Abstract

Penulisan makalah ini bertujuan untuk membantu mengatasi permasalahan mahasiswadan meningkatkan kemampuannya dalam menciptakan sebuah karya tulis khususnyakarya tulis dalam bentuk kesusastraan Inggris, untuk itu mahasiswa perlu diberikanbekal pengetahuan yang cukup mengenai salah satu konsep dalam kesusastraan yaituMimesis yang mana ini bisa diterapkan dalam menciptakan atau menghasilkan karyakaryatulisan dalam kesusastran Inggris.

Abstract

Dalam pembelajaran keterampilan berbicara ( Speaking ), para mahasiswa sering menemukan beberapa masalah. Masalah yang sering ditemukan adalah bahwa bahasa asli mereka menyebabkan mereka sulit untuk menggunakan bahasa asing. Alasan lainnya adalah karena kurangnya motivasi untuk berlatih bahasa kedua dalam percakapan sehari- hari. Dengan latar belakang permasalahan ini peneliti melakukan pendekatan kepada mahasiswa dengan menggunakan salah satu metode aktif dalam pembelajran yaitu metode role-playing ( permainan peran ) dalam pelatihan Speaking di FKIP Bahasa Inggris UMN Al – Washliyah Medan khusus nya pada pembelajaran English Proficiency. Speaking adalah salah satu kemampuan yang harus kita kuasai dalam mempelajari Bahasa Inggris. Keterampilan berbicara adalah diukur dari kemampuan untuk melakukan percakapan dalam bahasa. Ini realitas membuat para pengajar khususnya Dosen dan orang tua berpikir bahwa kemampuan berbicara harus dikuasai oleh mahasiswa dan anak- anak mereka. Berdasarkan alasan di atas, peneliti terfokus pada mengajar bahasa Inggris dari pada mengajarkan tentang Inggris bahasa. Penekanannya bukan hanya pada kompetensi linguistik bahasa mahasiswa tetapi juga pada pengembangan kemampuan komunikatif mereka. Oleh karena itu peneliti melakukan metode tindakan kelas ( Classroom Action Research ) yang bertujuan untuk memperbaiki mutu dan peningkatan hasil pembelajaran. Objek dan lokasi pelaksanaan penelitian adalah mahasiswa UMN Al-Washliyah Semester VIIC dan VIID Tahun Ajaran 2018/2019 dengan jumlah 40 orang yang berlokasi di kampus C Jl. Garu II Medan. Agar mengembangkan kemampuan komunikatif mahasiswa, Dosen perlu menciptakan skenario untuk mengajar bahasa secara dinamis, aktif dan menarik. Menurut Stephen D.Hattings berdasarkan pengamatan percakapan di kelas, role playing akan tampaknya menjadi aktivitas yang ideal di mana mahasiswa dapat menggunakan bahasa Inggris mereka kreatif dan bertujuan untuk merangsang situasi percakapan di mana mahasiswa mungkin menemukan diri mereka sendiri dan memberi mereka kesempatan untuk berlatih dan mengembangkan mereka keterampilan komunikasi. Untuk alasan ini, peneliti tertarik untuk menganalisis penggunaan role-playing dalam upaya meningkatkan kemampuan speaking dalam pembelajaran English Proficiency. Peneliti berharap dengan dilakukan nya penelitian ini dapat memberi pengaruh yang signifikan bagi mahasiswa untuk peningkatan kemampuan speaking nya dan juga metode ini bisa menjadi salah satu referensi bagi dosen-dosen yang mengajarkan bahasa asing kepada peserta didiknya.

Abstract

Vocabulary is one of the essential language components in studying English. Without a propotional amount of vocabulary anyone will get trouble in speaking, reading, listening and writing. In other words, the first that to be master for language learner in learning language especially English is vocabulary. It means that learning vocabulary is very important, especially for students in junior high school. They must master English vocabulary and its grammatical rules to make communicate to another people. A good teaching technique makes students understand and master the lesson like the 2 other lessons which need a suitable technique and methods, teaching language also needs a suitable techniques and methods. In reality learning English especially to memorize vocabulary is boring for some students. One of the method will can improve the students mastery is use TPR (total physical response) in the class. That is way I want to conduct the research with title “Improving the Students’ Vocabulary Mastery Through TPR Method at SMP Negeri 29 Medan Tahun Ajaran 2020-2021’’. This research was conducted at SMP NEGERI 29 MEDAN to be exact in class VIII with a total of 12 students. by using the Classroom action research techniques to get student scores. The results of this study are sought to support the creativity of teachers in teaching and increase knowledge to students about the ease of memorizing vocabulary

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis yang disajikan melalui gambar animasi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah anak siwa kelas 5 Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al- Marwa Kecamatan Medan Denai Sumatera Utara. Yang siswanya berjumlah 20 siswa. Metode yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian tindakan kelas (Classroom Action Research) yang dilakukan dengan 2 siklus dengan perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi dan refleksi. Dan data diproleh dari hasil observasi, test dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terjadinya peningkatan kemampuan siswa kelas 5 Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al- Marwa ini dalam menulis yang dideskripsikan melalui gambar animasi. Melalui metode ini dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis dan juga meingkatnya kemampuan siswa dalam mengelaborasikan pengetahuannya dengan apa yang dilihatnya dan dituliskannya. Terjadinya peningkatan keterampilan siswa dalam menulis dapat dilihat dari hasil data yang telah dianalisis, dimana pre-siklus sebanyak 13 siswa atau 64% ketuntasan belajar yang diproleh. Dan pada siklus I terdapat 19 siswa yang berkisaran 96% mencapai ketuntasan dan pada siklus II mencapai 100% dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 20 siswa. Ketruntasan yang diproleh dalam peningkatan keterampilan menulis yang disajikan melalui gambar animasi.

