Abstract

This study aims to find out student errors in solving linear equations of one variable based on Kastolan's theory. This study is descriptive research. The data collection technics that are used are 1) a test to solve the story problems of linear equations of one variable based on the Kastolan theory, 2) an interview with all subjects, and 3) documentation. The subjects of this study were seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Boleng, West Manggarai Regency, NTT with 20 students categorized based on their errors in Kastolan theory. The study results showed that 1) 36.66% of students made conceptual errors in understanding the concept of the meaning of the problem, 2) 58.33% of students made procedural errors by not following the steps in solving the problem and not writing the conclusion at the end of the answer, and 3) 35% of students made operations technical errors in calculating the value of solving problems and errors in writing variables and constants. The factors that are causing these errors because students do not understand the meaning of the questions, are not serious in answering questions and do not review the results of the assignment

Abstract

This study aims to describe the process and results of the development of authentic assessment in teaching geometry which refers to the 4-D model. Geometry authentic assessment in this study includes learning achievement tests, self-assessment, portfolio assessment, performance assessment guidelines, self-assessment guidelines, portfolio assessment guidelines, feasibility test instruments, teacher response questionnaires, student response questionnaires, and validation sheets. The research subjects are 8th-grade students of SMPN 2 Barombong, Gowa Regency. The validity test analysis is rationally obtained through two the results of the validation of experts, test reliability both rationally and empirically, and objectivity using the product-moment formula. The results showed that the authentic assessment met the criteria of being valid, practical, and effective. As a consequence, it is suggested that the development of authentic assessment tools for geometry learning be expanded to other resources to make teacher evaluation easier. Furthermore, the study's implications provide teachers with information for conducting authentic assessment formulation in the implementation of learning, especially for students.

Abstract

Problem posing in this research asks students to make questions. One of the internal factors that affect the ability of students in posing problems was student cognitive style. The purpose of this study, describe the student's mathematical problem posing in terms of the visualizer and verbalizer cognitive styles. This type of research was qualitative research. Research instruments were the VVQ (Visualizer and Verbalizer Questionnaire) test, problem-posing test, and interview guidelines. The results of this study were that the visualizer subject posed more problems from visual information than verbal information, all the problems made were categorized as assignment propositions, and only contained one semantic relation. Meanwhile, the verbalizer subject makes the number of questions the same between verbal and visual information, the problems made were categorized as assignment propositions and categorized as conditional propositions, and all problems contain only one semantic relation.

Abstract

This research aims to design student worksheets based on problem-based learning in composition and inverse functions to facilitate conceptual understanding is valid. This research uses a PPE model by Richey and Klein; there are three parts: planning, production, and evaluation. The planning stage is a product planning process that will be developed for a specific purpose. The production stage is the process of making a product according to a previously made design. The evaluation stage is the process of testing and assessing the product that has been developed. The data obtained from the expert validator is then processed using a Likert scale and calculated using Aiken's formula to conclude the validity of the product developed. The Student Worksheets based on Problem Based Learning to aid students' understanding of mathematical ideas on composition functions and inverse functions were valid, have a 0.84 average validity value, and were classified as high. The PBL model familiarizes students with understanding concepts through problem-solving processes. On the other hand, learning mathematics using PBL effectively improves students' understanding and abilities because students apply mathematical concepts in everyday life.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the spatial ability of masculine male and feminine female students in solving geometric problems. The subjects of this study are one masculine male gender and one feminine female gender junior high school students who had the same mathematical ability. The subject selection was carried out using the Bem Sex Role Inventory instrument and Middle Semester Assessment scores, followed by conducting TPM (Problem Solving Test) and TPM-based interviews. The data collected from the TPM results and TPM-based interviews were then analyzed by applying the following steps: categorization, reduction, data presentation, interpretation, and conclusion. The results showed that subject-1 satisfied five indicators of spatial ability, namely spatial perception, visualization, spatial rotation, spatial relations, and spatial orientation so that it can be said to have high spatial abilities. On the other hand, subject-2 only meets three indicators of spatial ability, namely spatial rotation, spatial relation, and spatial orientation, so it can be said that female students have moderate spatial abilities. It is expected that the results of this study will be useful for future research and the mathematics learning process in schools

Abstract

This research was conducted to find out whether there is a significant comparison to the mathematical learning outcomes of students of class VIII SMPN 3 Waru when doing face-to-face learning and online learning. The learning results used in this study are the PAS scores of class VIII learners in odd and even semesters of the 2019/2020 school year. The method used in this study was ex post facto correlation and used the Wilcoxon test with the help of the SPSS 25 software. Wilcoxon's statistical test results showed the 2-tailed Asymptotic Significance was worth 0,506. Because 0,506>0,05 then H_a rejected and H_0 accepted, it can be concluded that this study shows no significant difference in the mathematical learning outcomes of SMPN 3 Waru learners when doing face-to-face and online learning.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the impact of Knisley’s learning model to improve students’ conceptual understanding ability of circle material. Knisley’s learning model is based on well-structured knowledge to relate new concepts to students’ previous knowledge and experiences. This study is quantitative research, using quasi-experimental research methods, and the research design uses a non-equivalent control group design. In the pretest, it was obtained that tcount<ttable (1,426<2,01063) and sig. (2-tailed) > 0,05 where 0,160 > 0,05, so from the results of the pretest, it was concluded that there was no difference in conceptual understanding between the control class and the experimental class on the circle material at MTs An-Nur Bululawang. In the posttest, tcount> ttable (2.105 > 2.01063) and sig. (2-tailed) < 0.05 where 0.041 < 0.05 as a result of the post-test questions, it was determined that the control and experimental classes at MTs An-Nur Bululawang had a different conceptual grasp of the circular material. The Knisley learning paradigm can improve students' conceptual comprehension skills, according to the findings of this study, and is effective if applied in students’ mathematics learning.

Abstract

In the era of industrial revolution 4.0 and community technology 5.0, smartphones are currently very widely used by educational practitioners as a medium for learning mathematics. It aims to attract students' interest in learning mathematics that is considered difficult by students such as trigonometry material. A lot of software is used to make android-based learning media for smartphones, one of which is Adobe Flash CS 6. This research is ADDIE version development research which includes five levels, specifically: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The instruments used are professional validation questionnaires and scholar response questionnaires. The validation expert concludes that Android-based mathematics learning media using Adobe Flash CS 6 on trigonometry material is included in the category "very feasible and can be used with a little revision." While the results of the student response questionnaire obtained a very good percentage of student responses and got the "very practical" category.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describe the application of online inquiry learning with the GeoGebra-assisted scaffolding technique on quadratic function material in grade IX students at SMP Negeri 1 Malang. This research is a qualitative descriptive study, with the instruments used in the form of a learning implementation sheet, student activity sheets, student learning outcomes tests, questionnaires, and interviews. The results showed that learning according to the steps of inquiry had gone very well with an average implementation score of 94.5. Learning is carried out by scaffolding through questions directed at focusing, inviting, reminding, clarifying, and evaluating so that it is compatible with inquiry learning which is applied online. Student learning outcomes reached an average score of 73 daily tests in the good category.
