Gondang is a Journal of Art and Cultural for information and communication resources for academics, and observers of Art and Culture, Performing Arts, Educational Arts, Methodology of Art and Cultural. The published paper is the result of research, reflection, and actual critical study with respect to the themes of Art and Culture. All papers are peer-reviewed by at least two referees. The scope of Gondang is the Science of Art and Culture. Published twice a year (June and December) and first published for print edition in June 2017.

Abstract

The digital age is an era that makes it easier for people to receive and send information. Various digital technology systems are increasingly developing in one area of education or learning. The purpose of music learning is applied and internalized as learning that encourages students to be creative and express according to their development. To live this digital era both students, teachers and school institutions will face challenges. Challenges can be seen from the students, teachers, and school institutions. In students, such as the lack of students' interest in music, and teachers of learning music not from a background in music, as well as school infrastructure does not fulfill music learning. To face this challenge, the school held a learning revolution and teacher competence. The use of this research method is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. With the reason that the writer observes, and constructs the social situation about music learning, the obstacles faced, and solutions to face obstacles so that it is more clear and meaningful.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop teacher modules to improve teachers' ability in managing learning materials. The study used a research and development method developed by Borg and Gall. The Subjects of the research was Teachers of Arts studies that are not backgrounded in art education. The data collection techniques used questionnaires and Focus Group Discussion. Technique of the data analysis used analisys description. Arts Subject is still guided by teachers who have no background in art education. On the other hand, the progress of information technology is still not utilized optimally. Art dance material in practice is easier to use audio visual media. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a digital-based module that can be accessed through various social media. The results showed a digital-based module developed to improve the ability of teachers in managing learning materials. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the development of digital dance teacher module is used to improve the teachers’ competency of art and culture. Recommended, teachers are be able to develop modules in accordance with the needs in the field.

Abstract

Seni pertunjukan barong Using merupakan seni pertunjukan asli masyarakat Using. Barong Using digunakan sebagai keperluan sakral untuk ritual bersih desa. Ritual dilaksanakan 2 kali dalam setahun. Ritual Ider Bumi tanggal 2 Syawal dan ritual selamatan desa bulan dulhijah. Perkembangan budaya membawa seni pertunjukan barong berfungsi sebagai kebutuhan sakral dan profan. Terdapat upaya-upaya mengoptimalisasikan seni pertunjukan barong oleh pemanfaatan pariwisata. Permasalahan yang terdapat dalam penelitian ini terkait membahas (1) sejarah seni pertunjukan Barong Kemiren yang didalamnya mengkaji prosesi ritual dengan nilai-nilai sosial budaya; dan (2) upaya optimalisasi seni pertunjukan barong kemiren masyarakat Using tahun 1996-2018 sebagai pemanfaatan pariwisata. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yakni metode penelitian sejarah dengan menggunakanya pendekatan antropologi budaya untuk mengkaji perubahan secara budaya serta menggunakan teori fungsionalisme struktural untuk menganalisis pergeseran fungsi barong secara sosial sebagai dampak pariwisata. Hasil pembahasan ini, optimalisasi akan seni pertunjukan barong dikemas dalam keterkaitan lima pilar penyangga pengembangan pariwisata dan industri kreatif yakni, negara, pelaku seni dan ritual, masyarakat pendukung, industri, dan pemuka agama. Pilar-pilar ini bisa memberikan masukan yang tepat sehingga memunculkan respons yang baik dari kalangan pengusaha, birokrat, praktisi budaya, dan pelaku seni tradisi dan ritual. Kini seni pertunjukan barong mengalami banyak perubahan mulai dari struktur pertunjukan dan selingan-selingan yang menyertai.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mendeskrisikan nilai-nilai Kesenian Dongkrek dan merumuskan model internalisasinya yang tepat guna meningkatkan ketahanan budaya pada siswa SMA Kabupaten Madiun. Subyek penelitiannya adalah seniman Dongkrek, guru, dan siswa kelas X SMA Kabupaten Madiun. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan tahun 2018-2019 dengan menggunakan metode R&D. Prosedur pengembangan model internalisasi nilai yang digunakan mengadaptasi model pengembangan Gall, Gall, dan Borg. Model yang dikembangkan dianalisis dengan kriteria teoritis (penilaian ahli dan praktisi) dan kriteria secara praktis (hasil pengujian terbatas dan luas). Teknik pengujiannya menggunakan model single one shot case study dan analisis keefektivitasannya menggunakan statistik deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menggambarkan bahwa Kesenian Dongkrek mengandung nilai-nilai keutamaan dan berpotensi sebagai sumber memperkokoh ketahanan nasional dengan Model Nampe. Model Nampe secara teoritis layak digunakan untuk meningkatkan ketahanan budaya. Model ini secara praktis juga menunjukkan hasil positif dan lebih efektif dalam menginternalisasi nilai kesenian Dongkrek dalam meningkatkan ketahanan budaya siswa SMA Kabupaten Madiun.

