Abstract

Communication ability becomes main parameter of the successfulness of English language learners in learning English. However, communication ability can not be acquired instantly, English learners need more practices and also strategies in communication. In addition communication ability also influenced by some factors such as target language proficiency, learning and communicating contexts, task types, gender differences and learners’ personality. Driven by this condition, this paper is aimed to discuss theoretical framework about communication strategies and its development since firstly proposed by Tarone (1977). This paper is beneficial for English language practitioner and English language learners, ELT researcher as well.

Abstract

Based on the results of the preliminary study, Mathematical habits of mind (MHoM) mathematics students are generally still weak.Therefor, efforts are needed to overcome them. One way is to choose and apply the appropriate learning model. This study aims to determine whether the Bamboo Dance learning model and Early Mathematical Ability of Students can significantly influence the mathematics MHoM of students. This research is using the experimental method. Involving VII grade students of junior high school, with experimental classes and control classes as many as 36 student samples. The experimental class was given learning by applying the Bamboo Dance learning model, while the control class with conventional learning. The results of the study showed that the MHoM mathematics of experimental class students as a whole was better than the control class with a significance level of 0.023. Likewise, for groups of students with high and moderate initial abilities in the experimental class it is better than the group of students with high and moderate initial abilities in the control class, with a significance level of 0.011 and 0.025 respectively. Whereas for the group of students with low initial abilities there was no significant effect of the Bamboo Dance learning model on the ability of the MHoM students with a significance level of 0.775.

Abstract

Conceptually the problem of education for children with special needs and special services in the setting of inclusive education is the actual problem that is needed now. Many developmental disorders that begin in infancy and can continue into adulthood. Disorders of children who can not concentrate is a multifactoral status disorder. Inclusive education is expected to solve one problem in handling the education of children with disabilities, especially children with impaired concentration and hyperactivity, or often known as ADHD. This study aims to determine and measure empirical data about differences in the ability of focus concentration of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) children who are treated with the Back in control method and the Lovaas method, by paying attention to the intelligence of students in grades 1 and 2 at Bojongrenget State Elementary School II Tangerang (Inclusive school). The basic problem in this study, is the concentration of ADHD children, therefore this study uses the method of intervention modification of Back in Control and Lovaas method with 2x2 factorial design experiments. Conclusion of Hypothesis testing, there is also a very significant interaction effect between the method of intervention Back in Control, Lovaas and intelligence on the ability to focus concentration on children with ADHD, so that a simple effect occurs, a further test (tukey test) occurs. T test results can be concluded, ADHD children with high intelligence have better concentration ability when given treatment with the Back in Control method, than Lovaas method treatment. ADHD children with low intelligence have better concentration ability using Lovaas method treatment, than Back in Control method. Thus there is a significant difference between the ability of concentration with the treatment of the Back in Control method and the Lovaas method.

Abstract

Increasing end-user satisfaction (EUS) on mobile-based AIS is influenced by an actual usage (AU). AU increases if Small Medium Enterprise managers feel the perceived ease of use (PEOU) and perceived usefulness (PU) of using mobile-based AIS. This study aims to (1) analyze the effect of PEOU and PU on AU, (2) analyze the effect of PEOU and PU on EUS on mobile-based AIS, (3) analyze the effect of AU on EUS on mobile-based AIS, and (4) analyze the effect of PEOU and PU to EUS on mobile-based AIS through AU. The results of this study are (1) PU has a positive effect on AU and PEOU has a negative effect on AU because to improve AU requires a guidebook that is easy to learn and the lack of ability to use system applications make it not easy, (2) PEOU and PU affect EUS on Mobile-based AIS but the most positive and dominant influence on EUS on mobile-based AIS is PU, (3) AU has a positive effect on EUS on mobile-based AIS, and (4) PEOU negatively affects EUS on mobile-based AIS through AU due to the use of AIS based on mobile, which is done repeatedly and for a long time is still unable to mediate PEOU and SME managers feel difficult to use the purchasing and sales system application to produce on time reports.

Abstract

The study aims to determine the innovative learning influence based on Project Based Learning (PBL) towards the English learning outcomes of Brawijaya University Malang students. The research method using quasi-experimental design with the Times-Series Design with Control Group. The data analysis by using one way ANOVA test. The results showed that the TOEFL test treatment, namely the pre-test and post-test in the control class and the experimental class in the PBL model had differences. The average pre-test TOEFL score in the experimental class was 344.71 with score range from 300-397 and standard deviation of 29.386. The average post-test TOEFL score in the experimental class was 360.83 with score range from 303-400 and standard deviation of 24.146. Learning Based on PBL can improve student learning outcomes, the p-score at PBL was 0.026.

Using the Research and Development method developed by Borg and Gall which includes preliminary studies, planning research, design development, product testing, revised limited field test results, extensive product testing, revised field test results more broadly, the due diligence, the final revision of the feasibility test results, dissemination and implementation of the final product. Data was collected from the assessment of two experts7through the Expert validation sheet and 60 student respondents through the student respondent questionnaire. Data analysis uses qualitative and quantitative approach techniques. Data in the form of suggestions and criticisms from experts/experts and students are analyzed with a qualitative approach, while module feasibility data and opinions regarding module suitability are processed with a quantitative descriptive approach.
