Abstract

There has been a lot of discussion and debate on the issues of Islamization of Contemporary Knowledge among Muslim intellectuals. Two Muslim thinkers namely al-Attas and al-Faruqi were foremost in the attempt to conceptualize the problem of the Muslim Ummah and the issue of Islamization of knowledge as an epistemological and socio-political solution. This article aims to examine, compare and analyze the ideas of both scholars with respect to the various interpretations of the concept of Islamization of knowledge their definition of the concept, their philosophical framework, and their methodology for achieving the goals of Islamization. It aims at understanding the similarities and differences and the strengths and weaknesses of their conceptions, philosophical framework and methodology. This paper also explores the possibility of reconciliation between their ideas in the hope of further advancing the cause of Islamization of knowledge.

Abstract

Al-Qur’an contains many valuable pointers on educational matters. Surah Luqmān, the 31st surah in al-Qur’an, is one of several important repositories of those pointers. This article tries to scrutinize the concept of Excellent Education in Surah Luqmān by focusing on two main points, namely the aim of education and the curriculum of childhood education. The study reveals that excellent education in al-Qur’an directs people to know their selves well and to perform their true functions in life. The concept of excellent education in al-Qur’an is formulated in an integrated and all-inclusive curriculum aiming at refinement of all potentials of human intteligence, namely spiritual intteligence, emotional intelligence, and cognitive-rational intelligence. This curriculum emphasizes five central matters in human life, namely tauhid, acts of worship, ethic, mentality, and management of life. When the children are well educated on these five central matters, they will totally improve in order to find happiness in this wordly life and in the hereafter.

Abstract

Muhammad Abduh is one of Salaf-Sufism figure who has rational Islamic concept in modern era. He was a reformer rational concept. He said that muslim’s deterioration happened because of muslim was contaminated by unbending (jumud) in many aspects; language, Islamic law (syariah), faith and society system. For Islamic context in Indonesia, Abduh’s concept has placed important role of Islamic history in Indonesia. For example, Muhammadiyah organization. It is the proof and the result of Muhammad Abduh’s reformism in islam. As the admiration to Muhammad Abduh, Ahmad Dahlan as the founder of Muhammadiyah, include Muhammad Abduh’s concept in curriculum of Muhammadiyah Schools, especially in Risalah Tauhid.

Abstract

Pendidikan pesantren diakui telah mencetak tokoh bangsa yang ulama’, sehingga pola pendidikannya menarik untuk didalami guna menemukan formulasi pendidikan karakter. Dalam konteks ini penulis memotret pesantren Nurul Hikmah Bakeong Guluk-Guluk Sumenep sebagai sampel tunggal yang memungkinkan adanya generalisasi, dengan fokus: (1) Bagaimana pola pendidikan di pondok pesantren Nurul Hikmah Bakeong Guluk-Guluk Sumenep?, (2) Bagaimana pola pendidikan pesantren Nurul Hikmah Bakeong Guluk-Guluk Sumenep dalam tinjauan pendidikan karakter?Untuk menjawab fokus ini penulis menggunakan perangkat metodologis dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif berbasis pada paradigma fenomenologi melalui instrumen pendukung (interview, observasi, dokumentasi) yang memungkinkan data objektif bisa diangkat ke permukaan. Hasil eksplorasi menunjukkan: Pola pendidikan di pesantren tersebut menggunakan pola pendidikan khalaf, perpaduan kurikulum pesantren dengan kurikulum Nasional. Pola ini memenuhi 4 kebutuhan dasar pendidikan karakter antara olah fikir, olah rasa, olah hati dan olah raga. Olah fikir, nampak dari pendidikan formal dan non formal yang mampu menumbuhkan rasa ingin tahu, kreatifitas, menghargai prestasi dan gemar membaca. Olah rasa terasa dari kehidupan pesantren yang sarat nuansa religius dan serba bersama yang memunculkan karakter religius, jujur, toleran, komunikatif, demokratis, cinta damai, peduli lingkungan dan peduli sosial. Olah hati seperti shalat berjama’ah, dzikir, pengajian menghasilkan karakter religius, jujur, cinta damai dan bertanggungjawab. Olah raga membentuk kepribadian santri yang disiplin, kerja keras dan mandiri.

Abstract

This article discusses about al-Ghazali’s concept, one of the Islamic greatest ulama, philosopher and Sufism. It would like to describe about the knowledge and happiness existence. For Al-Ghazali, the happiness couldn’t be released from the knowledge because by studying and inspiring of knowledge, the human being will be in happiness. And also, the achieved happiness is always running parallel with the level of the applied knowledge. The method in this journal is using library research and content analyzing. Al-Ghazali explained that body existence (material) would result the transitory happiness, while the soul existence (immaterial) would result the eternal happiness from the world up to the beyond. Al-Ghazali said that knowledge epistemology is divided by two sources of seeking. The first is humanity source, and the second is divinity source.

