Abstract

Narrow bandwidth is one of the problems in a microstrip antenna. Bandwidth enhancement is proposed by applying dual-layer in the substrate. The bottom layer is made from a single-layer circular microstrip antenna design by applying the formula to get an initial dimension and then it is simulated by an EM Simulator to verify its performance whether meet the specific requirement. The dimension of optimized design is used as a dimension for the top layer but without the ground plane. The antenna uses substrate FR4 which has thickness of 1.6 mm with dielectric constant of 4.3. The simulation result of the dual-layer antenna in frequency band 40 LTE shows that there is an additional bandwidth of 46% with return loss -23.45 dB, antenna gain 0.34 dB and directional radiation pattern. Keywords : Microstrip Antenna, Return Loss and Dual-layer

Abstract

Butler Matrix is one of switched beam network that used on a Smart Antenna system. Hybrid coupler plays an important role in the network. A proposed coupler is designed by applying the formula to get an initial dimension and then it is simulated by MWO to verify its performance whether meet the specific requirement. The optimized simulated design is fabricated and measured by network analyzer. The coupler uses a substrate which is relatively cheap and easy to find in a market. The substrate FR4 has thickness of 1.6 mm with dielectric constant of 4.3. The measurement result of the fabricated hybrid coupler in frequency 2.45 GHz, shows that reflection loss -18,27 dB , isolation loss -19,45 dB and phase coupling -94,4o. Abstract

The effect of dry and heavy water absorption on the electrical breakdown of low-density poly ethylene film was investigated. The temperature rise of the sample was observed by thermograph until the electrical breakdown using    direct current ramp voltage. The conduction current of low-density poly ethylene film was also measured, and the result was then correlated with thermograph measurement. Meanwhile, the space charge distribution in asample was measured by the pulse electro-acoustic method. From the thermograph, the result can be seen that under the heavy water absorption, the sample was more dissipated than the dry condition. Then, the breakdown occurs at the lower value of the voltage application, but the higher conduction current. Furthermore, the pulse electric acoustic show that increases the charge injection to the sample in the heavy water absorption. Increased space charges associated with an increase in the current conduction and the formation of heating, which results in a thermal breakdown.

Abstract

This paper presents the construction of a Rogowski Coil sensor with an air core to detect partial discharge using a digital oscilloscope. Two types of sensors are used. The first is the primary sensor winding with back wire, and the second is without back wire, labeled BW and WBW, respectively. The numbers of primary-turn in the sensors are 5, 10, 20, and 40 turns. The performance of the sensors is tested using two types of tests. First, the wave response test with a fixed imitation partial discharge magnitude input is used to select the optimum sensitivity with the lower sampling rate, aims to select the peak or valley value as a magnitude partial discharge value. The second test is using an imitation partial discharge ramp to check the linearity of the sensors. The imitation of the partial discharge inputs is generated by a commercial charge calibrator. The wave response test results show an increase in the number of turns that corresponds to an increase of the sensor output for both sensors in a non-linear trend. In determining the sampling rate, the detection of magnitude in the valley is better than the peak. All sensors act linear toward the imitation partial discharge ramp either in BW or WBW conditions.

Abstract

Low Power Wireless Area Network (LPWAN) is generally used in Internet of Things (IoT) technology for machine-to-machine communication. The advantage of this communication is the use of low power with a longer range compared to other communications. In the process of wireless data communication has certain characteristics in accordance with the terrain in which it passes. In this study, a low-power communication network was tested using Long Range (LoRa) technology operating at a frequency of 920-923 MHz. Based on the results of testing the communication system for LoRa technology in green areas, the results of Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR) and Quality of Service (QoS) are obtained. The average value of the PDR parameter is 92.43%. The average QoS value is 89.75% throughput in the "very good" category, 255.4 ms latency in the "good" category, and 8% packet loss in the "good" category. The QoS value obtained has a "Good" QoS category.

