Abstract

A sound banking system is vital in supporting a sound and strong economy. One of the important pillars of a sound banking system is market discipline, which is the reaction ofthe market makers on the risks taken by banks as a form of supervision and discipline. The objectives of this paper are to examine: (i) the existence of market discipline by depositors in the deposit insurance era by the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS); (ii) the difference in market discipline by depositors before and after the policy of increasing the value of deposit covered; (iii) the difference between market discipline by depositors of Islamic banks with conventional banks. The data used are annually individual bank data from the Indonesian Banking Directory (DPI) in 2005-2009. The dependent variable is the change in deposits, which is used as proxy for market discipline in t period. The independent variables used are CAR, APB, NIM, and LDR as proxy of financial risk/fundamental condition of the bank in t-1 period. The result indicates the existence ofmarket discipline in Indonesia and also shows that market discipline is detected stronger in the period 2005-2007 than the period 2008-2009. This study also indicates that marketdiscipline by depositors of Islamic banks are stronger than those of conventional.Keywords: market discipline, deposit insurance, Islamic and conventional banks.

Abstract

This article analyzes the influence of spiritual intelligence, the lifestyle of hedonism and financial knowledge on personal finance management housewives in the Village Gebanganom Wetan Kecamatan Kangkung Kendal. Methods of data collection as much as 94 housewives with the technique of proportional stratified random sampling, data analysis including the validity test, reliability test, normality test, multicollinearity test, hetereskedastisitas, autocorrelation test, multiple linear regression analysis, t test, F test and coefficient of determination (R2) with the software eviews 10. The value of multiple linear regression Y = 9,860 + 0,290X1 + 0,162X2 + 0,467X3 + e , t test shows that financial knowledge significant positive effect on financial management personal, spiritual intelligence and hedonistic lifestyle has no significant effect on personal financial management. F test results showed that the three variables simultaneously affect the management of personal finance. The coefficient of determination (R2) shows the results 0,181 which means 18,1% spiritual intelligence, the lifestyle of hedonism and knowledge of the financial effect on the financial management of the personal, the rest of 81.9% influenced by other factors outside the research.Keywords : spiritual Intelligence, hedonistic lifestyle, financial literacy, personal finance Management, housewife

Abstract

Hasil ini memberikan dukungan terhadap hipotesis asimetri informasi dengan proses pengurangan asimetri informasi untuk meningkatkan inklusi keuangan. Pengurangan asimetri ini mengindikasikan adanya pembelajaran yang perlu kajian lebih lanjut untuk mengungkapkan mekanisme dan prosesnya. Karakteristik demografis rumah tangga tertentu mengarah pada rumah tangga dengan inklusi keuangan yang baik, yaitu berkesejahteraan baik, seperti berpendidikan baik, berkeluarga, pendapatan tetap, bahagia dan bersikap positif. Berdasarkan tiga pertanyaan penelitian pada rumusan masalah yang telah disampaikan pada bagian pendahuluan dan pembahasan hasil, dapat disimpulkan: 1. Penggunaan keuangan mikro berpengaruh positif terhadap akses keuangan bank. Hal ini menegaskan bahwa penggunaan produk keuangan mikro meningkatkan kemungkinan penggunaan produk keuangan bank. 2. Penggunaan produk simpanan formal/bank berpengaruh positif terhadap pinjaman pada bank. Hal ini berarti bahwa penggunaan produk simpanan dan pinjaman bank dapat saling menguatkan. Artinya, relasi yang terjalin dari simpanan dapat menjadi sarana pengurangan asimetri informasi untuk mengakses pinjaman, khususnya pada saat membutuhkan dana yang besar. 3. Interaksi sosial berpengaruh signifikan terhadap inklusi keuangan. Interaksi sosial dalam bentuk kedekatan dengan tokoh masyarakat memperlihatkan hubungan yang positif dan signifikan yang berarti mendukung hipotesis asimetri informasi, sedangkan interaksi sosial dengan banyaknya aktivitas sosial mengindikasikan hubungan negatif terhadap akses keuangan yang berarti mendukung hipotesis modal sosial.

Abstract

The current development of Islamic banking industry in Indonesia is rapidly growing. This article analyzes the Islamic banking industry in Indonesia using Porter’s five-forces competitive industry approach. Each of the power industry are discussed. The conclusion indentifies Islamic banking industry conditions that need to be considered.

