Abstract

 The study aimed at measuring the effect of translanguaging approach in teaching Arabic reading comprehension to the second semester students of Indonesian Education Department, Universitas Iqra Buru. 64 students involved as the participants through simple random sampling technique. 32 students participated in each of the experimental and control group. The researchers used reading test of written test to obtain information about the students’ achievemnt in reading on the use of translanguaging approach and it was distributed to the respondents after the last treatment given. To find out the mean score, standard deviation and the t-test value between the pretest and the posttest the researchers used the SPSS 17 program. The researchers found that the use of translanguaging approach in learning Arabic reading comprehension improves the students’ ability of Arabic reading comprehension is better than the conventional method.

Abstract

The term rongo-rongo is a burden-bearing worker in the namlea market. As a carrier, the rongo-rongo load up each item that is thought by the customer and follows the conscription for shopping. Occupational risks and health hazard do not prevent them from continuing to keep busy to meet the economic family. This study is a qualitative study that describes the existence of the rongo-rongo in order to meet the needs of the home. The location of this study is in the village Karang jaya, market namlea, namlea terminal, with visibility for informant activity. Studies have shown that the existence of rongo-rongo is a major pilar of the household’s living resources, an effort to control household needs is done by focusing on physical strength without considering ill-health risks. In addition to making up for needed, the rongo-rongo does the activities outside of the main work o.g cleaning up stores of laundry and agricultural product.

Abstract

Speaking is one of the problems which is faced by anyone who learn English. In this research, the implementation of classroom management in this case seating arrangement aimed to find out to what extent seating arrangement improve students’ speaking skills at the second semester students of English Department of Letters Faculty at Iqra Buru University. The participants of this research were the English speaking lecturer and 30 students of Iqra Buru University. This research employed quasi experimental design, which consist of two groups namely control group and experimental group. Control group were treated by implementing orderly rows seating arrangement while for experimental were treated by implementing circle seating arrangement. The data were collected by using two kinds of research instruments namely test and recorder. The data were analyzed by statistical analysis SPSS program, version 20.0.The result shows that the implementation of seating arrangement can improve students’ speaking skill in term of accuracy, fluency and comprehensibility. It is supported by the mean score of the students’ posttests (74.48) was higher than pretests (56.07). on the other hand, there is also significant correlation among accuracy, fluency and comprehensibility.

Abstract

The goal of this study is to explore the EFL classroom management approaches and how students respond to classroom management by the male and female English teacher. The subjects of the research were two English teachers and 60 students. This research is based on qualitative research. The data analysis was carried out in three phases: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. This study finds four types of classroom management by male English teachers and female English teachers. The first is the seating arrangements, the second is the rules and procedures, the third is the discipline, and the final is the teachers' appearance. Meanwhile, questionnaires and interviews show that there is a positive response to classroom management that has been carried out by English teachers, both male and female.

Abstract

This study aimed at; 1) exploring the process of intercultural communication in a multiculturalism family in Namlea; 2) investigating the functions of intercultural communication in a multiculturalism family; 3) knowing the multiculturalism family developing their intercultural competence. This research applied the qualitative research using a case study design. The informant of the research consisted of a multiculturalism family in Jikubesar of Buru Regency, Maluku. The data collection technique employed the observation, interview, field notes, and documentation. The technique of data analysis was data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the adjusting and understanding others culture were the key of the success of the intercultural process in a multicultural family through some functions and strategies in developing the intercultural communication competence. The results of the study contributed to develop the communication model in the multicultural society such in the environment interaction. It also could be adapted as a strategy or model of teaching and learning a language in the multicultural classroom.Keywords: Intercultural communication, multicultural competence

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk 1) mengetahui nilai-nilai budaya lokal apa yang mendukung pengembangan pariwisata di Kabupaten Buru dan 2) mengidentifikasi implementasi nilai budaya lokal dalam mendukung pengembangan pariwisata di Kabupaten Buru. Jenis penelitian dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnologi. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian lapangan (field research) dengan teknik observasi partisiatif, interview (wawancara), dan studi dokumentasi. Tempat yang dipilih sebagai lokasi penelitian adalah di Desa Waimiting dan Desa Kayeli. Sumber data dari para responden, yakni pelaku budaya, tokoh masyarakat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Nilai-nilai budaya lokal apa yang mendukung pengembangan pariwisata di Kabupaten Buru, yakni dari sistem kepercayaan masyarakat, sistem kemayarakatan, sistem kekerabatan, sistem teknologi, sistem pengetahuan, sistem mata pencaharian, bahasa, serta kesenian, upadara adat, dan pantang larang. Dari beberapa unsur-unsur budaya tersebut lahir nilai atau norma tata laku yang berkearifan lokal dalam masyarakat seperti perilaku seni, perilaku spiritual, perilaku ekonomi, perilaku politik, serta perilaku lain dalam kehidupan dan benda-benda sebagai kesatuan material. Implementasi nilai budaya lokal dalam mendukung pengembangan pariwisata di Kabupaten Buru mencakup empat pilar, yakni Mengandung pilar Environmental Responsibility; Local Economy Vitality; Cultural Sensitivity; Experiaental Richness.

