Abstract

AbstractThe manufacturing industry in Indonesia is experiencing very rapid development. The development of the manufacturing industry is very closely related to the process of connecting metals through welding. Aluminum material and its alloys are one type of metal that is widely used in industry because it has several advantages in properties, including being lightweight and having good corrosion resistance. But the weakness of this material is that it is difficult to weld. Determination of welding parameters is very important in the welding process. Welding current strength is one of the welding process parameters that will affect the mechanical properties of welds. This study was conducted to determine the mechanical properties of aluminium 1050 welded joints using current strength parameters with variations in the current strength of 125 A, 150 A, and 175 A. The welding method applied in this study is GTAW with ER 4043 as its filler metal. Tensile strength testing and hardness testing have been carried out to determine the effect of strong current variations on the properties of tensile strength and hardness in weld joints. Based on tensile testing, the highest tensile strength was achieved at 125 A current with a value of 81.8 MPa. The Vickers micro test results show that the hardness value in the weld area is always greater than the hardness value in the HAZ region and the parent metal for each current strength. The highest hardness value in the weld area of 69 HV is obtained at the largest current strength of 175 A. Keywords : Aluminium 1050, GTAW welding process, Welding current strength, Hardness, Tensile strength test.
