This journal, with ISSN 2088-1290, was firstly published on June 1, 2011, in the context to commemorate the Birthday of Pancasila's Name in Indonesia. Since issue of June 2012 to December 2014, the ATIKAN journal was organized by the Lecturers of FKIP UNSUR (Faculty of Education and Teacher Training, Suryakancana University) in Cianjur; and, since issue of December 2014 to June 2015, by the Lecturers of FPOK UPI (Faculty of Sport and Health Education, Indonesia University of Education) in Bandung; and published by Minda Masagi Press as a publisher owned by ASPENSI (the Association of Indonesian Scholars of History Education) in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. The articles published in ATIKAN journal are able to be written in English as well as in Indonesian and Malay languages. This journal is published twice a year i.e. every June and December. The ATIKAN journal is devoted, but not limited to, primary education, secondary education, higher education, teacher education, special education, adult education, non-formal education, and any new development and advancement in the field of education. The scope of our journal includes: (1) Language and literature education; (2) Social science education; (3) Sports and health education; (4) Economy and business education; (5) Math and natural science education; (6) Vocational and engineering education; and (7) Visual arts, dance, music, and design education.

Abstract

ABSTRACT: With the advancement of knowledge, the world is becoming more and more competitive. Quality of performance has become the key factor for an individual achievement. The present study was carried out to compare intelligence and academic achievement in relation to students’ gender, stream, and socio-economic status. Total 200 boys and girls from Science and Humanities streams were taken as the sample of the study. Investigator used M.C. Joshi’s intelligence test (1956) and socio-economic status scale by S.D. Kapoor & H.C. Kocher (1997-1998) for collecting the data. T-Test and product moment method was used to find the results. The study reveals that girls on an average have high intelligence as compared to boys. On an average the male and female students have similar academic achievement. On an average Science student’s high intelligence than the Humanities students. The correlation between intelligence and academic achievement have come out to be positive and significantly. This shows that higher the intelligence will be higher the academic achievement. The correlations between intelligence and socio-economic status have come out to be non-significant. This means that intelligence and socio-economic status are not correlated with each other.KEY WORD: Intelligence, academic achievement, socio-economic status, gender, Science and Humanities streams, and high intelligence.IKHTISAR: “Studi Perbandingan tentang Kecerdasan dan Prestasi Akademik para Siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas dalam Kaitannya dengan Gender, Jurusan, dan Status Sosial-Ekonomi Mereka”. Dengan kemajuan pengetahuan, dunia menjadi semakin kompetitif. Kualitas kinerja menjadi faktor kunci untuk keberhasilan individu. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk membandingkan kecerdasan dan prestasi akademik dalam kaitannya dengan gender, jurusan, dan status sosial-ekonomi para siswa. Sebanyak 200 siswa laki-laki dan perempuan dari jurusan Sains dan Humaniora diambil sebagai sampel penelitian. Peneliti menggunakan uji kecerdasan dari M.C. Joshi (1956) dan skala status sosial-ekonomi oleh S.D. Kapoor & H.C. Kocher (1997-1998) untuk mengumpulkan data. T-Test dan metode hasil seketika digunakan untuk mendapatkan hasil penelitian. Penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa para siswa perempuan, rata-rata memiliki kecerdasan yang tinggi dibandingkan dengan para siswa laki-laki. Mengenai rata-rata siswa laki-laki dan perempuan memiliki prestasi akademik yang sama. Rata-rata kecerdasan siswa pada ilmu Sains lebih tinggi daripada siswa ilmu Humaniora. Korelasi antara kecerdasan dan prestasi akademik menjadi positif dan signifikan. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi kecerdasan akan menjadi lebih tinggi pula prestasi akademik. Korelasi antara kecerdasan dan status sosial-ekonomi menjadi tidak signifikan. Abstract

