Abstract

Introduction: Elderly are individuals who are vulnerable and at risk of experiencing health problems related to nutritional status. Families who live together are expected to be able to provide nutritional intake in accordance with the condition of the elderly so that adequate knowledge is needed in preparing the need for balanced nutrition. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between knowledge, attitudes, and family support to elderly's nutritional status. Methods: The search for literature review articles was carried out in four databases (Scopus, Science Direct, Pub med, and Google Scholar) with a publication span of 2016-2020. The prism checklist was used to guide this review. Analysis and data tabulation were carried out in the article. Title, abstract, full text and methodology were assessed to determine study eligibility. Results: A total of 10 studies matched the inclusion criteria of the study, consisting of 6 cross-sectional studies and 4 qualitative studies. A review study found that good knowledge, positive attitude and good family support are directly proportional to the nutritional status of the elderly. Discussion: Family has a role in maintaining the health of the elderly, one of which is in fulfilling nutrition. Knowledge, attitudes and family support are related to the nutritional status of the elderly. Conclusions: Families who have knowledge related to nutrition can provide complete food intake and according to the needs of the elderly. A good family attitude will increase their support in helping fulfill nutrition.

Abstract

Introduction: The decline in cognitive function that occurs in the elderly with dementia will have an impact on decreasing daily physical and social activities in the elderly resulting in decreased quality of life for the elderly. One of the interventions that can be used to maintain cognitive function in the elderly is by using virtual reality. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explain the effect of virtual reality on cognitive function in elderly people with dementia based on empirical studies in the last five years. Method: the process of searching for journals or articles using a database indexed by Scopus, ProQuest, and Science Direct using adequate keywords. The framework used for the review was PICOS and the inclusion criteria used were English-language journals with issues from 2015 to 2020. Data analysis and tabulation were carried out in articles or journals. Title, abstract, full text, and methodology are assessed to determine the eligibility of the article or journal. Results: 758's articles were identified, ten articles fit the research criteria. Virtual reality affects cognitive function where it can improve memory, attention, executive function and can increase the overall scale of the MoCA. The advantage over the use of virtual reality for the elderly with dementia is that it not only improves cognitive but also improves motor coordination, reduces behavioral and psychological symptoms, and can be used to detect cognitive impairments early. Conclusion: In carrying out cognitive rehabilitation programs in the elderly can use technology-based interventions by using virtual reality.

Abstract

Hypertension is a health problem that many elderly suffer from. Blood pressure in the elderly with hypertension can be controlled in various ways, namely doing physical activity regularly, performing activities related to cognitive function, and controlling stress levels so as not to affect contractions or pulsations of the heart and nervous system that can cause blood pressure to increase. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of partner support with physical, mental, and social activities of the elderly with hypertension.This study used a correlational non-experimental design with a cross-sectional approach. The number of samples were 102 respondents in the Morokrembangan area, where the sampling used Nonprobability Sampling method, namely Purposive Sampling. The research instrument used partner support questionnaires, Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ), mental health practices, social activities and demographic characteristics. The analysis used Spearman Rho test.The results of this study were there was a relationship between partner support with physical activity (p = 0.000; r = 0.589 ), mental activity (p = 0.000; r = 0.778 ), and social activity (p = 0.000; r = 0.671) with positive and unidirectional correlation.As you get older, daily activities will decrease too. The better the support provided by the partner, the higher the level of daily activities carried out by the elderly. Therefore, elderly couples are expected to provide mutual support in carrying out physical, mental, and social activities.

Abstract

Introduction: Stroke is a disease that needs attention, especially for patients and their families. Not all families have the motivation to do a ROM for various reason. The aimed of this study was to examine the influence of health education to the family motivation to do ROM for the patients with infarction stroke in Seruni A Ward, Dr.Soetomo Hospital Surabaya.Methods: This study was used Pre Experimental Design. Population in this study were all family of the patients with infarction stroke in Seruni A Ward, Dr.Soetomo Hospital Surabaya. Purposive sampling technique was used in this study. There were 10 respondents as the sample who met to the inclusion criteria. The independent variable was helath education about Range Of Motion (ROM) and the dependent variable was the patient's family motivation to do ROM. Data were collected and analyzed using Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test.Results: The results showed that there was an effect of health education to family motivation to do ROM for the patients with infarction stroke in Seruni A Ward, Dr.Soetomo Hospital Surabaya (p=0.01).Conclusions: Health education about the ROM influence family motivation in carrying out physiotherapy. Nurses and other health professionals should provide health education in order to motivate families to increase and accelerate the healing process of patients. The results of this study can be further investigated by comparing the extension method, which one is more effective to motivate patients and it can associated with a cure rate of patients.

