This study examined the comparison of social studies learning outcomes with Inquiry and Discovery Learning ( DL ) method regarding the motivation achievement in studying in VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Banjit. The method used was a quasi-experiment. The result of data analyzing showed: (1) there was a difference of students result study of social studies using Inquiry methods and DL methods, (2) there was a difference of students average result study for the students who had high and low motivation achievement, (3) students result study using DL were higher than Inquiry methods for the students who had high motivation achievement in learning, (4) students result study using DL were lower than Inquiry methods for the students who had low motivation achievement in learning, (5) there was an interaction between learning method and students motivation achievement to the students result study of social studies.Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang perbandingan hasil belajar IPS Terpadu dengan metode Inquiry dan Discovery Learning (DL) dengan memperhatikan motivasi berprestasi kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Banjit. Metode yang digunakan adalaheksperimen semu. Hasil analisis (1) ada perbedaan hasil belajar IPS Terpadu siswa yang pembelajarannya menggunakan metode Inquiry dan DL, (2) ada perbedaan rata-rata hasil belajar siswa yang mempunyai motivasi berprestasi tinggi dan rendah, (3) hasil belajar menggunakan metode DL lebih tinggi dari pada metode inquiry untuk siswa yang mempunyai motivasi berprestasi tinggi, (4) hasil belajar siswa menggunakan metode DL lebih rendah dari pada metode Inquiry untuk siswa yang mempunyai motivasi berprestasi rendah, (5) ada interaksi antara metode pembelajaran dengan motivasi berprestasi siswa terhadap hasil belajar IPS Terpadu.Kata kunci : discovery learning, hasil belajar, inquiry