Abstract

Fakta komunikasi matematis di indonesia secara khusus di Maluku kabupaten Buru untuk peserta didik ditingkat sekolah menegah atas (SMA) masih tergolong rendah hal ini dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor diantaranya penerapan metode dan pengaplikasian alat bantu mengajar. Dan alat bantu dalam proses belajar mengajar menjadi tolak ukur keberhasilan pembelajaran di sekolah khususnya pembelajaran matematika. Pembelajaran dengan bantuan komputer sudah banyak dikembangkan oleh peneliti luar negeri maupun dalam negeri sebagai acuan untuk penggunaan aplikasi dalam menunjang pembelajaran metematika salah satunya adalah aplikasi GeoGebra. Geogebra adalah perangkat lunak yang dapat diterapkan pada komputer untuk digunakan sebagai alat pembelajaran disekolah. Pada aplikasi ini peserta didik dapat menggambar grafik dan menetukkan titik uji penyelesaian, serta dapat menguji fungsi optimum pada titik tersebut. Tujuan penelitian ini memanfaatkan aplikasi GeoGebra sebagai media dalam proses belajar mengajar di SMA 1 Buru. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian deskriptif dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Lokasi penelitian di sekolah SMA Negeri 1 Buru di desa Namlea. Instrumen yang dipakai pada penelitin ini yakni, hasil belajar siswa, dan respon siswa serta keterlaksanaan penggunaan media, untuk itu penggunaan instrumen yang tepat adalah tes angket atau kusioner serta lembar observasi. Hasil peneltian ditemukan bahwa penggunaan media pemebelajaran aplikasi GeoGebra yang diterapkan pada peserta didik dalam proses pembelajaran matematika sangat berbeda dengan penerapan yang tidak memakai aplikasi GeoGebra. hal ini dapat dilihat melalui hasil skor postes yang diperoleh sebesar 31,6% sedangkan untuk peningkatan kemampuan matematis antara skor pretest yakni sebesar 11,6%. Untuk itu dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan media pembelajaran dalam mata pelajaran matematika sangat efektif.

Abstract

Berbagai tindak kejahatan oleh para pemuda di Dusun Jiku Besar, Kampung Baru seperti pencurian, premanisme, berkelahi dengan teman, membolos sekolah, melihat atau menonton video dewasa, pemakaian obat-obatan terlarang., tawuran, penipuan, pencurian, serta alapan liar yang dilakukan per kelompok. Tujuan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah memberikan edukasi GEPDANA (Gerakan Anti Narkoba) kepada pemuda di Kampung Baru, Dusun Jiku Besar, Desa Namlea. Metode yang digunakan dalam PKM ini adalah observasi langsung dengan pendekatan sosialisasi Edukasi GEPDANA di Kampung Baru, Dusun Jiku Besar, Desa Namlea. Jumlah peserta adalah 25 orang yang dilaksanakan selama tiga hari di Kampung Baru, Dusun Jiku Besar, Desa Namlea. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dalam lima tahap, yakni tahap define the problem, tahap analizing causes, tahap develop the plan, tahap implementation dan controlin, dan tahap evaluation. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa 1) Tahap Define the Problems. Terlihat adanya tindakan pencurian, perkelahian antarkelompok remaja, minum-minuman keras, penyalahgunaan narkotika, dan melakukan judi antarpemuda. 2) Tahap Analizing Causes. Beberapa gangguan yang dialami oleh masyarakat akibat dampak dari kenakalan para pemuda di Kampung Baru adalah merusak ketenteraman masyarakat, mengganggu ketertiban, mempengaruhi orang lain ke arah yang negatif, dan lain-lain. 3) Tahap Develop the Plan, yakni pemberian materi seperti Pengetahuan Dasar Narkoba, Pengasahan skill, Penguatan Kerohanian, dan Penguatan Budaya Lokal Pulau Buru. 4) Tahap Implementation dan Controling, yakni diharapkan para pemuda dapat menjadi manusia yang humanis dan bermanfaat di tengah-tengah masyarakat Kampung Baru. 5) Tahap evaluation, yakni adanya pendampingan dan pengontrolan kepada mitra sasaran (para pemuda di Kampung Baru).
