Abstract

Abstract               The research was conducted in July until August 2017 in Koto Tinggi Village, Koto Besar District, Dharmasraya Regency, West Sumatera Province. This Research, setting the working hours of aquaculture business, find out the contribution of the aquaculture business, and the scale of the aquaculture business. The method used in this study is survey method, which is the determinatif of respondents that is  oil palm farmers who have aquaculture business using the census method.               The results showed that the type  of farming aquaculture business owned by farmers in the pool of calm water using a net with the type of fish aquaculture of Nila fish and using pond cement with the type of Catfish. The farmers use labor for the aquaculture business, when the farmers do business activities of palm plantations, with outpouring  hours for monitoring ponds  are 4 until 5 hours/day  and feeding the  fish is 6 until 7 hours/day. The contribution of aquaculture business of farmers in Koto Tinggi village is 27%. Based on the Regulation of the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries on the category of scale of aquaculture business, the scale of the aquaculture business of all farmers in Koto Tinggi village is a category of scale micro business. The efforts the government do in the development of aquaculture business are to drop directly through extension workers to motivate farmers in order to develop aquaculture business. Keywords :Working hours, contribution, scale of business
