itu juga hasil dari beberapa penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengunaan PhET memberikan pengaruh yang berbeda dari segi penguasaan konsep, hasil belajar dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah peserta didik, karena PhET dapat menjelaskan konsep yang abstrak dan dalam pengunaannya tidak memerlukan waktu yang banyak.Kata kunci: PhET, Pembelajaran Fisika Abstract. This article aims to explain the use of PhET Interactive Simulations as supporters and substitutes for real laboratories in learning physics. The topics raised include what is PhET interactive simulation, the use of PhET interactive simulation in learning physics and the effect of using Phet Interactive Simulation in learning physics compared to the Real laboratory. Data analysis was performed by reducing data based on research questions and then coding them as needed. Based on the results of the literature study it was found that PhET is a simulation developed by the University of Colorado that is focused on learning physics that emphasizes the correspondence between real phenomena and computer simulations and then presents it in physical conceptual models that are easily understood by students. This simulation can help students and students recognize new topics, develop concepts or skills, strengthen ideas, provide final results and reflections and provide general visualization between students and teachers. In addition, the results of several studies indicate that the use of PhET gives different effects in terms of mastery of concepts, learning outcomes and students' problem solving abilities, because PhET can explain abstract concepts and their use does not require a lot of time.Keywords: PhET, physics learning

Abstract

This study aims to determine the description of students' problem solving skills in direct current electricity in physics subjects which are conducted through Distance Learning (PJJ). This type of research is quantitative research. The research subjects were 26 students of class XII MIPA 7 SMA Negeri 1 Kota Jambi. The data was collected using a direct current electrical problem solving skills test questions consisting of 6 essay questions. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics. From the results of data analysis, it is known that the lowest score is 14 and the highest score is 46, and the average result of the students' problem solving skills test is 37. Meanwhile, the percentage of each student's problem solving stage is classified as very bad. Thus, it was concluded that the problem solving skills of class XII MIPA 7 students on direct current electricity through PJJ were classified as very low criteria.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji literatur mengenai model problem based learning untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan mengumpulkan buku-buku dan jurnal-jurnal terkait kemudian dibaca dan dikaji. Setelah data terkumpul, dilakukan pengujian dan perbandingan data yang ditemukan. Teknik analisis data dilakukan secara kualitatif dengan pengutipan pendapat-pendapat yang sesuai. Hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa model problem based learning merupakan model yang sangat baik digunakan dalam pembelajaran fisika dan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa. Hal tersebut terlihat dari banyaknya teori belajar yang mendukung model problem based learning dan berhasil dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa.