Abstract

This research consist to determine the effectiveness of using picture series on students' writing skills in recount texts at SMA Dharma bakti Medan. The design of this research is experimental research. They consist of 150 students and the sample consists of 40 students then divided into two class; The experimental class of 20 students (X-IPA) was taught using serial pictures while the control class of 20 students (X-IPS) was taught without serial pictures. The research instrument used a written test, The test is to make a story text analyzing the general structure of the story text. the score of a text can be obtained from the general structure and grammatical arrangement of the text. After applying the test to the students, the writer analyzes the data using the t-test formula which is commonly used. after calculating and analyzing the data, it was concluded that the was higher than the (4.47> 1.70). it shows that there is a significant difference. The experimental pre-test score was 39 and the post-test score was 60.25, the difference was -21.25. The value of is greater than (4.47>1.70) df is 38, and the level of significance is 0.05. it is stated that the effectiveness of the use of picture series has a significant influence on students' ability to write story texts, Based on the test results above, it shows that picture series can improve students' writing skills in writing story texts. it can be concluded that this research hypothesis is accepted.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the condition of the regional language and culture in North Sumatra with the inclusion of foreign cultures which are now very easy to access. In addition, this research also aims to see the condition of the shift in regional languages among the people in North Sumatra. Furthermore, it will be seen about the role of the community in overcoming these problems. This research was conducted in the province of North Sumatra using a quantitative-qualitative descriptive method. And this data collection technique was carried out by means of observation, questionnaires, and also interviews which were equipped with documentation and also research instruments consisting of recording and recording. The results of the study will show the conditions of language shift that exist in the province of North Sumatra. The use of language starts from the family environment and also in educational settings such as schools and also in the community environment amid the onslaught of foreign cultures that entered North Sumatra. From this research it is hoped that it can be an option to overcome the influx of foreign cultures and also their influence on regional languages in North Sumatra.

Abstract

Language is a communication tool that has a function to create experiences in terms of sounds and symbols in constructing words. And in every region there are languages spoken by the community. Especially in the province of North Sumatra, Indonesia. This language has its own characteristics which of course are influenced by the culture and environment in the area as well as the local wisdom that surrounds it. This study aims to examine the metafunctions as well as the social context in regional languages in North Sumatra province. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with interview and observation techniques. The results of the research show that there is a metafunction in the regional language of North Sumatra which influences this side of the language. In addition, the social context has an important role in shaping the meaning and function of language. Social context includes cultural, social, and situational contexts. In the cultural context, the regional language of North Sumatra is used as a presentation of beliefs, values and ideology in society. In a social context, the regional language of North Sumatra is used to maintain the relationship between speaker and listener. In a situational context, the regional language of North Sumatra is used to convey messages or information effectively.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the communication strategies carried out by the government both at the central and regional levels and related agencies in order to preserve culture, traditions and also the local wisdom in North Sumatra. And this research is to look at the obstacles experienced in implementing communication strategies in order to preserve the unique Malay culture and also the regional culture in North Sumatra . The research subjects are related agencies and also the community who have a role in preserving culture in North Sumatra as well as traditional and cultural institutions and organizations that have this connection . Data collection techniques from this study used observation methods and in-depth interviews with informants or research respondents and used literature or documents that support the research. Data processing used is a qualitative descriptive approach. The results of the descriptive analysis of the research show that the communication strategy used is quite effective or is it just repetition as before both in conveying messages, using methods, and also the role of the media. Then the obstacles that occur and don't run as they should, so that programs in preservation can be hampered and also other things that can make the strategy not run smoothly . Preservation methods such as the Redundancy and Persuasive methods in the form of approaches and establishing cooperative relationships with related parties can facilitate the communication process.

Abstract

This research was conducted to produce a teaching chart on art and culture which contains local content as the implementation of K13 for all schools in North Sumatra. This research was also conducted to reveal the side of cultural validation as well as the practicalization and effectiveness of arts and cultural education curricula that have local content such as Malay and Batak culture. The arts and culture education curriculum is one of the concerns of local government agencies to create validation in the cultural sector. There are several achievements in terms of learning validation which are in the valid and also practical categories. This of course shows the ability of users' interest, especially school children, in the teaching and learning process in the art and cultural education category. This research was conducted to improve the skills and attitudes of students regarding learning in the arts and culture category and to improve their abilities in the local cultural sector.

Abstract

This research aims to describe and also explain the study of phonology in the Mandailing and Angkola languages of North Sumatra. A qualitative descriptive research method was used in research on the phonology of the Angkola and Mandailing languages. Scientific steps were carried out by collecting data by preparing a basic vocabulary from Morris Swadesh of 200 words. Then the observation step of the data obtained, the feasibility test of the data as well as the transcription and also the feasibility test became one of the steps carried out in the research. In data analysis, there are several steps such as data comparison, data analysis and also sound changes that occur from the presentation of the analysis results. The theoretical study that forms the basis of this research is a comparative historical linguistic study which forms the basis of Keraf (1996). From these data, several sound changes were obtained which had the form of metathesis, syncope, apocope, apheresis, prosthesis, and also paragog and epenthesis.