Abstract

Polymer insulators tend to fail because of the climatic and environmental conditions. The failure occurs when the surface of insulator is contaminated by sea salt or cement dust which lead to partial discharge (PD). Leakage currents will increase by PD that causes deterioration of insulation. To predict the insulation failures, an  adaptive neurofuzzy inference system (ANFIS) method using initial color detection processes are proposed to estimate the leakage currents based on the polymer insulator thermal images (infrared signature). In this study, the sodium chloride and kaolin are used as pollutants of the polymer insulator according to IEC 60507 standards. Then, the insulator is tested in the laboratory using AC high voltage applied at 18 kV where the temperature detection is controlled at 26° C and 70% RH (relative humidity). The percentage of colors (Red, Yellow, and Blue) from the thermal image is measured using the color detection method. Correspond to the color percentage, the ANFIS method predicts leakage currents from polymer insulators. Furthermore, this system interprets measured data from insulators that need to be categorized as Safe, Need Maintenance or Harmful. The final application of the system can be a non-contact tool to predict the polymer insulators used by technicians in the field.

Abstract

Tsunami radar is one of the detection tools used in the tsunami early warning system. The most commonly used is high-frequency radar with a long-range but high power and low resolution. However, in order to improve the reliability of the tsunami warning system in detecting signs of a tsunami and monitoring with a high speed of updating information, a radar system with a high resolution is needed. High resolution can only be obtained by a radar that has a large bandwidth in the radio spectrum. Increasing the bandwidth can be done by increasing radar operating frequency. An antenna is one of the essential components that can determine the performance of the radar system. Therefore, in this study, an antenna was designed at Super High Frequency to be applied to a radar system. The designed antenna is a microstrip antenna with a rectangular patch using array method. The desired specifications at a frequency of 5.8 GHz are return loss ≤-10 dB, VSWR ≤2, bandwidth >150 Mhz, beamwidth >200. After the simulated design met the specifications, the fabrication and measurements were later carried out. The measurement results show a frequency shift to 5,71 GHz with a return loss of -21,346, VSWR of 1,186, bandwidth of 200 MHz, a beamwidth of 40o and gain 11.65 dB. Thus, the proposed antenna, the 8-rectangular patch microstrip array antenna, can be applied in tsunami radar systems.

Abstract

Pemanfaatan teknologi informasi dan telekomunikasi (ICT) sebagai media promosi dan komunikasi di Indonesia sangat dibutuhkan. Kondisi ini memberi peluang kepada masyarakat untuk lebih memanfaatkan teknologi baik di gunakan pada instansi pemerintahan maupun swasta. Hal ini memberikan dampak yang signifikan terhadap kemajuan akan kreatifitas ICT untuk lebih dikembangkan. Pengunaan teknologi informasi dan telekomunikasi (ICT) terutama teknologi berbasis android dengan menggunakan internet merupakan cara yang inovatif dalam melaksanakan berbagai macam kreatifitas yang dapat dilakukan di berbagai sektor. Dengan memanfaatkan teknologi berbasis android, maka dapat dilakukan berbagai kegiatan secara elektronik seperti running text, media forum, email, mailing list dan berbagai aktifitas lainnya. Mushalla Alfaizin adalah tempat shalat berjamah yang dilakukan oleh sebagian kecil masyarakat yang terletak di RT 04 / RW 07 Aie Pacah Padang,  merupakan salah satu tempat ibadah umat muslim yang masih belum menggunakan teknologi berbasis android, sehingga proses mengupdate informasi belum dapat dilakukan dengan teknologi.  Agar Jamah Mushalla Alfaizin dapat juga merasakan perkembangan teknologi, maka tim pengabdian dari KBK telekomunikasi Jurusan Teknik Elektro Unand, memberikan pelatihan penggunaan teknologi berbasis android, berbentuk running text sebagai media update informasi kegiatan di Mushalla AlFaizin Aie Pacah. Running Text ini bertujuan untuk memudahkan jamah membaca perubahan setiap informasi, jika sewaktu waktu informasi ada yang terbaru.
