Yupa: Historical Studies Journal publishes articles for four aspects below. Historiography means the writing of history based on the critical examination of sources, the selection of particular details from the authentic materials in those sources, and the synthesis of those details into a narrative that stands the test of critical examination. Historiography studies cover chronologically various themes, such as local history, social history, cultural history, economic history, political history, military history, intellectual history, environmental history, and other historical studies. Philosophy of history, the study either of the historical process and its development or of the methods used by historians to understand their material. History of education is a study of the past that focuses on educational issues. These include education systems, institutions, theories, themes, and other related phenomena in the past. History education includes studies of how history teaches in school or society, curriculum, educational values in events, figures, and historical heritage, media and sources of historical learning, history teachers, and studies of textbooks.

Abstract

This article aims to study on the readiness of history teachers to inculcate historical thinking skills among students. This study focused on four aspects which includes 1) Procedural Knowledge, and 2) Pedagogical Knowledge. Thus, to achieve the purpose of the study, quantitative methods are used. Questionnaires were distributed to 30 history teachers in a secondary school in Batu Pahat district. The results showed that there were no significant differences between teachers who were trained to teach History and those who are not. However, there was a significant difference between teachers with ten years of teaching experience with the readiness of history teachers.

Abstract

Banjar people known as nomads and merchants in his life is famous for the principle that formed the character of the Banjar. Through the values contained in the philosophy/life principle of the Banjar people who can then be integrated into the world of education, one of which is historical education. The meaning and value of local wisdom existing in the community has a goal to increase learners to be able to develop their attributes derived from wisdom and local history of society, possessed the skill in understanding the society in the life of the process and possessing the characteristics and attitudes that are in line with the value of local wisdom. Amid the onslaught of technology and practicality of life offered, later emerged an approach that tried to highlight the local wisdom owned by the region, especially South Kalimantan. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to introduce the value of the urban life of Banjar philosophy and its integration in learning history as a form of cultural endurance. The method used in this writing that is with a qualitative approach and data collection is done by library study by collecting the relevant literature with this paper.

Abstract

This study was aimed to evaluate the Malay proficiency among students in Form Two especially non-Malay students and its relationship to academic achievement History. To achieve the purpose of the study there are two objectives, the first is to look at the difference between mean of Malay Language test influences min of academic achievement of History subject among non-Malay students in Form Two and the second is the relationship between the level of Malay proficiency and their academic achievement for History. This study used quantitative methods, which involved 100 people of Form Two non-Malay students in one of the schools in Klang, Selangor. This study used quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and statistical inference with IBM SPSS Statistics v22 software. This study found that there was a relationship between the proficiency of Malay language among non-Malay students with achievements in the subject of History. The implications of this study are discussed in this article.

Abstract

This study is aimed to describe the implementation of learning history in high school equivalency programs. This study uses the descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected by interviews, documentation, and observation. Data analysis technique use qualitative analysis inductive models with purposive sampling technique. The results of this study are: first, planning learning history in high school equivalency program started from In-House Training for educators in high school equivalency program which practiced in the preparation of the learning device are appropriate to the curriculum; second, the implementation of learning history in high school equivalency program involves three patterns of learning consisting of 20% face-to-face interaction, 30% tutorials, and 50% independent activity; third, constraints in the implementation is the readiness of learners in receiving learning materials, learning infrastructure, and the competence of educators in conveying the teaching of history; fourth, evaluation of learning history in high school equivalency program is equal to the formal school.

Abstract

This study focuses on the student towards paper implementation 3 subject of history. This study use where survey research design as many as 50 from respondent 4 in School orchid, Cheras, chosen by gregarious sample and use instrument in obtaining quantitative data. This research using Social learning theory Albert Bandura, theory of constructivism and also Bloom's Taxonomy model. Data analyzed by using Excel Microsoft software 2010 (Statistic pack) 2.0 (SPSS). Finding of correlation analysis show there is a significant relationship between student attitude approach with students’ knowledge towards paper of 3 history subject (r, =.846=, n=50, p<.0.5). Therefore, the paper 3 subject of history is seen as platform that is able to increase the understanding and performance of students in the general history often associated with subjects that are boring and hard to get better performance by students in examinations due to lack of interest, learning techniques are obsolete and inadequate learning

Abstract

This research described how life tolerance of religion in Nusa Jaya Village Belitang District III Regency OKU East Sumatera Selatan, besides to know the factors that cause success tolerance of religion in Nusa Jaya Village Belitang District III Regency of OKU East of South Sumatera. Tolerance is a problem that often arises throughout the time, especially tolerance among religious people. Historically, the religious nature of tolerance does not just appear. This research aims to determine the factors that lead to the success of religious, between Islam, Catholicism, Protestant Christianity, and Buddhism in the Nusa Jaya village, District III of East Belitang, District of OKU, South Sumatra. The method used in this study is the historical method, obtained through in-depth interviews, documentation and literature study. The results showed that normatively the basic values that form the basis of the establishment of tolerance among religious people is the value of religion and cultural Javanese descendants. While empirically composed of human values, nationalism, historical, exemplary public religious leaders and the value of patience.

Abstract

This research is aimed at investigating the readiness of History subject teachers in teaching and learning with the help of i-Think mind maps at secondary schools in the district of Setiu, Terengganu. The amount of sample chosen is 59 History teachers from secondary schools which consists of trained teachers without taking into account their specialization. As a whole, the research findings show that respondents have a high readiness level in implementing their teaching and learning process with the help of i-Think mind maps in secondary schools. The findings also show that there is a difference in teacher readiness between history teacher and non-history teacher and between those that went to courses and those who did not. Furthermore, there is a difference in the attitude, skill and usage level of i-Think mind maps in teachers that are experienced and those less experienced. However, research findings for experienced and less-experienced teachers showed that there are no significant differences in the level of knowledge on the concept of i-Think mind maps.

Abstract

The ethnic Chinese Muslims in Makassar has been there since the year 1606 in conjunction with Islam in Makassar. Dato ri Bandang was the one who initiated the spread of Islam among Chinese people of Makassar. During the new order, ethnic Chinese Muslims in Makassar city had done the intermingling with local communities. The new order had kept many discriminatory elements contains policy against ethnic Chinese in the city of Makassar. This is the sort of policy that directly affects the life of the field of social, cultural, political and religious. Although they are more successful in the field of economics. Even so, ethnic Chinese Muslims in Makassar when it is capable of performing a merging in all areas of social life.

Abstract

Saranjana is a mystical city that is a myth for the people of Pulau Laut, South Kalimantan. Rumours about this mysterious city became increasingly excited because its existence, but not recorded on the map of Indonesia. Therefore it is very interesting to examine from a historical point of view. The purpose of this paper is to uncover the historical side of the occult city suggestion on Pulau Laut. This study using the method of history is a method to test and analyze the critical records and relics of the past. The historical method consists of four stages, namely heuristics (data collection), source criticism, interpretation (interpreting facts) and historiography. The results show exist of Saranjana in a place between fact and myth. In conclusion, there are two hypotheses that the Saranjana is ethnic state Dayak Samihim tribe. Then the second hypothesis, that Saranjana is (only) the dream country of Prince Purabaya in the 18th century AD.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the application of historical learning model by using problem-based learning and obstacles from implementing problem-based learning model in history learning. This research uses descriptive qualitative research method. Data collection using observation and interview techniques. The result of the research shows that learning process is more centred on student activity with problem-solving related to history lesson material and obstacles in applying problem-based learning is the understanding and ability of educator in using learning model, complicated, limited time, facilities and infrastructure.
