Abstract

This article aims to reveal the transformation process of a traditional lullaby entitled Kacang Dari into chamber music so that the song can rise from the of extinction. The problems discussed in this article are focused on the rapid development of technology that has indirectly made the legacy of traditions, especially traditional songs, increasingly abandoned. One of the traditional songs that is on the verge of extinction is Kacang Dari. Kacang Dari is a traditional song originating from Pujungan Village, Pupuan, Tabanan-Bali. This song is a lullaby that is rarely sung now, even very few children in Pujungan Village know about the song Kacang Dari. In order to approach this problem, the researcher uses the theory of transformation and composition theory to represent the song into a new form, namely chamber music. In this transformation process the researcher uses the creation method which refers to the method offered by Alma Hawkins consisting of the exploration, improvisation, and formation stage. This creation concludes that a traditional song that is getting extinct and not sung by the song can be picked up and transformed into a new form so that it can maintain its existence and attract the public's interest to be able to re-enjoy the song.

Abstract

Human has their own way to resolve their life problem and to adapt with their environment according to their knowledge and culture. People's culture with mythical paradigm about tales and myths are often used as life guidance that need to be applied. They blend themselves in environment and actualize it in ritual and arts. Society with ontology paradigm consider myths as an entertainment, not to be applied in life. They lean on science to explain anything in life, also in arts. These two paradigms spread in some area, villagers and urban society. This distinction of perception produce an argue over which culture and arts are better. Based on this issue, this article aims to inspire mythical community and ontology to use experience capital, knowledge, thoughts, and their culture as substance to study art, to be specific dance art. Each culture has the same material, the only thing that differentiate is the form which is not realized by the community. Also in arts, whether it involves feel or using scientific techniques can be regarded as the property of arts studies.

The discussion in this study examines the creativity of Tri Broto Wibisono who is one of the traditional dance artists in East Java. The aim of the research is to explore the process that Tri Broto Wibisono does in making a dance work so that he is able to come up with his own dance style. This study uses a descriptive analysis method that describes the creative process of Tri Broto Wibisono in making a dance work and elaborates with Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory. In this research, Tri Broto Wibisono in his creative process carried out several stages, namely nyantrik (studying local dance artists), deepening the material, interpreting traditions, and new interpretations. The conclusion from the creative process of Tri Broto Wibisono is that in creating a dance, a stimulus from outside and inside is needed which will lead to an idea which is then continued by expressing it into creativity and producing a dance work that gives rise to the Tri Broto Wibisono style.
