Abstract

PT. Meteor Mighty located in the hamlet Lirang Singkawang Iron Mountain West Kalimantan is a company engaged in the production of bottled water (mineral water). The resulting product is the product brand “for3” with 3 types of packaging, namely packaging gallon 19 liter, 1500 ml bottles, 600 ml bottles, bottles of 330 ml and 240 ml glass. Based on preliminary observations, defective products are found on the packaging of bottled drinking water “for3” 240 ml. Conducted a visual inspection process before the product is organized into boxes, the process discovered some defects are defects criteria cup, lid defects, defect volume and product quality defects. In order to solve the problem, we used the Six Sigma DMAIC approach which is able to reduce defects and FMEA methods are expected to identify the cause of the problem and proposes improvements in quality improvement. Based on calculations by the method of Six Sigma that there has been an increase in both the value of DPMO and Sigma Level after repair, to a decline in the value of the variable data DPMO of 180,246 to 175,423 and an increase in the sigma level of 2.41 to 2.43. As for the decline in the value of the attribute data from 5983 to 2087 DPMO and sigma level increased from 4.01 to 4.36. While the analysis obtained using the FMEA RPN values decreased after the recommendation is applied, it can be seen from the value of RPN in the Control phase is smaller than the NDP in the Analyze phase, indicating the success of remedial actions that have been performed. Key words: Quality improvements, Six Sigma, FMEA