Abstract

The controversy about superiority of market model or multi-factors model keeps as interesting research theme in finance. This paper try to analyse some return generating models using several individual stocks and a portfolio composed from six listed stocks in Jakarta Islamic Index. The result shows that market model outperforms multifactors or macro model. Abstract

The existence on street hawkers increase fastly in line with economic crisis and reformation. This situation need to be managed. The policy of street hawkers settlement in Semarang has been ruled in local or regional law. One of this policy implementation was Citarum street hawkers relocation from Citarum street to the Pasar Waru. This relocation has been done orderly, unlike another street hawkers relocation which oftentimes generate oposition between street hawkers and local government. The aim of this research was to get the whole description and chronology of Citarum street hawkers relocation case to the Pasar Waru; to analyze the relocation process and important lessons that can be taken from good or bad practices from street hawkers relocation case; and to make policy recomendation of street hawker settlement model. This was a descriptif-qualitatif research. Data and information was got from interview and mass-media information.Conclutions and recomendations of this research were: the relocation of street hawkers to the market (Pasar Waru) was good and visionary policy. But it should be continued with adequate facility from government to support the prospect of street hawkers in new location. Relocation process need a persuasive and dialogist methods which can develop mutually understanding between government, street hawkers, and society around, in order to improve settlement, orderlines, and prosperity. Abstract

AbstractThis paper reviews spirituality which is a new subject in the study of organizational behavior. By doing a literature review, this paper discuss the concept of spirituality, development and research examples, and some previous theoretical concepts that could form the basis of theoretical study of the development of spirituality in organizational behavior. In the future, the study of spirituality can be developed further by strengthening the theoretical foundation and improve the design of empirical research methodology.Keywords: Spirituality, organizational behaviorAbstrakTulisan ini mengkaji spiritualitas yang merupakan bahasan baru dalam kajian perilaku organisasional. Abstract

Customer satisfaction could different on different of time, place and customer.  Satisfaction on service institution is almost linked with service quality.  The research explored effect syariate bank service quality on customer satisfaction in Semarang Branch  of Bank Muamalat Indonesia. Service quality on this research referred on six dimentions  of banking service quality which had been stated by Othman and Owen (2001), included of compliance, assurance, reliability, tangibles, empathy, and responsiveness (CARTER). Compliance dimention was the uniqueness dimention on syariate service institution, specially on syariate bank. Based on 100 (one hundred) Semarang branch customer respondents  of Bank Muamalat Indonesia was yield  three significant dimentions e.g.: responsiveness, assurance, and compliance, while the four others did not significant. But  the CARTER model was still  good to predict customer satisfaction,  referred on determinant coeffitien and F test product.  Based on classical assumption test product the regression model could be categorized as good

Abstract

AbstractWord-of-Mouth Marketing (WOMM) becomes more important in todays marketing communication activities. Rapid development of information and communication technology and decrease credibility of conventional promotion make it more effective tool for marketing communication. This article attempts to explore WOMM as a communication marketing mix from some literatures. This article divide in four section. The first, it shows the relevance and importance of WOMM. Second, it discuss the relationship of WOMM with marketing communication. Third, describe recent research in WOMM area. Abstract

Supervision and market discipline is an act of market participants in response to the performance and risk of the bank. Market discipline has realized its importance in supporting the creation of a sound banking, and has been adopted in the Basel II as one of the pillars of sound banking. One of the prerequisites of effective market discipline is the transparency of bank information to market participants. Transparency and market discipline in Islamic banks are becoming more important as application -sharing system, in which the Islamic bank depositors are theoretically exposed to a higher risk than conventional bank customers who receive definitive results. The importance of transparency and market discipline in Islamic banks has been realized with the formulation of the principles of transparency and disclosure of information in order to improve market discipline on banks by the sharia Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) in 2007.This paper examines the theoretical framework of market discipline, the principles of transparency in promoting Islamic banking market discipline prepared by the IFSB, and various disciplines of research results in the banking market and the Indonesian Islamic banking. From the results of this study, formulated a variety of challenges and things that need to be considered to improve transparency and encourage market discipline of Islamic banking in Indonesia. At the end, delivered various subsequent recommendations to improve transparency and market discipline practices of Islamic banking in Indonesia.