Abstract

Interpretation of I Gusti Anglurah Panji Sakti is a title of musical composition that interprets or reinterprets the figure of King Panji Sakti who has smart characters, courageous, sympathetic, accommodating, and always close to his subordinates and thick with the Patriotism nature of anti-hegemony, anti-imperialism and anti monopoly in a jazz composition. In the process of its creation, it was motivated by an interest in the figure of Panji Sakti as a King who deserved to be a role model, because of his nationalist and patriotic character which according to the composer was very good in build character of the nation, evident from his living history in speech stories and folklore, through this work the composer also hopes to contribute in reviving the Panji Sakti figure to theother people. This article aims to provide an overview of the process of transforming the figure of King Panji Sakti into jazz music. The process of transformation into jazz music is done by the method of creation from exploration which begins with the study of literature on the history of Panji Sakti and research.in the improvisation step, the composer imagine to find suitable motives to implementing the figure of Panji Sakti and design it so that it becomes the main melodies in this work, then rests on Pono Banoe's opinion about the elements of music namely melody, rhythm and harmony the creator explored the main melody with chords and rhythm which was deemed suitable for this work so that it became a complete musical composition, after which this work was copied into musical notes, and the result is music compositions with a tempo of 100 and beats 4/4, 5 / 4, and 7/4 with key centers G / 1 # (one sharp) and song forms AI, AII, B, and AIII, at the forming step the composer determines the instrument, and chooses supporting musicians who will help in the process of this music.

Abstract

The trend of initiating art design carrying wayang as the theme, is an attempt initiated by young generation that is worth-appreciated. However, the process of at design-making itself mostly does not genuinely pay attention to the essentials that each wayang figure has. Omitting or replacing one of the elements of Wayang Purwa could possibly change the values of wayang itself. This study is conducted to arrange a representative figure of Wayang Purwa, which is, Pandawa gagrak Surakarta as the principle of the design making without excluding the meanings and identities of the character. The method used in this study is qualitative, obtained from various references, such as; books, articles, and journals related to the Pandawa gagrak Surakarta figure, and interview with Bambang Suwarno, as a puppeteer as well as a leather wayang crafter. The result of this research is a reference of the Pandawa Lima and Gatotkaca figures design, as mostly used in various media.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the form of Aut Boi Nian songs, to know the meaning contained in the lyrics of Aut Boi Nian songs, to know the relevance of Aut Boi Nian songs with Toba Dreams movie scenes. The theory used in this research is the theory of study that explains the definition of the study or describes a detailed. Theory of music is a cultural activity that is very familiar with human life. Theory of form is a complete scheme or arrangement of several phrases, the theory of meaning that uses the theory of semiotics. The method in this research is descriptive qualitative method where the data is examined through data collection in the form of beam notation, scientific papers, expert opinions, and electronics (Video) whose material is based on the topic of this research. This study choose the location at the Music Laboratory, Building A 2nd Floor of the Faculty of Languages and Arts State University of Medan. In this study the authors did not use the population but directly took samples of the song lyrics Aut Boi Nian and Toba Dreams movie pieces. Based on the results of research conducted it can be seen that the form of the song from Aut Boi Nian is a two-part song form that is A-A '-B-B’. Form A consists of the question phrase and answer phrase, the form A 'consists of the question phrase and answer phrase. Form B consists of the question phrase and answer phrase, the form B 'consists of the question phrase and answer phrase. The meaning contained in the Aut Boi Nian songs is telling of a love story that is too love a woman who ultimately choose another man because of economic factors. The relevance of Aut Boi Nian songs with Toba Dreams movie scenes is not too related to all the scenes in the movie but only in some scenes only.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to develop the students' creative characters in fluency, flexibility, originality, elaboration and redefinition through dance learning using Treffinger-surrounding based- method. The subject of the research was students of XI social 4 of SMAN 8 CRB. In the process, the surrounding was used as the stimulus of the dance creation as the real product that shown the character development of students' creativity. The learning method that was being implemented in four meetings was based on the steps of Treffinger method that is basic tool, practice woth process, and working with real problem.the method that was used in this research was exprimental research with the paradigm of quantitative. The result of this research proved that there was the increase of students' score by comparing the pre-test and post-test results. The average of pretest was 64 and after the treatment the posttest result was 82.  Beside that, the value of t-account for every indicators on creative characters was bigger than t-table. Thus the hypothesis of this research that the treffinger-surrounding based method could increase the students' creative characters, can be accepted.

Abstract

Barongan is one of traditional arts owned by society in Demak regency. Barongan born and developed together with its supporting community, one of them is Barongan Kusumojoyo’s group. This research aims to analyze the structure and symbolic interaction of Barongan Kusumojoyo performing arts. Research methods use qualitative with ethnographic design. Data collection use observation, interview, and document study. Data analysis use theory of form of the show, structural functional, and symbolic interaction, with three steps of analysis. Data validation use technical triangulation and source triangulation. Research result conclude that structure of Barongan Kusumojoyo performing arts often change for each perform. The difference is caused by the purpose of each different performing. Performing structure for entertainment and performing structure for aesthetic or art festival are different. Main difference is seen by story in every perform, especially in aesthetic perform. Symbolic interaction in Barongan Kusumojoyo performing art can be observed from ornament of the show like ornament in mask, property, costume, and sesajen. Ornaments that appear are cultural ornament and decorative ornament. The most important is audience and sponsor feel happy and satisfied with Barongan Kusumojoyo performing arts.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain data on changes in function and initial forms of performing Lebon in the community, Pepedan Village, Parigi District, Pangandaran Regency. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach. With the development of the current era through various factors, the Lebon art has turned into a means of entertainment that is arranged in such a way that the aim of the Lebon art remains sustainable and is accepted by the Papedan community. Lebon art in the language of the local community lebon has a meaning that is grave or buried. Lebon art performance can occur because there are two groups fighting over plantation land ownership or fighting over women to be wives, Lebon art is art that contains violence in earlier times, because in this art required as winners are surviving champions and losers must reach die and be buried in the place of the Lebon art performance. Lebon art in general Pangandaran community has become an art that was born originally from Pangandaran Regency.
