Abstract

Pulai(Alstonia scholaris L.) wood widely used because it’s easy to obtained and demand is quite high. Pulai wood included in durable class V and strong class IV-V, so easily attacked by termite (wood destructive organisms). To prevent and reduce the impact of termite attack, we can utilize natural materials as basic materials botanical termiticide. Materials derived from plants are guaranteed environmentally friendly, because it’s quickly decomposes on ground and does not harm the non-target. One of the potential is jengkol (Pithecellobium lobatum Benth.) fruit skin. This research aimed to know about the effectiveness and potential of jengkol fruit skin extract as botanical termiticide  to controlling termite (Coptotermes curvignathus Holmgren.) attack at pulai wood. This research used Completely Random Design method wich consists of 4 treatments and 3 replicates with concentration levels of extract, T0 = 0 g/l of water (0%); T1 = 21 g/l of water (2%); T2 = 42 g/l of water (4%); T3 = 64 g/l of water (6%). The results showed that the application jengkol fruit skin extract at the concentration 4% and 6% is the best treatment to controlling termite, with total mortality amounted to 100%. The value of retention meets National Standards ofIndonesia amounted to 8,58kg/m3 (interior) 4% treatment and 12,35 kg/m3 (exterior) 6% treatment. Both of it also, able to improve the resilience of pulai wood into class II with termite consumption levels lower than control treatment. Jengkol fruit skin extract is effective and has potential as base material botanical termiticide. Keywords: Pithecellobium lobatum Benth., Alstonia scholaris L., Coptotermes curvignathus Holmgren., Botanical Termiticide

Abstract

Eucalyptus pellita is one of plants that was developved as industrial timber plantations (ITP) and has entered third rotations in Riau. Overlay peat medium is handicap ITP business in Riau. Therefore it is urgent to determine treatment for the improvement of the peat medium. This research aims to determine influence of ash saw dust and green fertilizer type leguminoceae formulated to Eucalyptus pellita seedlings in peat medium and the best dosage to growth of Eucalyptus pellita seedlings. Research using randomized complete design (RCD) consist of five treatments and four replications and five units trial. T0 = No provision of  ash saw dust and green fertilizer type leguminoceae formulated ; T1 = 125 gr/polybag, T2 = 225 gr/polybag, T3 = 325 gr/polybag,and T4 = 425 gr/polybag. Research proved that the aplication in peat medium can increase the quality of Eucalyptus pellita seedlings. The aplication with a dosages 425 gr/polybag in peat medium is the best treatment  to percent of live (100,00%), the height growth (23,44 cm) and top root/ratio (2,00). Keywords:Eucalyptus pellita F. Abstract

Forest provide great benefits to society arround forest even direct advantage or indirect advantage. Bee Trigona spp. is a type of honey bees that often kept traditionally by the rural society with used gelodok. Production’s honey of Trigona spp. a bit of limited. Before it cultivated and to get it shoukd be looking for in the forest directly, beside that the production of honey still a bit low (1-2 kg or about 2 liter per colony per year). Bee Trigona spp. can be found in tropical rain forest, one of which is in Traditional Forest the Prohibition Rumbio Village Kampar Regency. This study aims to identify the characteristics of the habitat Trigona spp. in Traditional Forest the Prohibition Rumbio Village Kampar Regency. The method of this reseacrh using  survey method. The information about the nest of Trigona spp. in Traditional Forest the Prohibition Rumbio Village consist of red chelate tree (Syzygium sp.), kempas (Koompassia malaccensis), jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus) and dead tree. The average daily temprature and humidity about 28,3-31,0ºC with average about 29,8ºC and humidity about 80,5-83% with average 81,8 %.Key words: Trigona spp., Traditional Forest the Prohibition, honey.

Abstract

Indonesia has the potential of natural resources is very high and plentiful. One of them from forest products, both timber forest products and non timber forest products. Bee Trigona spp. is one of the non timber forest resources potential products developed as the price of honey and propolis are high. Cultivation Trigona spp. still a bit of doing at the moment. Around Indigenous Forests of Rumbio ban is one of the locations that have the potential for cultivation Trigona spp. because it has abundant natural resources and nature of the support for the development of the bee. This study aims to determine the prospects for cultivation development Trigona spp. around Forest Prohibition of Indigenous of Rumbio Kampar regency. Materials research is a questionnaire sheet. The data have been analyzed by qualitative analysis. Research showed that the development of cultivation Trigona spp. very suitable to be developed around the Prohibition of Indigenous Forests of Rumbio because climatic conditions in accordance with the development of the bee, the land available for cultivation, as well as the availability of various types of plants produce nectar and pollen as a food source Trigona spp. Key words: Prospects for Development, Indigenous Prohibition Forest, Cultivation Trigona spp.

Abstract

Bukit Tiga Puluh National Parks (TNBT) is a nature conservation area which the management are influence by people activities in the surrounding area. Public perception can be identified with an individual responsesto something they have been seen, heard, and felt in their environment.Forest and land fires always happens every year. One of the government effort to reduce the forest and land fires is by releasing a policy to handling the catastrophe of forest and land fires. Survey method is a way of collecting dara where the researcher or the data collector give a question or statement to the respondent either in verbally or in writing. There are 38 respondent taken 30 respondents from the three villages, and 8 respondents to the relevant institutions 2 respondents from National Park, 2 respondents from the forestry service and 4 respondents from non government organizations. The result showed that most of the villagers didn’t know about the government policy on forest and land fires. This research shows that 50% of Rantau Langsat villagers, 100% of Sungai Akar villagers, and 70% of Talang Lakat villagers didn’t know yet about the policy of the forest and land fires. Keywords: National Park, Forest and Land Fires, Policy, Public Perception
