Abstract

Listening Difficulties and Listening Strategies Perceived by EFL Learners. This study aimed at revealing listening difficulties and listening strategies perceived by Indonesian learners in English as a Foreign Language listening class. The data were collected from 6 EFL students who have studied at the English Department program in one of University in Indonesia. This research is qualitative research which used questionnaires, observation and a semi-structured interview with think-aloud protocol to gain the data. This research used a Second Language Listening Difficulties Questionnaire proposed by Anna Ching-Shyang Chang (2013) to complete the required data. The finding of the research showed that EFL Indonesian learners face difficulties related to internal and external factors. Moreover, in tackling the difficulties, the students apply listening strategies. Those listening strategies are including both cognitive and metacognitive.

Abstract

ICT encourages students to improve their literacy and numeracy skills and to recognise their existing abilities. In this critical moment of Technological breakthrough, the reputation of education to mankind cannot be overstressed. The flipped classroom is a pedagogical model in which the typical lecture and homework elements of a course are reversed. The roles of students have a corresponding change from passive participants to positive participation. This study investigated the attitude of undergraduate students towards the use of flipped classroom for learning in South west, Nigeria and also examined the influence of gender and school ownership on their attitude towards the use of flipped classroom. A cross-sectional survey type was adopted in this study. A researcher designed questionnaire was used to collect information. One thousand, eight hundred undergraduate students were randomly selected across twelve universities in South West region of Nigeria. Frequency, mean and percentage was used to analyze the responses to the research questions. Hypothesis 1 was tested using t-test while hypothesis 2 was tested using Analysis of variance (ANOVA) at 0.05 level of significance. The findings established that undergraduate students have positive attitude towards the use of flipped classroom for learning. It was then recommended that stakeholders in education should procure necessary equipment for flipped classroom

Abstract

Abstract Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan perangkat materi pembelajaran untuk pengajaran sosiologi guna memotivasi siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian dan pengembangan guna menformulasi produk dan mengukur efektifitasnya melalui validasi dan pengujian ahli di bidangnya. Ada tiga tipe test yang digunakan yaitu, one to one, small group, dan field test yang menunjukkan bahwa desain materi tersebut efektif. Setelah melalui revisi, desain meteri pembelajaran Sosiologi dianggap bermanfaat dan dapat digunakan dalam proses belajar mengajar Kata Kunci: Perangkat pembelajaran, mata pelajaran Sosiologi, siswa Madrasah Aliyah Abstract [Tittle: The Development of Sosiology Instructional Material for The Students fo Islamic Senior High School] . The research aims at developing a set of instructional material for teaching Sociology in order to motivate the students. The researcher employed a research and developing method to formulate a product and to measure its effectiveness through validation and trial-out by the experts of content-material and material-design. There were three types of trial to test the design; one to one, small group, and field test. Based on the test result, it was found that students in average can achieve 84% of overall score which indicate that the designed material is effective. After being revised several times in each stage, the design of instructional material for Sociology subject is considered as beneficial and able to be used in the teaching learning process

