The issuance of Perpol 1 of 2022 concerning firearms stipulates the Licensing, Supervision and Control of POLRI Standard-issue Firearms, POLRI/TNI Non-Organic Firearms, and Security Equipment classified as Firearms. In Batam City, it is still found that sellers of 4.5 mm caliber air rifles/air pistols lack or even do not implement procedures or efforts to prevent air rifle/air pistol abuse, such as not asking candidates for documents/permits as a requirement for air rifle/air gun ownership buyer. This article will elaborate first how the laws and regulations play a role in preventing the misuse of 4.5 mm caliber air rifles/air pistols in Batam City; second, what is the role of the Indonesian National Police (POLRI) and the Indonesian Hunting and Shooting Association (PERBAKIN) in the field in controlling and supervising the sale, purchase and ownership of 4.5 mm caliber air rifles/air pistols in Batam City. The type of research used by the author is normative juridical. The conclusion is that Perpol 1 of 2022 concerning Senjata Api regulates Licensing, Supervision and Control of POLRI Standard Firearms, Non-Organic Firearms POLRI/TNI, and Security Equipment Classified as Firearms also regulates ownership of firearms for sporting purposes, namely air rifles/air pistols. 4.5 mm caliber and also regulates how to obtain of ownership permits. The role of POLRI and PERBAKIN in the field in controlling and supervising the sale, purchase and ownership of 4.5 mm caliber air rifles/air pistols in Batam City can be carried out with collaborative efforts in the form of preventive and repressive approach.
