Gondang is a Journal of Art and Cultural for information and communication resources for academics, and observers of Art and Culture, Performing Arts, Educational Arts, Methodology of Art and Cultural. The published paper is the result of research, reflection, and actual critical study with respect to the themes of Art and Culture. All papers are peer-reviewed by at least two referees. The scope of Gondang is the Science of Art and Culture. Published twice a year (June and December) and first published for print edition in June 2017.

Abstract

Era disrupsi melahirkan perubahan besar dalam dunia seni rupa, dipicu oleh perkembangan teknologi digital-virtual dalam revolusi industri 4.0. Artikel ini mengkaji tentang eksistensi seni rupa di era disrupsi. Sejauhmana teknologi berdampak dalam medan sosial seni rupa, apakah teknologi dapat mengancam eksistensi perupa atau seniman, dan apakah teknologi dapat mereduksi nilai-nilai karya seni rupa konvensional. Sejalan dengan metode deskriptif-kualitatif, pembahasan dilakukan berdasarkan pendekatan sosiologi seni, didukung dengan pendekatan visual culture dan kreativitas seni. Hasil kajian menjelaskan bahwa: Pertama, teknologi era disrupsi secara umum berdampak positif dalam medan sosial seni rupa. Dalam medan sosial penciptaan, teknologi mendukung sistem kerja yang lebih praktis dan produktif. Dalam medan sosial penyajian seni, teknologi virtual sangat mendukung sosialisasi dan promosi karya secara luas. Begitu juga dalam medan sosial pengkajian seni, teknologi virtual dapat mengundang partisipasi masyarakat global. Kedua, teknologi tidak dapat menggantikan eksistensi perupa yang berorientasi ekspresi estetis, kecuali yang berorientasi menghasilkan karya fungsional. Secara umum, teknologi mendukung aktivitas kesenirupaan. Ketiga, nilai seni rupa tidak tereduksi oleh teknologi, karena nilai karya melekat pada karakter atau roh yang dilahirkan perupa, bukan yang dihasilkan teknologi.

Abstract

This article was created with the aim of seeing the extent of the identity of Riau Islands through the art of dance known in the community and trying to revive the identity of traditional dance through documentation of the dance movement itself. Thus, the problem in this research is focused on traditional dance movements that are indeed the identity of Riau Islands identifiers, namely malay dance movements. This research was conducted by exploring the roots of the dance from art actors directly through interviews and documenting them. Through the collection of dance movement information is then documented so that it can be seen or read by all people. So that traditional dance as the identity of Riau Islands is well documented. Based on the results of the rersponden assessment, 61% stated that knowing and knowing the traditional dance of Riau Islands, the rest stated that less knowing the traditional dance. Art performances can only be enjoyed on certain occasions. To overcome this, one way to bring traditional dance identity to life is to gather information related to traditional dances and document them in the form of photos, videos and books, increasing the frequency of dance performances.

Abstract

This paper is based on the results of research aimed at describing the existence and development of Burdah music performances in Lombok Timur The type of research used descriptive qualitatively using methods with the object of study is the Burdah music. The location of this research is in Rempung Village, Pringgasela District, Lombok Timur Regency. The target of the study in this study is the existence of Burdah music performances. Data is collected through observation data collection techniques, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques are performed with data reduction steps, data presentation and data verification. The results of this study showed that the factors that support the existence of Burdah music consists of good management, has a complete organizational structure with managerial system, solid in achieving the goal of using an educational system, has a characteristic that maintains a sense of solidarity between members and management and has a lot of performance experience both formal and non-formal. The conclusion of this paper is that the existence of Burdah music is strongly influenced by management factors, solidarity, characteristics and performance experience.

Abstract

This research is aimed to improve knowledge, attitude, skill and appreciation of Nusantara Dances. It is conducted by Action Research method which is developed by Kemmis & McTaggart. The data were collected by questionnaire and analysed by Mix method which is developed by Creswell. The sample of this research is the 8th grade students of Public Junior High School 2 Kotabaru. Knowledge, attitude and skill of appreciation of Nusantara dances is important to be delivered to junior high school student as one of provision effort to nusantara culture, especially dances. The Learning of Nusantara Dances Appreciation is implemented through two cycles. Each cycle has four meetings. Before the intervention action of first cycle, there is a Pre-test. And then the final post test result of first Cycle shows that there is improvement result compared to the pre-test result. More over the post test result of second cycle is imporoved too compared to the post test result of the first cycle, even it has reached the set out target. In conclusion according to the result of the research, Blended learning model is effective to be used on improving the appreciation of Nusantara Dances. Thus, Art & Culture Teacher at school is suggested to use this blended learning model.

Abstract

The Balinese puppets in the traditional paintings as a cultural heritage has inspired Balinese craftsmen created ceramic works of aesthetic value. The efforts these craftsmen can be read as resistance to entry the ceramic works from outside and the production of the ceramic art in Indonesia that ignore Indonesian characters. This study aims to discuss the aesthetics of visuals ceramic works that apply Balinese puppets ornaments. The data collection method by observation and documentation. The results showed that the aesthetics of the ceramic craft products with Balinese puppets ornaments seen from unity, harmony, symmetry, balance, and contrast are quite good, although not yet optimal. Besides, the visual aesthetics of the ceramic works have not displayed good complexity, so the beauty that obtained was not optimal. The visual aesthetic assessment of this work was subjective in nature, so it was possible that there will be different judgments. The conclusion that aesthetics can be achieved by elevating the cultural traditions of the past and at the same time as a form of appreciation for that culture and become a differentiator amid the rise of Chinese ceramics in Indonesia.

