Abstract

Problems with the negative behaviours of special needs students cause special education teachers to experience stress in the classroom. The purpose of this study was to explore the perceptions of special education teachers on the use of ClassDojo application to reduce negative behaviours among students with special needs in learning. This study is based on the Behaviourist theory whereby the relationship between stimulus and response influences the individual learning process. This is a qualitative study that used structured interviews to obtain data from respondents. Interview questions were adapted and modified from Burger's (2015) study. This research question was reviewed and validated by 2 expert lecturers and 2 expert teachers. A total of 2 teachers, and 5 special needs children in Kluang district, Johor were selected as the study sample by means of sampling technique. The findings show that there is a significant change in learning behaviour during the ClassDojo application. The special education teachers feel that the ClassDojo application is very helpful in controlling the classroom while reducing the negative behaviours of the pupils during teaching and learning. Special education teachers also feel that the ClassDojo application creates collaboration and  a positive relationships between teachers and parents to address learning behaviour issues. This study is a reference to future researchers in exploring other gamification applications for learning with special needs children.

Abstract

Students with hearing impairment (deaf) who have obstacles in processing mathematical concepts can experience this anxiety and fear, which causes them to dislike mathematics. The purpose of this research is to develop a game media of mathematics on geometry materials for tenth grade students with hearing impairment in high school special education. This research refers to the steps developed by Borg and Gall 1989 modified into 9 steps. The main field test subjects were 2 people with hearing impairment. The subjects of the operational field test were 12 people with hearing impairment. The results showed that multimedia according to content experts was very valid with a percentage of 87,5%. According to the media expert it was valid with a percentage of 76,67%, and the results of the SMALB teacher validation of 90,91% means very valid. The main field test is very valid with a percentage of 88,33%. The operational field test is very valid with a percentage of 85,83%. It was proven that 66,67% of the trial assessors considered the developed media to be very valid to use and the remaining 33.33% assessed that the developed media was valid to use

Abstract

Deaf is someone who has a hearing loss, which causes hearing impairment to experience limitations in language, communication, and capturing information. With all the limitations experienced and the potential it has, the deaf child needs to be equipped with life skills and one of them is the skill of making batik. Research Objectives to: 1) describe the process of planning a batik skills training program; 2) describe the strategy of implementing batik skills coaching, and 3) describe the evaluation methods for developing batik skills of deaf students in Blitar City. This study uses a qualitative approach to the type of case study research. The study was conducted at SLB in Blitar City. Data was collected through interviews and observations, and analyzed using content analysis. The results of this study indicate that: The process of planning a batik skills training program is held in a meeting that discusses the identification of field needs and formulating learning objectives which are then compiled in a lesson plan that is aligned with K13; The strategy of developing batik skills in collaboration with batik artisans in Pakunden, the Wali Murid Circle of Friends, and the implementation of classes; The results of the work of developing batik skills are evaluated through the provision of appreciation in the form of participation in bazaars, exhibitions, competitions and also used as a uniform as a school identity.