RINGKASAN: Penelitian ini untuk mengetahui penerapan metode latihan keterampilan psikologis, berupa latihan relaksasi, imagery, dan relaksasi-imagery, yang dapat memberi pengaruh signifikan terhadap peningkatan kinerja wasit dalam memimpin pertandingan sepakbola. Penelitian dilakukan terhadap wasit Pengcab PSSI (Pengurus Cabang Persatuan Sepakbola Seluruh Indonesia) Kabupaten Subang, Jawa Barat. Metode penelitian adalah eksperimen dengan instrumen pengumpulan data berupa form penilaian wasit dari FIFA (Federasi Persatuan Sepakbola Dunia), yang digunakan oleh PSSI untuk mengukur kinerja wasit dalam memimpin pertandingan sepakbola. Kesimpulan menyatakan bahwa metode latihan keterampilan psikologis, berupa latihan relaksasi, memberi pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kinerja wasit dalam memimpin pertandingan sepakbola; metode latihan keterampilan psikologis, berupa latihan imagery, memberi pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kinerja wasit dalam memimpin pertandingan sepakbola; dan metode latihan keterampilan psikologis, berupa latihan relaksasi-imagery, memberi pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kinerja wasit dalam memimpin pertandingan sepakbola. Metode latihan keterampilan psikologis rileksasi-imagery lebih memberi pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kinerja wasit dalam memimpin pertandingan sepakbola. PSSI dan Komisi Wasit disarankan agar memberikan latihan keterampilan psikologis pada setiap sesi latihan, karena ianya sangat penting untuk meningkatkan kinerja wasit dalam memimpin pertandingan sepakbola.KATA KUNCI: Penerapan Metode; Latihan Keterampilan Psikologis; Kinerja Wasit; Memimpin Pertandingan; Permainan Sepakbola. ABSTRACT: “The Application of Psychological Skills Training Methods to Increase the Referee Performance in Leading the Football Game”. This study is to know the application of psychological skills training methods, such as relaxation exercises, imagery, and relaxation-imagery, that can provide a significant effect on performance the referee to improve in leading the football game. Research was conducted on the referee of Pengcab PSSI (Branch Committee of Indonesian Football Association) in Subang Regency, West Java. Research method is an experimental with instrument to collect the data is the referee assessment form of FIFA (Federation of International Football Association) that used by the PSSI to measure the performance of referee in leading a football game. The conclusion stated that a method of psychological skills training, such as relaxation exercises, is significant influence on the performance of referee in leading a football game; psychological skills training method, such as imagery exercises, is significant influence on the performance of referee in leading a football game; and psychological skills training method, such as relaxation-imagery exercises, is significant influence on the performance of the referee in leading a football game. The psychological skills training methods of relaxation-imagery is more significant influence on the performance of the referee in leading a football game. Abstract

ABSTRACT: Educational technology has a tremendous capacity to provide best possible output in the process of education for both teachers and the students. Proactive use of technology is not the total answer to inequities and inadequacies that exist in educational programmes and teacher training, but it can provide at least a partial solution by strengthening a school ability to receive, transmit, and exchange information. E-learning is most expedient way in learning and training without having to go to school and training centers. E-learning is very much helpful for the teachers to their professional development. Keeping the importance of e-learning, an attempt has made through this study by the researchers to know the attitude of Higher Secondary School teachers towards e-learning in Purulia District of West Bengal, India. The present study was based on survey method, particularly the normative survey research method. One hundred fifty teachers (both male and female) teaching in Arts and Science’s streams were taken as representative sample of the whole population. An attitude scale was used for collecting the data. The means of both groups were tested for significance of difference by using “CR” test. It was found that the attitude of Higher Secondary School teachers of Purulia District of West Bengal, India is neither more favourable nor unfavourable towards e-learning, i.e. satisfactory or average in attitude towards e-learning.KEY WORD: Attitude, school teacher and student, professional development, school ability, electronic learning, and transmit and exchange information.RINGKASAN: “Sikap Guru-guru Sekolah Menengah Atas terhadap E-Learning di Distrik Purulia, Bengal Barat, India”. Pendidikan teknologi memiliki kapasitas yang luar biasa untuk memberikan hasil terbaik dalam proses pendidikan bagi para guru dan siswa. Penggunaan proaktif teknologi bukanlah jawaban total terhadap ketimpangan dan kekurangan yang ada dalam program pendidikan dan pelatihan guru, tetapi dapat memberikan setidaknya solusi parsial dengan memperkuat kemampuan sekolah untuk menerima, mengirimkan, dan pertukaran informasi. E-learning adalah cara yang paling bijak dalam pembelajaran dan pelatihan tanpa harus pergi ke sekolah dan pusat pelatihan. E-learning sangat banyak membantu guru dalam pengembangan profesi mereka. Menjaga pentingnya e-learning, sebuah upaya telah dilakukan melalui studi ini oleh peneliti untuk mengetahui sikap guru Sekolah Menengah Atas terhadap e-learning di Distrik Purulia, Bengal Barat, India. Penelitian ini didasarkan pada metode survei, khususnya metode penelitian survei normatif. Seratus lima puluh guru (baik laki-laki maupun perempuan) yang mengajar di bidang Seni dan Sains diambil sebagai sampel yang representatif dari seluruh populasi. Skala sikap digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data. Min kedua kelompok diuji untuk signifikansi perbedaan dengan menggunakan tes “CR”. Abstract

