<![CDATA[BACKGROUND: Hypertension is often referred to as the Silent Killer because it includes a deadly diseasewithout the prior symptoms as a warning to the victim. From Riskesdas (2007) showed the prevalence ofhypertension as much as 31.7%. One of three adults from Indonesia suffering hypertension, and one of the twomen even among those aged 50 years and above. The objective of research to determine the effect of nurseeducation in hypertensive patients on blood pressure of hypertensive patients.METHOD: Quasi Experimental with Nonequivalent approach (pretest and posttest) the Control Group Design.The samples were used 56 respondents of experimental group and 56 respondents of control group, by thecriteria of hypertensive patients who regularly visited in clinick, aged 60 to 69, male and have a history ofsmoking. Hypothesis testing is used Wilcoxon Match Pairs Test and Mann-Whitney test.RESULT: There was a significant difference between before and after nursing education to decrease bloodpressure in hypertensive patients(p-value = 0.000). The other results there is a significant difference thedecrease of blood pressure in hypertensive patients between pre-test and post-test in the control group (p-value= 0.000). There are differences systolic blood pressure between educated group (16.16) and the control group (11.18), but the difference was not significant (p-value = 0.12). There are differences diastolic blood pressure between educated group (8.27) and the control group (5.1), but the differences was not significant (p-value =0.20).CONCLUSION: Nurse education effect on decreased blood pressure  in elderly with hypertension in thePuskesmas Purwodadi Grobogan.Keywords : hypertension, nurse, education]]>
