Abstract

Abstrak: Kota Malang sebagai kota terbesar kedua Jawa Timur, memiliki sejarah panjang, sejak jaman prasejarah. Kota Malang memiliki banyak artefak peninggalan masa lampau yang masih dapat ditemukan, yang memperlihatkan bagaimana penggunaan gerabah sejak masa lampau. Industri gerabah di Kota Malang sendiri masih ada dan tersebar di beberapa desa. Namun sayangnya saat ini gerabah Malang kurang dikenal oleh masyarakat luas. Gerabah Malang masih kalah populer dengan Gerabah Kasongan (Jawa Tengah) dan Plered (Jawa Barat). Penelitian melalui metode observasi ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui seberapa banyak industri gerabah yang ada di Malang dan sejauh mana Industri gerabah tersebut memenuhi kebutuhan masyarakat dan bagaimana perannya bagi Kota Malang. Penelitian ini memperlihatkan sentra-sentra kerajinan Gerabah di Kota Malang dan produk yang dihasilkannya. Abstract: Malang City as the second largest city of East Java has a long history, since prehistoric times. Malang City has many artifacts from the past that can still be found. The facts shows how the pottery used in the past. The pottery industry in Malang City itself still exists and spread in several villages. But now, unfortunately, the Malang pottery is less known by the public. Malang Pottery is less popular than Kasongan Pottery (Central Java) and Plered Pottery (West Java). Research conducted through this observation was carried out to find out how many pottery industry is still existed in Malang and the extent to which the Pottery industry meets the needs of the community and how is its role in Malang. This research shows the pottery craft centers in Malang City and the products they produce.