ABSTRACT: The depiction of women’s subjugation and subordination of women is prevalence and feminist critics determines to dismantle the ideology of patriarchal dominance to create awareness about the positioning and rules of women in society. This paper intends to explore the author’s depiction of nature associated with the formation of women’s self. Karen Warren (1997) indicates that trees, water, animal, toxics, and nature language are feminist issues because understanding them helps one understand the status and plight of women cross-culturally. The depiction of natural environment and the position of women will be explored in detail to understand and criticizes author’s perception toward nature and woman. The author’s uses of domestic animal like a bird and a cat to symbolize the women’s need for companionship but this also connotes to women dependency. Women’s uses of natural flower and faunas as women’s fragrance are significance and the author acknowledges women’s knowledge of natural products that are available around the house. The paper also explores the metaphors that are associated the portrayal of the unattended local trees that surrounding the neglected “Rumah Limas potongan Perak” house which relates the image of Sangeetha’s physical being. Using Taiping in Perak, Malaysia as the setting, the author’s depiction of the natural floral and faunas is densely coalesced with the preservation of natural heritage that reflects the author’s attitude toward nature and environment. Finally, this paper explores in detail the reciprocal relationship between literature and nature by examining natural heritages elements related to the northern region of peninsular Malaysia that uniquely illustrated through the novel. Abstract

IKHTISAR: Dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, masyarakat menggunakan bahasa yang beragam. Secara garis besar, ragam bahasa dapat diklasifikasikan berdasarkan pengguna dan penggunaannya. Dalam hal ini, penting memahami tiga kriteria berkenaan dengan ragam bahasa, yakni: media yang digunakan, latar belakang penutur, dan pokok persoalan yang dibicarakan. Berdasarkan tiga kriteria tersebut biasanya kajian sosio-linguistik dilakukan. Pada umumnya pula, bangsa Indonesia merupakan dwibahasawan, yakni berbahasa Indonesia dan berbahasa daerah, meskipun salah satunya minim. Potensi bahasa Indonesia dan bahasa daerah bagi pemberdayaan masyarakat dapat dikaji melalui pendekatan sosio-linguistik. Data penggunaan bahasa masyarakat di pedesaan dapat deskripsikan berdasarkan struktur, konteks, fungsi, dan maknanya sehingga diketahui pokok-pokok pembicaraan, pandangan hidup, inspirasi, serta harapan hidupnya. Berdasarkan aspek-aspek itu, para katalisator pemberdaya masyarakat desa dapat memilih penggunaan bahasa yang tepat kepada masyarakat dwibahasawan agar masyarakat termotivasi untuk dapat hidup mandiri sesuai dengan kapasitasnya. KATA KUNCI: Potensi bahasa, sosio-linguistik, dwibahasawan, masyarakat Indonesia, pokok-pokok pembicaraan, dan hidup mandiri.ABSTRACT: This article entitled the “Optimalization of Using the Indonesian and the Vernacular Languages as Social Capital in Developing the Rural Community”. In everyday life, people use diverse languages. Broadly speaking, language variations can be classified based on users and usage. In this case, it is important to understand the three criteria with respect to diversity of languages, namely: the media used, background speakers, and the subject matter discussed. Based on the three criteria above, socio-linguistic studies have usually done. In general, Indonesian people is also bilingual, namely they can speak the Indonesian language as well as vernacular language, though one of them is minimum. The potency of Indonesian and vernacular languages for empowering society can be studied by socio-linguistics approach. The usage data of society language in rural people can be described based on structure, context, function, and its meaning so that knowning the talking specifics, way of life, inspiration, and its hope of life. Abstract

ABSTRACT: Educators are faced with the challenge of adapting their teaching styles to accommodate a new generation of digital learners. These digital learners, who are now entering colleges and universities, have learning expectations, styles, and needs different from past students. The question is how to adapt teaching strategies to accommodate the digital learners, in light of their preferences for digital literacy, experiential learning, interactivity, and immediacy? Meanwhile, the higher education today has also the opportunity to reshape itself and play an important role in the future of our society. Whether that role is ultimately fulfilled will depend on fresh, creative thinking, and a firm commitment to move teaching, learning, and the university into the digital age. The manner in which students are taught will not truly change until the manner in which we teach and evaluate students change. This working paper tries to elaborate the multiple studies that suggest moving students from consumers of information to producers of information. This is the key to engaging digital learning. However, until teachers are trained to expect and accept content gathered through social networks with emphasis on teaching students how to check validity and reliability of the web, the full power of the digital natives can not be released or expanded. Finally, this working paper recommends that teachers must allow students to publish broadly then promote peer and expert outside evaluation. These new learners are instructed by teachers who, for the majority, spent childhoods engulfed in television programs that fed information for consumption, rather than interaction, omitting the choices and short snippets that lead to further discovery. Abstract

