HUBUNGAN KECERDASAN EMOSIONAL DENGAN MEKANISME KOPING PADA MAHASISWA TINGKAT AKHIR PROFESI NERS UNIVERSITAS KLABAT

Abstract

Abstrak Kecerdasan emosional individu akan mempengaruhi mekanisme koping dalam memecahkan suatu masalah, terutama sebagai mahasiswa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kecerdasan emosional dengan mekanisme koping pada mahasiswa Profesi Ners tahun terakhir di Universitas Klabat. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif korelasi, dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Proses pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik total sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan angket kecerdasan emosional dan angket mekanisme koping yang diberikan kepada 96 mahasiswa akhir Profesi Ners di Universitas Klabat. Gambaran kecerdasan emosional siswa sebagian besar berada pada kategori rendah dengan 67 responden (69,8%). Terdapat 95 responden (99,0%) yang memiliki mekanisme koping adaptif, sedangkan 1 responden (1,0%) dengan mekanisme koping maladaptif. Uji Korelasi Pearson menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif antara kecerdasan emosional dengan mekanisme koping mahasiswa Profesi Ners Universitas Klabat dengan nilai p = 0,000 < 0,05, derajat hubungan Cukup (r = 0,541). Lembaga pendidikan harus menyediakan program untuk meningkatkan kecerdasan emosional mahasiswa mereka agar dapat membantu mengatasi stres di lapangan. Kata kunci: Kecerdasan emosional, mekanisme koping, Mahasiswa Profesi Ners Abstract Individual emotional intelligence will affect the coping mechanism in solving a problem, especially as a student. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and coping mechanisms in the final year of nursing profession students at the Universitas Klabat. The research method used was a descriptive correlation, with a cross-sectional study approach. The sampling process in this research was a total sampling technique. Data was collected using an emotional intelligence questionnaire with a coping mechanism questionnaire given to 96 students at the end of the nursing profession practicum at the Universitas Klabat. The description of the emotional intelligence of students is mostly in the low category with 67 respondents (69.8%). There are 95 respondents (99.0%) who have adaptive coping mechanisms, while 1 respondent (1.0%) with maladaptive coping mechanisms. Pearson Correlation test showed a positive relationship between emotional intelligence and the coping mechanism of the Nursing Profession student at the University of Klabat with p-value = 0.000 < 0.05, with a Moderate degree relationship (r = 0.541). Educational institutions should provide programmes to increase the emotional intelligence of their students to help them cope with stressors in the field.