Abstract

Islam is the religion with aesthetics. It is Muslim’s obligation to generously spread the beauty of Islamic teachings in all aspects of life, health, education and economy. For that reason, Like Islam Project tries to promote da’wah Islam through its business, a creative home industry. Like Islam Project uses Islamic quotes in their merchandise products to convey Islamic teachings. This study is a qualitative descriptive study. Data is collected through face-to-face interview with the owner and an online interview, using Whatsappplatform, with 2 of their resellers. To validate observation and documentation are performed. Result shows that Like Islam Project has special strategies to reach their goals. Those strategies are clear intention, qualified human resources, setting da’wah targets, selecting appropriate media, and also having original idea and concept. Background and da’wah style of Like Islam Project are also discussed.

Abstract

As the most important medium of developing civilization, Islamic University should be able to reflect on human figure which reflects the nature of God. The human being is the center of civilization. Human figure who could build the civilized human civilization is the figure who reflects the nature of God. This man is known by term insan kamil. Fundamentally, the structure and curriculum of Islamic University should be taken from the nature of man which consists permanent and spiritual dimension as well as material and emotional dimension. Then in practical level, research activities in the educational activities should involve various methods, such as religious and scientific, empirical and rational, deductive and inductive, subjective and objective, without making one method is more dominant than the other. Because of the University’s curriculum-based involve all ‘civilized human beings’ potential in a whole organ intact and holistic, then it is called tauhidi curriculum. In short, the Islamic University is a reflection of the insan kamil or universal human being (al-insān al-kullīor al-insān al-kāmil), which is directed to form a human figure perfectly and completely.

Abstract

Aisyah binti Abu Bakar Woman figure in Islam which was said passing her era, and known by her intelligence. Her act in Islamic history was so strategic and giving more real contribution to development of Islamic science. It was become references by an intellectual of Muslim and Rasulullah’s friends. Her intelligence was getting the better than other woman in her era, especially in qur’anic interpretation (tafsir), prophetic traditional (hadits), fiqh, medical and literature. She has sensitivity in understanding about some medicines that given to Rasulullah, until she could know well about it. Besides that, Aisyah was the only one girl who was married by Rasulullah.

Abstract

نعتقد بأن من يقدر على قواعد اللغة فيقدر أيضا على قراءة وفهم النصوص المكتوبة. لا ريب أن الغاية من تدريس قواعد اللغة هي القدرة على إطلاع النصوص العربية. بالنسبة إلى تلك الغاية، قامت طريقتا "الشامل" و"الاكتشاف" وسيلة أساسية في الأنشطة التعليمية للمساعدة على قدرة قراءة الكتب العربية بمعهد الأمين الإسلامي برندوان ومعهد فونجاك دار السلام فمكاسان. فالمؤشرات التي حددتها الباحثة هي؛ خلفية تأليف كل الطريقة وأنشطة تنفيذهما وخصائصهما وعملية تقويم قراءة الكتب العربية باستخدام كل الطريقة. استنتجت هذه المقالة الأمور التالية؛ (1) تعليم القواعد العربية باستخدام طريقة الشامل يبدأ بكشف القواعد الصرفية المقررة في كتابها الجزء الأول ويتم تعليمها بكشف القواعد النحوية المقررة في كتابها الجزء الثاني. أما تعليم االقواعد العربية باستخدام طريقة الاكتشاف يجري اندماجا بين أسلوب سوروغان وأسلوب ويطونان. يستخدم المعلم القواعد النحوية والصرفية في تعليمها بالاقتران وليس فيه أسبقية.كلاهما وحدة وكلاهما أفضلية. تكون هذه الطريقة جزءا من عملية التسريع لتحقيق قراءة الكتب العربية. (2) عملية تقويم قراءة الكتب العربية لم تزل حول دقة وطلاقة الطلاب في قراءة النص وترجمته إلى اللغة الإندونيسية، وتعديل صيغ الكلمات وإعراب الجمل مع ذكر علامة إعرابها كلمة فكلمة، والتصريف اللغوي والاصطلاحي. خصص المؤلف عملية التقويم لقراءة الكتب العربية باستخدام طريقة الشامل في تعديل الرموز الكثيرة للقواعد المتنوعة إما القواعد الصرفية أم النحوية، وباستخدام طريقة الاكتشاف في تعديل أبيات الشعر عن قواعد اللغة العربية