IKHTISAR: Proses genesis dan perkembangan nasionalisme di Indonesia memiliki sejarah yang panjang dan dinamis. Pengenalan sistem pendidikan modern pada awal abad ke-20 telah melahirkan golongan elite terdidik dan cendekiawan yang tercerahkan. Sekat-sekat etnisitas mulai mencair dan gambaran imajiner tentang negara-bangsa yang bernama “Indonesia” mulai diwacanakan dan diperjuangkan agar menjadi kenyataan. Proses modernisasi dan pembangunan pasca kemerdekaan melahirkan banyak harapan agar Indonesia merupakan “proyek bersama” bagi semua anak bangsa. Namun gejala ketidakpuasan terhadap proses dan hasil pembangunan juga muncul yang ditopang oleh akar-akar etnisitas yang kembali menguat. Masalah etnisitas, nasionalitas, dan integrasi nasional di Indonesia memiliki konteks historis yang khas. Akhirnya, diperlukan kearifan sejarah untuk bisa mewujudkan Indonesia menjadi negara-bangsa yang maju, sejahtera, dan merdeka bagi semua anak bangsa di masa depan.KATA KUNCI: Etnisitas, nasionalitas, golongan cendekiawan, negara-bangsa Indonesia, dan integrasi nasional.ABSTRACT: The genesis process and nationalism development in Indonesia has its long journey and dynamic history. The introduction of modern education in the early 20th century has emerged the educated elite group and enlightened intellectuals. Ethnicity gaps have melted and an imagined community, i.e. “Indonesia”, has begun to be discussed and struggled in order to be realized. Modernization process and post-independence development have resulted in wishes to make Indonesia become “collective project” for all people of nation-state. However, the symptom of dissatisfaction on the development process and result appeared which were supported by ethnicity roots that were stronger. The problems of ethnicity, nationality, and national integration in Indonesia have particular historical context. Abstract

ABSTRACT: E-learning is a technology which supports teaching and learning via a computer and the web technology. It bridges the gap between a teacher and a student in two different geographical locations. Advancement in internet and multimedia technology is the basic enable for e-learning. E-learning applications facilitate online access to learning content and administration. Despite much enthusiasm about the roles of technology in education, its role in transforming teacher learning, in ways aligned with advances in the learning sciences and contemporary socio-cultural perspectives, few changes have occurred. While many teacher educators are turning away from technology, after early attempts met with mitigated success, some are pushing the boundaries of teacher education and professional activity systems. This paper identifies and analyzes emerging trends and models in e-learning for teacher education and professional development from the developing research base, both international trends and current developments. Educational institutions and teaching staff have many benefits due to emergence of modern technology. Teachers have their own networks through which they connect themselves with other teachers across the globe. Institutions have web-supported classrooms. Similarly, it also enhanced the responsibilities of schools, colleges, and universities that should have such teachers who can produce such students, who after receiving their education can adjust themselves at any platform.KEY WORD: E-learning, higher education, multimedia technology, teaching and learning, networks, online access, and professional development.IKHTISAR: Artikel ini berjudul “Relevansi E-Learning di Perguruan Tinggi”. E-learning adalah teknologi yang mendukung pengajaran dan pembelajaran melalui komputer dan teknologi web. Ia menjembatani kesenjangan antara guru dan siswa di dua lokasi geografis yang berbeda. Kemajuan internet dan teknologi multimedia adalah kemampuan mendasar untuk e-learning. Aplikasi e-learning memfasilitasi akses online untuk konten dan administrasi pembelajaran. Meskipun banyak antusiasme tentang peran teknologi dalam pendidikan, perannya dalam mengubah pembelajaran guru, dengan menyelaraskan kemajuan ilmu pembelajaran dengan perspektif sosial-budaya kontemporer, masih sedikit perubahan telah terjadi. Sementara banyak pendidik guru yang berpaling dari teknologi, setelah upaya awal menemui kekurang-berhasilan, ada pula yang mendorong mengatasi batas-batas pendidikan guru dan sistem kegiatan profesional. Makalah ini mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis tren dan model dalam e-learning untuk pendidikan guru dan pengembangan profesional dari penelitian dasar dan pengembangan, baik secara tren internasional maupun perkembangan saat ini. Lembaga pendidikan dan staf pengajar memiliki banyak manfaat karena munculnya teknologi modern ini. Paru guru memiliki jaringan mereka sendiri di mana mereka dapat menghubungkan diri dengan guru-guru lain di seluruh dunia. Lembaga-lembaga memiliki ruang kelas berbasis web yang mendukung. Abstract

