Abstract

Observations made at work stations of  batik cap production, there are still some working conditions that are not appropriate on their worker, one of which is unnatural posture. Unusual work postures that can trigger the occurrence of pain complaints such as musculoskeletal disorders (musculoskeletal disorders). Often unwittingly, batik workers work with positions or postures that have health risks such as musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). Based on the observation seen that at the work station batik production there are some problems related work methods. Therefore, to improve which work station needs to be repaired, it is necessary to do risk assessment of batik production station work posture using Visual Management approach.                    The Visual Management approach in this study uses the ergonomic analysis method for the whole body of REBA (Rapid Entire Body Assessment) and OWAS (Ovako Working Posture Analysis System), upper limb RULA (Rapid Upper limb Assessment) and OCRA checklist and by adding some aspects Associated with overload and repetitiveness in the OCRA checklist and OWAS.                Based on the assessment of work posture by visual management method, the result of OES value shows 3 processes with OES value ≤ 0.4 with accepted operational status and 2 process with OES value is in the range 0.4 <OES ≤ 0.5, with operational status becomes' necessary further investigation, Changes may be required

Abstract

In today’s competitive business environment, competition between organizations has become strict and more competitive. Oil and Gas Company is a learning organization that manages knowledge for implementing Knowledge Management (KM) as company intangible asset in order to reach higher competitive advantage. The investment in KM needs to be evaluated to assure the advantage obtained from the investment. The objective of this study is to evaluate knowledge management performance by comparing and ranking each division to find division that represents the most desirable performance to the least performance. The methodology used to evaluate is Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). The AHP arranges the decision problem into a hierarchy of more easily comprehended. This research adopts SECI model as a criteria that correlated to KM performance. In order to identify the area for improvements by means of determine the differences between division, gap analysis was conducted. Prioritize of criteria socialization (37.68%), internalization (23.63%), combination (23.61%), and externalization (15.08%). The result of division with highest weight of KM performance is planning and the lowest is financial. Financial division needs to improve the overall SECI process by increasing interaction between team members, routine progress reports and also verbalizing knowledge based on documents. A case study in an oil and gas company was conducted to demonstrate how to evaluate KM using AHP.

Abstract

CV. ABC is one of company that offers services on package delivery. Based on observation wasconducted during the months of January up to August in 200x was found tardiness around 2.5% average per month. The type of delivery service that having the highest level of tardiness is the ONS (Overnight Service). This research is aim to design a model of performance measurement and to compile system proposal of supply chain to minimize the tardiness of ONS’s system in CV. ABC. The model was developed from previous result such as Bowersox & Closs (1996), Simchi-Levi et. al. (2000) dan Beamon (2004) that are performance measure model by involving the four measurement variables: delivery to commit date, order fulfillment leadtime, response time, and make time. The result of the data analysis describes that the actual performance of the four variables still in below the target. Therefore, it is suggested to conduct a restructurization to redesign the ONS system itself. Proposal of designing based on Beamon theory to develop operation improvement. The processing time during the packages stay in ABC's branch of Solo needs a very long duration passing by the definite target, so it is recommended: 1). to eliminate the uneffective process, 2). to merge the processes that are possible to be handled together, 3). to use better facility to shorten the length of the process, and 4). to apply a new documentation system.

Abstract

CV. Titian Mandiri is a company that produce bottling water which still use manual lifting method. The advantages of this method are more flexible, effective and low cost. On the other hand, bad manual lifting can generate pain in several operator body segments, such as hand, back, waist and thigh.Leave from those reality, it is needed to do some working method analysis and improvement based on biomechanical principle. NIOSH method used to know lifting safety limit and Chaffin-Anderson equation used to predictable the force that happened on abdominal segment, L5/S1 and operators hand segment. This study shows that RWL value for lifting to pick up car is 8,223 kg and lifting to the box car is 6,208 kg. The LI value for lifting to pick up car is 2,311 and for lifting to box car is 3,060.The improvement of working method was done by rearrange the gallon position and add amount of table. The high of the table is 52 cm and the gallon position would be in front of operator sagital line exactly. This improvement changes RWL value for lifting to pick up become 13,820 kg and 11,475 kg for lifting to the box car. LI value for lifting to the pick up descend become 1,374 and LI value for lifting to the box car become 1,6557.

Abstract

Abstract

This paper extends previous study of batch sizing and sequencing problems in flow line production system. We develop a new model to optimize the batch size and sequence in two-stage production system. The previous study optimizes the same decision variables but for single-stage production system. In this study, stage 1 has one machine and makes a batch of N types of component with different size for each type. Stage 2 also has single assembling facility and assembles those batch of components into a batch of single type of final product. Each type of component has a different setup time and setup cost, and each batch offinal products has constant setup time and constant setup cost. Optimum batch size and optimum sequence will minimize average production cost per unit time.