Abstract

This article aims to explain the use of audiovisual media in learning music. To carry out teaching through audiovisual media, it is necessary to prepare a learning unit, choose the correct audiovisual media and adjust it to a musical instrument or teaching topic, to know the duration of the audiovisual media, which must be adjusted to the lesson hours. To prepare students, they are given a general explanation of the contents of the learning video, then they play back and prepare the equipment for a smooth learning experience. Follow-up: After watching a film or video, the teacher also did examples of playing music, thinking, and asking questions to students to find out how well the students understood the material.

Abstract

This study intend to analyze the creations of Syofyani Yusaf dance. Study methods using the phenomenological method. Data collection techniques using questionnaires and interviews. The study subject is Syofyani Yusaf. Data analysis techniques using evaluative descriptive. Syofyani Yusaf is one of the prominent artist from West Sumatera. At present there are around 20 dances created. These dances have been studied through dance studio, formal school, and study programs in art colleges. The results of an analysis of Syofyani’s dance shows; (1)  the dances theme originaly come from the life of the Minang cultures; (2) Preservation of dance creations is carried out through culture exchange programs and culture knowledge. The results of the study can be concluded that dance creations by Sofyani Yusaf are sill performed and studied by the people not only from the Minang tribe but also another tribes. It is recommended that teachers in formal and non-formal schools become agents of culture exchange programs and culture knowledge.

Abstract

Pamatang diartikan juga bagaimana kehati-hatian dalam berjalan di sawah baik yang searah ataupun yang berlawanan arah. Konsep Karya Tari pada ide dasarnya, dikemukanakan dalam pamatang adalah bagaimana kita menjadikan batasan pengarapan yang akan dicapai dan kehati-hatian dalam menjalankan kehidupan. Pemikiran dalam berkarya yang berangkat dalam artian pamatang merupakan suatu hal yang harus dijalankan dengan baik, kehati-hatian dalam menjalankan pola hidup di tengah masyarakat, jika kita tidak berhati-hati dalam berjalan dipematang maka kita akan tergelincir dan masuk kedalam sawah. Perkembangan dalam menentukan ide garap karya tari pamatang berdasarkan dari filosofis pamatang itu sendiri, sebuah batasan wilayah yang akan ditanam dan kehati-hatian dalam berjalan dipematang. Pemikiran ide kreatif dalam melahirkan bentuk karya seni tentu akan berbeda-beda pada setiap orang yang akan menafsirkannya. Pengkarya disini menampilkan dengan dua orang penari untuk menampilkan karya tari pamatang, dua orang penari menyimbolkan dua laras kepemimpinan di Minangkabau yaitu Bodi Chaniago dan Koto Piliang yang keduanya memilki aturan tertentu dalam menjalankan tata pemerintahannya. Artinya kepimpinan dalam karya pamatang ini kehati-hatian dalam bertindak dan mengambil keputusan yang tepat, karena berdampak kepada kaumnya.

Abstract

Tarian Troen U Laôt merupakan cerminan masyarakat Pesisir Pidie Aceh dalam pola hidup dan perilaku masyarakatnya, yang dominan bermata pencaharian sebagai nelayan. Tari ini diadopsi dari prosesi menangkap ikan di laut dengan cara menjaring, yang dilakukan bersama-sama, menjadi pola-pola gerak yang tersusun diringi syair, sholawat, dan zikir. Masyarakat Pesisir Pidie menjadikan tarian ini bagian dari kehidupan mereka, yang terlihat pada aktivitas nelayan terlihat dalam struktur penyajian berkaitan dengan susunan, bentuk, pengolahan elemen tari, pengolahan gerak, ruang, waktu, dan isi.berisi pesan Dari penyajian Tari Troen U Laôt.Penelitian ini bersifat deskriftif kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan etnokoreologi, dengan menggunakan pendekatan dari ilmu lain dalam melihat aspek- penyajian tari yang berkaitan dengan kehidupan masyarakat nelayan, sehingga menjadi ciri dari masyarakatnya. Dalampenelitian ini digunakan teori bentuk oleh Soedarsono, estetika Djenlantik sebagai analisis dalam melihat bentuk penyajian tari berkaitan dengan filosofi keindahan tari bedasar latar belakang masyarakatnya, dan pendekatan sejarah, melihat keberadaan tari Troen U Laôt. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tentang tari Trouen U laot Sebagai iedntitas masyarakat Aceh khususnya masyrakat pidie.  Hasil penelitian menjelaskan, beberapa hal tersebut tergambar dari kebiasan masyarakat saat melakukan aktivitas dilaut, gotong royong, diiringi oleh tiga orang pemusik dengan menggunakan alat musik rapai, serune kale, dan geundrang. Tarian ini dibentuk dari bagian, yaitu: (1) Babakan Mukayoeh (2) Babakan Mulinggang; (3) Babakan Mukayoeh, (4) Pouget Pukat (5) Babakan Tarek Pukat.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the ability to understand culture through the Mochi Mask dance. The research method used experimental. The research sample of students of the Sagara dance studio, Sukabumi city. Data collection techniques using a questionnaire. Data analysis techniques using nonparametric statistics. Mochi mask is a type of dance that develops in the city of Sukabumi. This dance is inspired by the culinary culture of the city of Sukabumi, namely Mochi. Sanggar Sagara is one that provides material for Mochi Mask dance using the Mind Mapping method. This method is a treatment to improve the ability to understand culture. The results showed an increase in the ability to understand culture. This is indicated by the average pretest results of 66.00. and the post test results of 87.50. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the mind mapping method can improve the ability to understand culture. It is suggested that other studios can use the mind mapping method to improve their ability to understand culture.