IKHTISAR: Mayoritas mahasiswa menganggap bahwa matakuliah Analisis Real sulit difahami. Oleh karena itu perlu suatu kajian tentang penyebab kurang fahamnya mahasiswa. Kemampuan prasyarat, yang ada pada mahasiswa, dianalisis dan dikaji seberapa besar pengaruhnya terhadap kemampuan penalaran matematis mahasiswa dalam matakuliah Analisis Real. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode kuantitatif. Pada penelitian ini, populasinya adalah mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika UNSUR (Universitas Suryakancana) di Cianjur, tingkat 3 semester 6, sebanyak 49 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan instrumen tes (tes uraian kemampuan penalaran matematis dalam matakuliah Analisis Real) dan non-tes (daftar nilai matakuliah Pengantar Dasar Matematika dan Kalkulus I). Penelitian menghasilkan bahwa: (1) Terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan antara kemampuan prasyarat dengan kemampuan penalaran matematis mahasiswa dalam matakuliah Analisis Real; dan (2) Terdapat pengaruh signifikan kemampuan prasyarat terhadap kemampuan penalaran matematis mahasiswa dalam matakuliah Analisis Real. Diharapkan setelah adanya analisis dan kajian tentang masalah ini akan ada solusinya, baik berupa perbaikan kurikulum maupun bahan ajar.KATA KUNCI: Matakuliah Analisis Real, kemampuan prasyarat, kemampuan penalaran matematis, hubungan positif dan signifikan, serta  perbaikan kurikulum dan bahan ajar.ABSTRACT: “The Effect of Prerequisites Ability towards Mathematical Reasoning Ability of Students in the Real Analysis Course”. The majority of students think that the Real Analysis courses are elusive. Hence, the need for a study of the causes less understanding of the students. Prerequisite capabilities, that exist in students, were analysed and researched how big influence on mathematical reasoning abilities of students in the course of Real Analysis. Research methods was using the quantitative methods. In this study, the population is students of Mathematics Education Program Study at UNSUR (Suryakancana University) in Cianjur, at 3 semesters 6 levels, were 49 people. The data was collected using a test instrument (test description of mathematical reasoning abilities in the course of Real Analysis ) and non-test (grade list from the courses of Introduction to Basic Mathematics and Calculus I). In this study resulted that: (1) There is a positive and significant relationship between the ability of the prerequisite and mathematical reasoning abilities of students in the course of Real Analysis; and (2) There is a significant effect the capability requirements towards the mathematical reasoning ability of the students in the course of Real Analysis. It is expected that after the analysis and study of this problem will have a solution, either in the form of improving the curriculum and teaching materials.KEY WORD: Real Analysis courses, prerequisite capability, mathematical reasoning ability, positive and significant relationship, and improving the curriculum and teaching materials. Abstract

IKHTISAR: Kertas ini membincangkan kaedah pembangunan akhlak remaja menurut seorang tokoh ilmuwan Islam, iaitu Imam al-Ghazali. Kertas ini turut menyingkap siapakah tokoh terulung ini dan sejauh manakah kaedah pembangunan akhlak yang diperkenalkannya dalam kitab masyhur, “Ihya’ Ulum al-Din”, diaplikasikan dalam program tarbiah di sekolah-sekolah menengah aliran agama berasrama di Negeri Kedah, Malaysia. Kajian dijalankan dengan menggunakan borang soal selidik yang diedarkan kepada 11 orang wakil guru dan 602 orang pelajar remaja dari 11 buah sekolah di Negeri Kedah. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa kaedah pembangunan akhlak yang dicetuskan oleh Imam al-Ghazali memang diguna-pakai dan diamalkan oleh para pendidik dalam program tarbiah sekolah agama di Negeri Kedah dengan skor min keseluruhan sebanyak 4.21, iaitu pada tahap yang tinggi.KATA KUNCI: Imam al-Ghazali, pembangunan akhlak, remaja, kitab “Ihya’ Ulum al-Din”, dan program tarbiah. ABSTRACT: This paper discusses the methods of moral development of teenagers according to a prominent Islamic scholar, Imam al-Ghazali. This paper also reveals who is this great scholar and what are the methods of moral development that was introduced in his famous book, “Ihya Ulum al-Din”. This paper also ensures which methods are applied to overreach programs in residential schools of religious in the State of Kedah, Malaysia. The study was conducted by using questionnaires that were distributed to 11 teachers and 602 students from 11 schools in the State of Kedah.
