Abstract

Decubitus ulcer or known as pressure ulcer is one of the types of chronic wounds that are often found. The incidences of decubitus ulcers are quite high in some countries, including in Indonesia. The main cause of decubitus ulcer is, long term immobilization, as example the total bedrest patients. Decubitus ulcers are associated with some diseases that causes immobilization such as spinal cord injury, lower extremity fracture, stroke, etc. The aim of this research is to identify the data of patients with decubitus ulcer in RSUD Dr. Soetomo period 1 January 2017 ? 31 December 2017. This research is a descriptive retrospective by collecting 148 secondary data from the medical records in RSUD Dr. Soetomo period 1 January 2017 ? 31 December 2017. Decubitus ulcer mostly be found in elderly (>65 years old) and was dominated by women. The most common disease that associated with decubitus ulcer is trauma (spinal cord injury and lower extremity fracture). The onset of decubitus ulcer in RSUD Dr. Soetomo patients is mostly more than 7 days. The prognosis and outcome of patients with decubitus ulcer are mostly dubia, with 2nd degree of ulcer and in alive condition.

Abstract

Spermatogenesis can be affected by oxidative stress produced by the increasing of pro-inflammatory adipokines because of high fat diet. The spermatogenesis cells damaged can be prevented with natural substance such as red pitaya (Hylocereus polyrhizus). This study aims to analyze effect of Hylocereus polyrhizus extract on rat?s spermatogenesis cells number that induced by high fat diet. This study had used true-experiment design. 30 rats were divided into 5 groups. Groups 1 to 4 had done treatment for 52 days and group 5 treatment for 104 days. Group 1 Negative control (K1) administered with standard diet, group 2 Positive control (K2) had administered quail egg 10ml/KgBW, group 3 Experiment 1 (P1) had administered quail egg polyrhyzus  10ml/Kg BW and with simvastatin 0,72mg/day, group 4 Experiment 2 (P2) had administered quail egg 10ml/KgBW and wth Hylocereus polyrhizus extract 60mg/day in 52 days, and group 5 Experiment 3 (P3) had administered quail egg 10ml/KgBW and with Hylocereus polyrhizus extract 60mg/day in 104 days. Data were analyzed by One Way ANOVA and continued with Post Hoc Tukey?s HSD (P-Value=0,05) for 52 day groups. Group P1 and P2 showed repairing effect and increasing spermatocytes and spermatids (p.000<0,05) compared to group K2. Group P2 had more spermatids and spermatocytes than group P1 (p.000<0,05). Group P2 52 days? spermatid cells equalled to group P3 104 days (p.469>0,05). Hylocereus polyrhizus extract not only had mechanism like simvastatin but also contained antioxidant, and a long-term treatment had not proven bad effect to spermatogenesis cells.  Conclusion. Hylocereus polyrhizus extract 60mg/day can repair and increase spermatogenesis cells induced with high fat diet.

Abstract

Hypertension has been known as risk factor of cardiovascular diseases necessitating the good control of blood pressure. The evident also shows the increased number of uncontrolled hypertensive patients. This study aimed to identify the determinants of controlled blood pressure in primary health centre hypertensive patients. The benefits of this research is to educated to public about factors that influence hypertension controlled. This research lasted for five months was conducted through patient interview of respondents meeting inclusion criteria in three primary health centres/PHC (PHC Menteng, PHC Tanah Abang, and PHC Johar Baru). Some data of the interview were validated by reviewing patient?s medical record. There were 26 factors used to analyse the determinants which included sociodemographic, biophysiology, dietary consumption patterns, use of hormonal contraceptives, physical activity, and stress). The result of multivariate regression analysis revealed two significant determinants, namely the presence of cardiovascular diseases (odd ratio/OR = 0,091, P-value = 0,004) and physical activity (OR = 10,647, P-value = 0,002). Patients with history of cardiovascular disease had 10,99 times risk to experience uncontrolled hypertension compared with those with no history of the disease. In addition, patients with routine physical activity at least 5 days/week (150 minutes/week) were 10,647 times to have controlled blood pressured as opposed to their counterpants.

Abstract

Hypercholesterolemic sufferers generally consume conventional drugs using hypolipidemic drugs to reduce cholesterol levels. But this type of drug also has side effects. In addition to consuming hypolipidemic drugs, increased cholesterol levels can be suppressed by regulating dietary patterns by controlling nutrient intake in a balanced manner as needed. Red dragon fruit skin extract (Hylocereus polyrhizus) applied to nata de coco is believed to reduce cholesterol levels because both contain fiber which can be used for dietary needs, and improve the digestive process. The purpose of this study was to determine the application and determine the dose of red dragon fruit skin extract (Hylocereus polyrhizus) in nata de coco in reducing total cholesterol, LDL and increasing HDL in mice (Mus musculus). The type of research used is experimental research using the Pre-Post Test Only Control Group Design research design that uses 18 mices with different doses of 1: 1 and 1: 2 doses. ANOVA statistical test on the results of the study showed that effective treatment in reducing total cholesterol, LDL, and increasing HDL was treated with extracts of red dragon fruit skin (Hylocereus polyrhizus) in a 1: 2 nata de coco. Thus it can be concluded that the higher the dosage given to mice tested it showed a significant reduction in cholesterol levels.
