<![CDATA[The aim of this study is to analyse kinds and magnitude of transaction cost in the supply chain of beef cattle commodity in West Timor; and to analyse the dominant factors of kinds of transaction costs on the choice of the farmers in choosing beef cattle sale location. This study was conducted on july to December 2015. The descriptive approach is used to calculate the kinds and magnitude of transaction cost in the supply chain of beef cattle. Meanwhile the analysis of the logit equation model is applied to analyse the dominant factors of the kinds of transaction cost on the choice of the farmers in choosing the beef cattle sale location. The study sample was 60 respondents farmers that was taken a simple random criteria that they are sell beef cattle for 1-2 years. The study found that the kinds and magnitude of the animals market retribution cost; the cost of procurement of fodder and consumption of farmers are the dominant factors determining farmers choice to sell beef cattle at the place of business/location maintenance through intermediate traders. ABSTRAK Penelitian bertujuan menganalisis macam dan besarnya biaya transaksi dalam sistem dan mekanisme rantai pasok komoditas ternak sapi potong di Timor Barat, serta menganalisis faktor yang dominan dari macam biaya transaksi terhadap pilihan peternak dalam memilih lokasi penjualan ternak sapi potong. Waktu penelitian Juli s/d Desember 2015. Pendekatan deskriptif digunakan untuk menghitung macam dan besarnya biaya transaksi dalam rantai pasok ternak sapi potong. Demikian juga model persamaan logit digunakan untuk menganalisis faktor yang dominan dari macam biaya transaksi terhadap pilihan peternak dalam memilih lokasi penjualan ternak sapi potong. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 60 responden peternak yang diambil secara acak sederhana dengan kriteria bahwa mereka selama 1-2 tahun terakhir pernah menjual ternak sapi. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa macam dan besarnya biaya retribusi pasar hewan, biaya pengadaan pakan ternak dan konsumsi peternak merupakan faktor dominan yang mendeterminasi peternak untuk memilih menjual ternak sapi potong di tempat usaha/lokasi pemeliharan melalui pedagang perantara.]]>
