Abstract

Water management and technology of protection insectiside could be changes availability heavy metal in soil and plant. The objective of this research was to study the effect of water source to spray vegetables and frequency sprayer insecticide on the growth and Pb contain in vegetable. The experimental design was factorial in randomized completely block design with three replications. The result showed the effect of water source to spray vegetables and frequency insecticide spray not significant on the growth vegetables, but significant on Pb contain in vegetables. The maximum Pb (7,97 ppm) in sludge from household and twice insecticide spray. Keywords: Water source, frequency insecticide, Heavy metal Pb, vegetable.

Abstract

Sources of CO2 from the soil include root respiration, decomposition of newly fallen aboveground litter and decomposition of old soil organic matter. Rhizosphere processes play a key role in soil respiration which is the main carbon efflux from peatland ecosystem to atmosphere. Plant rhizodeposits supply low-molecular weight carbon substrates to the soil microbial community, resulting in elevated levels of activity surrounding the root. We studied the effects of rhizosphere in oil palm plantation on the fluxes of CO2. Carbon dioxide emission flux of peatland was collected in Meulaboh, West Aceh using cylindrical chambers and analysis air samples of chamber by gas chromatograph. Five-point transects perpendicular to drainage canal provided variation in depth of water  table for the samples. The data confirmed that The CO2 flux from rhizosphere chamber with additional roots was one to four times higher than from bulk soil chamber.

Abstract

Using organic fertilizer as a soil conditioner can increase the C-organic content in the soil. Nutrient content of organic fertilizers include (1) Contains nutrients in types and quantities varying depending on the origin, (2) providing nutrients in a slow (slow release) and in limited quantities, and (3) has the main function to improve fertility and soil health. Organic fertilizers derived from manure are the best soil ameliorants compared to other aminators. Nutrients contained in organic fertilizers are generally low and very varied. As soil amendment material, organic fertilizer helps in preventing erosion and reducing soil cracks. Organic matter as soil enhancers can improve soil physical, chemical and biological properties.

Abstract

Soil amelioran contribute to improving paddy soil nutrient availability. It is important to achieve food self-sufficiency in Indonesia. The objectives of this study was to evaluate the effect of the application of soil amelioran on soil pH and nutrient status of , P, and K in paddy soil. The research was conducted in the laboratory STIPER Dharma Wacana  Metro from March to June 2012. The experiment was arranged in a completely randomized design with three replication . there are 48 experimental units that a combination treatment of rice straw (0,5, 10, 15 ton/ha), straw ash (equivalent to burning 0,5,10,15 ton/ha of rice straw, and source of Ca (without Ca, CaCO3, and steel slag). The result showed that  (1) there was a tendency in the soil pH to be higher with increasing dose amelioran and (2) there was indicate for increasing the availability of N, but not for the availability of P, and K.Keywords; Amelioran Rice Straw, Source Ca, Availability of Nutrient, Paddy Soil

Abstract

The usage development can be increased by applying right cultivating and processing  technology to grow sweet potato agroindustry that can help increasing economy value and lengthening storability. One of sweet potato potencies that can be developed in food diversification is sweet potato flour processing. The objective of this research is to study about the effect of fermentation time and various color of sweet potato to the quality of sweet potato flour. The research was done on April until June 2015 in Basic Laboratory of Agricultural College of Dharma Wacana, while the proximate test for the flour of fermented sweet potato was done in Agricultural Product Technology Laboratory of State Polytechnic Lampung. The research design used in this study was Complete Group Random Design (RAKL) arranged factorially by three repetitions. The first factor is fermentation time (t) that has 3 levels: 5 days (t1), 7 days (t2), and 9 days (t3). The second factor is the color of sweet potato (w) that has 3 levels: white (w1), yellow (w2), and purple (w3). The finding result shows that the effect of fermentation time and various color of sweet potato have real impact towards the flour yield, ash content, color, and  flour smell as well as nutrient content of sweet potato such as water, protein, fat, crude fiber, and carbohydrate. Generally, there is no interaction except for the flour color and ash content.

Abstract

The study was conducted in Central and East Lampung District with consideration for soil fertility in rice fields are planted with rice tends to go down, so that the harvest of dry grain production leveling off. The method used is a survey method, including primary data collection through interviews using questionnaires. Identification of using soil conditioner collected to reveal information about the type of soil conditioner that is known farmers and types soil conditioner once used by farmers. The aim of this study were: (1) an inventory of the type soil conditioner known and used by farmers, as well as the resources and applications dose; (2) determine the benefits and constraints use soil conditioner at the farm level, (3) to know fertilizer efficiency at the farmer level as the impact of soil conditioner utilizing, (4) to study soils conditioner prospect to increase land productivity. The results showed that the organic matter, soil conditioner types known and used in Central Lampung District is Zeolite Agro 2000, ZP.30 (enrichment zeolit with P nutrient) and dolomite, whereas in the East Lampung District is a regular zeolite and dolomite. The use of soil conditioner in both districts useful addition to increasing the production of rice crop about 10-30%, also improve soil fertility and increase the efficiency of nutrient uptake of inorganic fertilizers.

Abstract

Abstract

In the oyster mushroom cultivation, baglog only be used for one-time production of mushrooms. Therefore, the greater the effort mushroom In District of Metro East, the more waste was generated baglog, so the waste baglog need to recycled into a product that has a sale value before it becomes compost. Because the fungus baglog composition consisting of 80% sawdust, 10% rice bran, limestone 1.8%, 1.8% and 0.4% gypsum, then this waste can be used as Superkarbon. Initiation of business charcoal briquettes in District Metro East is an appropriate measure to overcome the impact of the environmental problems of the city. With carbonation method, milling, and clumping back will be obtained charcoal briquettes as a source of alternative energy. Keywords: organic waste, charcoal briquettes, alternative energy

Abstract

The Effects of Various Water Table Depths on CO2 Emission at Oil Palm Plantation on West Aceh Peat (EP  Handayani, M van Noordwijk, K Idris,  S Sabiham and S Djuniwati):  Changes in the depth of water table influenced carbon cycling in peatlands, and affected the sources and sinks of carbon dioxide.  The effects of depth of water tables in oil palm plantations on the emission of CO2 were studied. CO2 emissions of peatland were measured in Meulaboh, West Aceh using cylindrical chambers and  air samples from the chambers were analyzed by gas chromatography. Five-point transects perpendicular to drainage canals provided variation in the depth of water tables for the samples. Data from oil palm fields were compared to data from an adjacent swamp forest. The data confirmed that  the increasing depth of water table was accompanied by the increasing in microbial activity that was measured by CO2 emission.  The CO2 emissions from chambers with additional root zones were higher than from bulk soil chambers between one to four times.
