Abstract

The problems faced by a nation are issues of science and akhlaq. In a nation, there are people who have the knowledge, but do not have good akhlaq. Conversely, there are people who have good akhlaq but do not have good knowledge. Two things that are often contradictory, in reality, are discussed in various parts of the world, east and west. Experts thinkers and practitioners continually discuss that always actual problems of science and akhlaq. The Indonesian people who have also experienced the eastern indigenous problems in science and akhlaq of the nation. What can contribute to a solution to the nations problems of the age to age? The author examines that Islamic education has contributed to the transformation of science and akhlaq of the nation in Indonesia. The method used to discuss science and akhlaq that is historically contemplative. The data source is the literature on Islamic science, Islamic akhlaq, the results of research in various scientific journals, and informants in the field of various minority Muslim region of Bali, Palu, Merauke, and Mamasa Sulawesi and the majority Muslim regions such as Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Malang, Makassar, and Riau. Data were analyzed following the deductive and inductive reasoning simultaneously. Conclusion the results showed that Islamic education in Indonesia has contributed significant in the transformation of science and akhlaq of the nation. The learning process of science and akhlaq in Islamic educational institutions shall be implemented in the curriculum. In the region there are a minority Muslim Islamic educational institutions that play a role in the teaching of science and foster public akhlaq through study groups Islamic values. In the region there is a majority Muslim dominant Islamic educational institutions that change of IAIN to UIN so very clear direction of development of science while instilling akhlaq of the nation. Indonesian nation into a nation become intelligent and noble character is due to the existence of Islamic educational institutions developed in Indonesia.Kata kunci: Islamic education; contribution; science; akhlaq; Indonesia