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan program pengembangan kompetensi pedagogik guru di SMK Islamiyah Ciputat. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif, yaitu untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan mengenai program pengembangan kompetensi pedagogik di SMK Islamiyah Ciputat. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan meliputi wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi. Pihak yang di wawancara adalah kepala sekolah sebagai subjek penelitian, wakil kepala bidang kurikulum, dan 5 orang guru sebagai sumber data. Observasi yang dilakukan saat aktivitas Kegiatan Belajar Mengajar (KBM) di kelas. Studi dokumentasi dilakukan dengan pengambilan gambar secara langsung dan meminta arsip atau berkas-berkas kepada dewan guru yang di wawancarai terkait dengan kegiatan pengembangan kompetensi pedagogik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa program pengembangan kompetensi pedagogik di SMK Islamiyah Ciputat cukup baik. Hal ini terlihat ada beberapa strategi yang dilakukan kepala sekolah dalam mengembangkan kompetensi pedagogik guru diantaranya mengadakan pelatihan, seminar, dan workshop, mengadakan diskusi intern, dan kepala sekolah juga selalu mengikutsertakan guru-guru pada kegiatan pelatihan atau kegiatan pengembangan yang diadakan oleh lembaga lain. Akan tetapi hal ini dilaksanakan hanya sesuai kebutuhan saat itu, dan kegiatan pengembangan kompetensi pedagogik tersebut tidak terjadwalkan secara rutin dan tidak tertulis. Kata kunci: Pengembangan guru, kompetensi pedagogik, sekolah kejuruan Abstract [The Development of Teacher Pedagogical Competence of Islamic Vocational High School]. This study aims to determine and describe the pedagogic teacher competence development program at Vocational High School Islamiyah Ciputat. The research method used is a qualitative approach that is to know and describe pedagogic competence development program at Vocational High School Islamiyah Ciputat. Data collectiontechniques include interviews, observation, and documentation studies. The parties in the interview are principals as research subjects, vice head of curriculum, and 5 teachers as data sources. Observations made during the activities of Teaching and Learning Activities (KBM) in the classroom. Documentation study is done by taking pictures directly and requesting archives or files to the interviewed teacher council related to pedagogic competence development activities. The results showed that pedagogic competence development program at Vocational High School Islamiyah Ciputat was quite good. It is seen that there are several strategies that principals do in developing teacher pedagogic competence such as arranging training, seminars, and workshops, holding internal discussions, and the principal also involves teachers in training activities or development activities organized by other institutions. However, this is done only according to the needs of the time, and the pedagogic competence development activities are not scheduled on a regular or unwritten basis. Abstract

ABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan perbedaan tipologi belajar mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) per-individu. Kajian “Tipologi Belajar Pria” ini mengacu pada konsep David Kolb yang dikenal dengan “Lingkaran Gaya Belajar” (Learning Style Circles). Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester V (lima ) yang ditentukan secara purposive. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket disertai probing lewat interview mendalam (depth interview). Analisis kuantitatif deskriptif ditampilkan melalui frekuensi dan prosentase dalam tabel tunggal (single table) dan tabel silang (cross table), sedang analisis kualitatif dilakukan melalui perbandingan (comparative) atas data kuantitatif baik individu maupun kelompok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kecenderungan gaya belajar lebih mengarah pada gaya Diverger (27 orang, 39,71%), suatu tipe belajar yang cocok berkarir di bidang seni (art), hiburan (entertainment) dan pelayanan (service) lewat keunggulan imajinasi dan sensitivitas perasaannya; disusul gaya belajar Assimilator (24 orang, 35,29%) dengan kekuatan logika teoritik tepat berkarir di bidang kreativitas keilmuan dan sains. Dua quandrant lainnya yaitu Accommodator (12 orang, 17,65%) dengan orientasi tindakan untuk bidang pemasaran (marketing) serta penjualan (sales), dan Converger (5 orang, 07,35%) yang memiliki peluang ke arah “spesialis” di bidang teknologi melalui aplikasi ide dan konsep keilmuan; secara deskriptif kategorik kurang muncul, baik secara individual, per-kelas, maupun keseluruhan subjek mahasiswa pria yang diteliti. Kata kunci : tipologi belajar, siswa, pria Abstrak [Male Students’ Learning Styles ; A Case Study Of The Students Of Islamic Education Study Program]. The purpose of this research is to describe different learning styles of Islamic Education Program students. The study of learning styles refered to the study of David Kolb namely Learning Style Circles. The subject was semester five students who were selected purposively. Questionnaire and in-depth interview were employed to gather the data. After analyzing the data, the researcher found; 1) a number of 27 students 0r 39,71% possesed diverger learning style which shown by their characteristics of being imaginative and sensitive; This type of learning is predicted to be succeed working in the aspects of art, entertainment, and service, 2) twenty four students (35,29%) showed as having assimilator learning style with the strength on logical thinking with which they can be succeed in science and education, 3) accomodator learning style is owned by twelve students (17,65%) which indicated by action of marketing, 4) five students (7,35%), had converger learning styles from which they had apporunities to be experts in the development of technology through application of idea and knowledge. Abstract

Reading is deemed to have great significance to develop other skills such as writing, speaking, and listening. It provides information and knowledge from a source in the written form. Moreover, reading and comprehension take place not only in the realm of education but in every field of life. Therefore, foreign language learners are supposed to be introduced with reading strategies in order to have successful reading comprehension as the essence of reading. This study explored the type and the frequency of the employment of reading strategies in academic reading. This was done through the instrument developed by Mokhtari and Sheorey (2002), the students’ preferred reading strategy was revealed. Additionally, the teacher’s method of teaching reading strategies was also explored.

