Abstract

This thesis covers an analysis of movie. Moral value is one of the main aspects that emerges in the movie. The moral value in the movie makes an example in human’s life in reality. The importance of moral values in our lives is how to learn the life’s experience and the life will go on. Each person must have moral values respectively and should not give up if he or she gets a variety of obstacles and barriers in life. Everybody must still strive in a positive way in order to pursue their dreams and can become a reality and help each other in achieving dreams. The writer analyzed this movie in moral values by using qualitative research. This thesis describes about moral values which are found in this movie and about the effort of main characters to reach dream. Based on the analysis, the writer hopes everyone should still try to reach the dream. To elaborate the findings, the writer describes formative analysis by capturing the dialogue using detailed data. Other findings related to the study are stated

Abstract

The aims of this study are to find out how the individual‘s own language competences affect career mobility and to find out how the common language acts as a facilitator for career mobility. The qualitative research method is used in this study. Interviews with personnel from the case organization, provide the opportunity to observe the views and experiences of the interviewees and to find out how they fit in to the prior research done on this subject. The empirical research on the common corporate language strategy as facilitator or barrier for career mobility implicated that the choice of English as common corporate language was generally seen as a facilitator for career mobility and as the facilitators‘ positive effect on career mobility also influenced the employee‘s subjective as well the objective measures of career success

Abstract

In coca cola ads America the beautiful, the writers analyze moral values on video Coca Cola. The writer used three video Coca-Cola ads America the beautiful, and some related books as the resource the data. The writer watched the video and then analyzed the data. From the analysis the writer conclude that some moral values are freedom, individualism, Achievement, tolerance, and the future. Coca cola indicates that America is so diverse nations, cultures, languages, and ethnics. It’s beautiful thing and Coca cola make this video to celebrate diverse culture in America. America is the place to learn how to mutual respect with others. And America is country that innovates because America is unique and capable changes in the surrounding environment and brings the profit and success

Abstract

This study is aimed to find out the effect of Cooperative learning techniques and personality types on English essay writing skill. This study was conducted at STIBA – IEC Jakarta for the fourth semester in the academic year 2016/2017. It was an experimental study with the factorial design 2 x 2 at 0.05 significance level. The sample was 32 students and divided into two groups which each group was 16 students. The research reveals that: (1) students’ English essay writing skill taught with Think-Pair-Share (TPS) technique was  higher than with Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) technique; (2) English essay writing skill on introvert personality type was higher than extrovert personality types; (3) there was interaction effect between learning techniques and personality type toward English essay writing skill; and (4) students with introvert type taught with TPS technique was higher than those taught with STAD technique. There is an interaction effect between learning techniques and personality types on English essay writing skills. Abstract

This study discusses the depiction of Princess Merida. The objectives of the research are to find out what kind of characteristics that represent Princess Merida and to find out how the characteristics that Princess Merida has made her special from other Disney Princesses. Qualitative method is used in this research. Data collection in analyzing movie Brave is used by watching the movie repeatedly, reading the summary, making synopsis, taking some notes, understanding the script, identifying the words or dialogues, reading some journals or articles and finding some references on the internet related to the analysis. The research questions are focused on analyzing the characteristics of Princess Merida. The research questions are to find: (1) the kind of characteristics that represent Princess Merida and (2) the characteristics that Princess Merida has makes her special from other Disney Princesses. From those research questions, the writer found that this research exposes how Brave movie represented princess seen from Princess Merida’s characters, habits, and appearance by showing the evidence through pictures and dialogues in the movie

Abstract

This study is under psychology umbrella. The aim of this study is to analyze Dissociative Identity Disorder experience by Kevin, the main character in the movie Split. This study has two objectives: (1) to find out what are the symptoms or signs of DID on Kevin in the movie Split; (2)to find out how does Dissociative Identity Disorder effect the main character’s life. This study employed a qualitative method since it describing the phenomena of DID. Moreover, the findings were presented in narrative or textual description. Some steps in analyzing the data were : watch the movie, taking notes, sorting the data, classifying the data, coding the data, interpretation, and the last drawing conclusion. This study reveals two findings, first, all of four classification symptoms in Kevin. Second, three effects of this disorder has coming up to main charcater live (Kevin) were : depersonalization or derealization, amnesia, identity confusion or identity alteration.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out the most and the least of typical errors on the first semester students’ writing skill. Writing gives an important role to students in practicing their ability to express their ideas to readers. The students sometimes commit errors when they write and those errors can effect to the content of their writing, as the result, the readers will be confused or do not understand to the students’ writing. This research using content analysis method. The writer interprets the data based on the errors on the students’ writing. This research found that error analyzes of students’ writing on word form is in the first rank (14,6%) followed by word choice (11,5%), Article and add a word (9,5%), Omit a word, singular-plural, verb tense, and capitalization (8,3%), Word order and Incomplete sentence (6,2%) and the least error is on Meaning not clear, that is (0%). This research has the implication that the lecturers should treat errors made by students as a part of learning process and it should be solved through remedial activity.

Abstract

The purposes of this study are to know the kinds of figurative language and the general meaning used in selected lyrics of Justin Timberlake song. This research is designed to identify some figurative language by understanding the general meaning when they are used in the song lyric. The technique of descriptive analysis is used to analyze data of the figurative language used in the lyric of the ‘Mirror’. Based on research findings, the writers found some figurative languages in the Justin Timberlake’s selected song. It can be found that most of figurative languages which are used in lyrics of Justin Timberlake’s selected songs are “symbol, metaphor, personification and simile” that have a great exaggeration used to emphasize a point, used for expression or comic effect.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to describe Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder be shown of the main character and to mention the types of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder that the main character suffers. In this movie, it shows about Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Of The Main Character. The movie cuts out a few important people in Cheryl’s real life. In the movie, Cheryl has only one sibling, her younger brother Leif. Cheryl and her father grew particularly close during her mother’s sickness, but after she passed, Eddie remarried and grew distant. Much of Cheryl’s internal monologue during her therapy sessions is made into dialogue with her therapist in the movie. In this movie also explains how to eliminate trauma, by climbing many obstacles by oneself, through many obstacles, so Cheryl feels very grateful for the present life and he realizes that what he does in front must he face, she can not escape from the problem is, because it is history and the future is a mystery that must be dealt with better.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are (1) to train participants in good and correct English communication both grammatically and in correctly choosing the right words and (2) to train fluency in English communication to understand the skills in each component which consists of listening exercises, the use of proper and correct language structures in writing, reading comprehension, and speaking proficiency. The method used is a communicative approach method that trains students to understand the skills in each training component which consists of speaking, writing, reading and listening skills. The results of this activity showed that the training participants experienced positive changes in terms of fluency, understanding, use of language structures and vocabulary.