Abstract

Introduction: Caring for family members with cancer takes a long time. Various problems that arise during treatment will have an impact on the physical condition and psychological care giver so that this will have an impact on family adaptation. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that influence the adaptation ability of family caregivers who care for families with terminal condition cancer in the Oncology Poly RSUD Dr. Soetomo Surabaya. Methods: A cross-sectional study design. The population in this study are families who care for family members with terminal condition cancer in the Oncology Polyclinic Dr. Soetomo as many as 138 respondents were obtained by purposive sampling. The independent variables are attitude, trust, family support, coping mechanisms, and role functions while the dependent variable is the adaptability of family caregiver who care for families with terminal condition cancer. The research instrument used questionnaire attitudes, beliefs, family support, coping mechanisms, role functions and adaptability. Data analysis using Spearman Rho with significance level p ≤ 0.05. Results: Attitudes, family support, coping mechanisms, role functions are related to family caregiver's adaptability, while trust is not related to family caregiver's adaptability. Conclusion: Adaptability is needed for family caregivers in caring for families with terminal condition cancer. Future researchers are expected to intervene further to improve family support and adaptive coping mechanisms to help overcome problems that arise during the treatment of patients with cancer. Keywords: Attitude, Trust, Family Support, Coping Mechanisms, Role Function, Terminal Condition Cancer

Abstract

Introduction: Hemodialysis is a life-long treatment for end-stage renal disease (ESRD). ESRD has physical and psychosocial challenges to experience stress which not only affects but patients but also family members who care for them or also called family caregivers. Analyzing the relationship of social support and resilience to the level of stress in the family caregiver of hemodialysis patients at Haji Hospital Surabaya.Methods: A cross-sectional study with a population of family caregiver members of hemodialysis patients at RSU Haji Surabaya. The sample size was 92 respondents with criteria, namely families who treat hemodialysis patients at RSU Haji Surabaya, live in one house with patients, aged > 18 years, and can read and write. The variables of this study are social support, resilience, and stress levels. Data collection was performed using a questionnaire and analyzed using Spearman’s Rho test. Results : There was a significant negative relationship between social support and stress levels (p = 0.004 and r = -0.296) and resiliency with stress levels (p = 0.003 and r = -0.311).Discussion: The level of stress in a family caregiver hemodialysis patient can be influenced by the social support received and the level of resilience they have. The social support has an important role for family caregivers obtained from the family and significant other.

Abstract

Kelurahan Klampis Ngasem merupakan salah satu wilayah di Surabaya timur tepatnya di kecamatan Sukolilo kota Surabaya. Kelompok sasaran dalam program kemitraan masyarakat (PKM) ini adalah Posyandu Lansia “ Barokah” di RW 3. Permasalahan yang terjadi di Posyandu Lansia Barokah yakni berkurangnya aktivitas kegiatan di Posyandu lansia di tahun 2020 yang hanya sekali setiap bulan untuk pemeriksaan kesehatan, sehingga banyak waktu luang lansia yang belum dimanfaatkan secara produktif. Apalagi di masa pandemi Covid-19 ini kegiatan Posyandu lansia di tiadakan sehingga lansia hanya beraktivitas di rumah. Apabila waktu luang ini tidak dimanfaatkan untuk beraktivitas fisik, sosial, maka akan mempercepat terjadinya demensia, dampak lain juga menimbulkan depresi serta berbagai masalah penyakit pada lansia akan muncul. Dampak akhir dapat menurunkan kualitas hidup lansia. Solusi untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut adalah melalui penerapan aktivitas koqnitif sehingga lansia masih tetap mampu untuk sehat, mandiri, aktif dan produktif. Kegiatan yang dilaksanakan adalah melakukan kunjungan rumah/ home visit pada 25 lansia untuk memberikan edukasi, pemeriksaan kesehatan, lansia membaca, senam, dan fasilitasi hobi lansia. Dari proses kegiatan ini lansia merasa senang mendapat kunjungan, menerapkan protokol kesehatan pencegahan Covid-19,memiliki kegiatan di waktu luang, dan menghasilkan karya. Kegiatan kunjungan rumah/home visit dapat menjadi pilihan kegiatan posyandu lansia selama pandemi.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of low impact aerobics on blood pressure in patients with hypertension. The method used is a systematic review by browsing articles on the Scopus, ScienceDirect, EBSCO, ProQuest, PubMed and Google Scholar databases based on PRISMA guidelines. The results showed that the intervention of low impact aerobic exercise significantly affected the blood pressure of hypertensive patients. In conclusion, low impact aerobics can improve health-related quality of life and lower blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Keywords: Aerobics, Hypertension, Blood Pressure

Abstract

This study aims to assess the effectiveness of Video Directly Observed Therapy (VDOT) compared to Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) in improving medication adherence in TB patients. The method used is a systematic review using the CINAHL, PubMed, and Scopus databases. The results showed that 2 articles discussed routine treatment monitoring for face-to-face DOT at the patient's home or agreed with location during weekdays, and 8 articles discussed DOT by meeting with health department staff at TB clinics (clinic-based DOT. There were 5 articles using VOT intervention by sending videos (asynchronously) using a software application and 6 articles using VDOT conducting live video conferences while taking TB drugs. Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the behavior of using PPE and symptoms of ARI on road users on Dhoho road after the eruption of Mount Kelud in Kediri City. The method used is quantitative analysis with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique uses Accidental Sampling, with the sample being road users in Jalan Dhoho, Kediri City. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire and conservation sheets which were then analyzed using the chi-square test. The results showed that the p-value obtained was 0.005, meaning that there was a relationship between PPE usage behavior and ARI symptoms in road users on Dhoho road after the eruption of Mount Kelud in Kediri City. In conclusion, wearing a mask as PPE during the Kelud eruption can reduce the incidence of ARI symptoms because it prevents particles or dust from entering the respiratory tract.