Abstract

Learning media is one of the important supporting factors in achieving learning objectives. Learning media should have an attractive appearance, easy to use, and can be used anytime and anywhere so that it can stimulate student interest in learning. The purpose of this research is to develop learning media in the form of an android application in the Library Science Study Program. This research is a research and design research which consists of three stages, namely product analysis, product development, and testing. At the trial stage, the measuring instrument used was a questionnaire. The assessment of the feasibility of the application was carried out on one media expert, one material expert, and trials on 40 students. The assessment of the feasibility of the application and trial using a questionnaire which was then analyzed descriptively quantitatively. The results of the study obtained that the learning media based on the android application was very feasible to use with the results of an assessment score from media experts 83.92%, an assessment score from material experts 84.21%, and the results of trials conducted on 40 students got a score of 81.49%. It is hoped that this application can be used as a learning medium. In addition, it is hoped that further development will be carried out so that this application can be used on various platforms not only on Android.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pendidikan dalam pandangan masyarakat Baduy Dalam. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dan dianalisa dengan pendekatan etnografi. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan beberapa hal penting: pertama, masyarakat Baduy Dalam berpandangan bahwa pendidikan dasar mereka terbatas pada pengetahuan adat yang meliputi materi pembelajaran bidang pertanian, nilai-nilai kebudayaan, aturan tatanan hukum adat, dan keterampilan. Kedua, model atau bentuk pendidikannya dilakukan dengan cara lisan dan praktik langsung, yang diwariskan secara turun-temurun melalui keluarga, lembaga adat, maupun teman sebaya. Ketiga, masyarakat Baduy Dalam sampai saat ini tetap menolak segala macam bentuk pendidikan yang tidak sesuai dengan tataran hukum adat. Keempat, terdapat perubahan kehidupan sosial masyarakat Baduy Dalam yang disebabkan semakin banyaknya kontak langsung dengan pengunjung meskipun tidak bersifat masif. Keywords: Baduy Dalam, Adat, Model Pendidikan Abstract [Education in the View of Baduy Society ] This study aims to describe education in view of Baduy Dalam society. The method used in this research is qualitative research, and analyzed with ethnography approach. The results of this study reveal several important points: first, the Baduy Dalam community holds that their basic education that limited to indigenous knowledge, learning materials implementation of education that of agriculture, cultural values, rules of customary law, and skills. Second, the model or form education by way of verbal communication and direct practice, who passed down through generations through family, traditional institutions, and peers. Third, the Baduy Dalam community still rejects all forms of education that are not in accordance with the level of customary law. Fourth, the change of sosial life society Baduy Dalam caused by many direct contact with visitors despite not massive at all. Keywords: Baduy Dalam, Custom, Educational Model

Abstract

Study technology is the technology of learning it all, knowing it all, using it all and recalling it all. In this study, the researcher examined the undergraduate students’ readiness toward the adoption of study technology for learning. The research adopted a cross-sectional studies descriptive research of the survey type. The sample comprised of four hundred and fifty undergraduate students. A structured questionnaire was utilized in collecting data while percentage and mean were used to answer the research questions, independent t-test was used to analysed the data collected. The results of the study revealed that undergraduate students are ready to adopt study technology for learning. There was no significant difference between male and female undergraduate students readiness towards the adoption of study technology for learning. Recommendation were however made that learning environments in schools should be equipped to enhance the readiness of undergraduate students to learn effectively and that the federal and state ministries of education should make appropriate plans to increase the extent of readiness for both male and female students to adopt study technology learning style in their studies

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the attitude of Mathematics teachers towards the use of Multi- choice Resource Centres in Ogun State. A researcher designed questionnaire was administered to 35 Mathematics teachers in 20 secondary schools. Data obtained were analysed using percentage and mean. The study revealed that Mathematics teachers always use the technology tools provided at the Multi choice resource centre. Mathematics teachers also showed a positive attitude towards the use of the technology tools at the Multi- choice Resource Centres. The study concluded that the attitude of Mathematics teachers towards the use of the Multi- choice Resource Centres in Ogun State helps the usage. The study recommended among others that Multi- choice Resource Centres should be put in place in other schools and continuous training should be organized for the teachers.
