Abstract

Abstrak. Penggunaan pewarna indigo pada industri tekstil yang semakin besar menimbulkandampak negatif, yakni semakin besarnya pencemaran air. Hal ini karena akumulasi dari limbahpewarna indigo dalam konsentrasi besar dapat menghalangi sinar matahari menembus dasarperairan, sehingga mengakibatkan terganggunya kehidupan biota air. Salah satu bentuk teknologipengolahan limbah adalah menggunakan membran PVDF. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan variasikomposisi larutan cetak dan non pelarut yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh komposisilarutan cetak yang mengandung aditif PEG (PVDF/NMP/PEG) dan larutan non pelarut(H2O/CH3OH) terhadap karakteristik mekanik dan kinerja (fluks dan rejeksi) membran PVDF yangdihasilkan dari metode preparasi secara inversi fasa dengan teknik perendaman-pengendapan.Membran PVDF padat kemudian diuji kinerja dan kekuatan mekaniknya, serta uji morfologi padamembran terbaik. Hasil yang diperoleh pada penelitian ini yaitu membran pada komposisi 14/84/2(PVDF/NMP/PEG) dengan non pelarut 100% H2O memiliki nilai fluks paling besar yaitu 3330 Lm-2jam-1. Membran pada komposisi 16/84/0 (PVDF/NMP/PEG) dengan non pelarut 100% CH3OHmemiliki nilai rejeksi maksimum sebesar 94,66% dan memiliki nilai modulus young maksimumsebesar 2575 N/m2. Berdasarkan nilai rejeksi dan fluks membran, diperoleh membran PVDFdengan komposisi terbaik yaitu pada komposisi 14/84/2 (PVDF/NMP/PEG) dengan non pelarut50% H2O : 50% CH3OH. Pada komposisi tersebut nilai fluks, koefisien rejeksi, dan nilai modulusyoung berturut-turut adalah 1837 Lm-2jam-1, 93,59%, dan 983 N/m2.Kata Kunci: membran PVDF, PEG, kinerja, karakteristik mekanik, pewarna indigo.Abstract. The use of indigo dye a large amount in the textile industry have a negative impact, onincreasing of water pollution. The reason is the accumulation of indigo dye wastewater in largeconcentrations can block sunlight to penetrate the water base, so it causes aquatic life disruption.One form of wastewater treatment technology is using PVDF membrane. In this research, variationsin composition of casting solution and non-solvent aims to determine these effect which containingPEG additives (PVDF/NMP/PEG) and non-solvent solution (H2O/CH3OH) on the mechanical andperformance characteristics (flux and rejection) PVDF membrane is resulted by on phase inversionpreparation methods with immersion-precipitation technique. Then solid PVDF membrane is testedthe performance, mechanical strength, and the morphology test on the best membrane. The resultsobtained on this research are the membrane composition of 14/84/2 (PVDF/NMP/PEG) with a nonsolventof 100% H2O has the highest flux value is 3330 Lm-2hours-1. Moreover, membrane on thecomposition of 16/84/0 (PVDF/NMP/PEG) with a 100% non-solvent CH3OH has a maximumrejection value is 94.66% and has a maximum modulus young value is 2575 N/m2. Based on therejection value and flux membranes, PVDF membrane was obtained by the best composition is inthe composition of 14/84/2 (PVDF/NMP/PEG) with a non-solvent 50% H2O: 50% CH3OH. In thatcomposition of the flux value, rejection coefficient, and modulus young value respectively are 1837Lm-2hours-1, 93,59%, dan 983 N/m2.Keywords: PVDF membrane, PEG, performance, mechanical characteristics, indigo dye.
