Abstract

This article discusses how to nd a solution of linear system of equations Ax = b, with A in the form of Z -matrix, using preconditioned Gauss-Seidel method. Pre-condition matrix used is the matrix proposed by J.H. Yun [Applied Mathematics Letters, 27: 207-215 (2012)]. Analytically it is shown that the spectral radius ofthe iteration matrix of the preconditioned Gauss-Seidel method is smaller than that of the standard Gauss-Seidel method. Furthermore, from the numerical experiment in solving a linear system of equation Ax = b, it is seen that the preconditionedGauss-Seidel method requires fewer iterations than standard Gauss-Seidel method.

Abstract

This paper discusses how to obtain a polynomial solution of linear Fredhlom integrodifferential equation with constant coefficients using a matrix method. The Linear Fredhlom integro-differential equation with constant coefficients and its initialboundary conditions are tranformed into a matrix, resulting a system of linear equations. Polynomial solutions of linear Fredhlom integro-differential is obtained by solving the system of linear equations.

Abstract

Research on syinthesis of activated carbon has been conducted from bamboo betung with carbonization temperature of 400°C, 500°C and 600°C with duration time of 20, 40 and 60 minutes, respectively. Physical activation was carried out at 900°C for 20, 40, and 60 minutes with H2O steam as an activating agent. Bamboo betung characteristics as activated carbon was studied by analyzing shrinkage mass levels, proximate test, activated carbon absorption of the iodine and yield. Increasing of mass shrinkage was proportional to carbonization time. the higher carbonization temperature, the smaller water content and the greater content of ash. The higher temperature time resulted the higher value of iodine, and the longer activation time could decreased the yield. The best results of activated carbon was obtained at a temperature of 600°C in 60 minutes with shrinkage levels of mass of 69%, 3.8% of moisture content, 8.1% of ash contents and 31.5% of yield. Whereas the iodin number was found to be 379 mg/g.

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to improve the learning process and improve the student’s mathematic achievement through the implementation of cooperative learning model of numbered heads together. The research is the Classroom Action Research with two cycles. The research was conducted in studentof grade X MA Muhammadiyah BerTI Pekanbaru in the even semester of the 2015/2016 academic year with the subject of as many as 22 students. The research instrument are consists of learning devices and instrument data collectors. Learning device are consists of the Syllabus, Lesson plan and Student work sheet. The instrument data collector consists of the observation sheet and math test. Technique of data analysis is analysis of narrative descriptive and analysis of statistical descriptive. The result of the research show that the learning process has improved and the student’s mathematic achievement has improved after applying the cooperative learning model of numbered heads together. The learning result in the first cycle found that the percentage of student who achieve KKM is 59,1 and the second cycle was 77,3%  which increased the percentage of prior actions that only 45,5%. Therefore, The cooperative learning model of numbered heads together can be used as an alternative in learning.                                                                                                                         Key Words: Numbered Heads Together, Cooperative Learning, students learning mathematic outcomes
