JWP (Jurnal Wacana Politik) diterbitkan dua kali dalam setahun, di mana setiap artikel yang diterbitkan telah melalui proses peer review. Beberapa isu empirik dalam sub kajian yang dibahas dalam jurnal ini antara lain politik regional dan kebijakan publik, relasi agama dan demokrasi, kampanye dan pemilu, ekonomi politik, pemilu dan partai politik, serta relasi kekuasaan dan komunikasi politik. JWP (Jurnal Wacana Politik) menggunakan sistem online (Open Journal System) mulai dari publikasi hingga proses penerbitan. Jurnal Wacana Politik mengundang para penulis dari kalangan akademisi, mahasiswa, birokrat, dan LSM untuk mengunggah artikel hasil penelitian atau kajian kepustakaannya. Setiap artikel dituntut memenuhi standar penulisan karya ilmiah yang beretika. Saat ini, Jurnal Wacana Politik terbit berkala dua kali dalam satu tahun yaitu pada bulan Maret dan Oktober.

Internal conflict within a political party commonplaces in political institutions, especially in the context of fighting for power or leadership in a party. Problem revitalisasi hutan kota dan upaya penyediaan Ruang Terbuka Hijau (RTH) oleh Pemerintah di wilayah perkotaan pada dasarnya merupakan satu kajian baru di bidang politik lingkungan di Indonesia. Penelitian ini secara khusus mengkaji kebijakan revitalisasi Hutan Kota Malabar di Kota Malang dengan pisau analisis anthroposentrisme dan ekosentrisme. Dengan menggunakan metode focus group discussion (FGD) dan dokumentasi, penulis melacak jejak kuasa dalam kebijakan lingkungan di wilayah-wilayah perkotaan. Berdasarkan analisis fakta di lapangan ditemukan sebuah trade-off kepentingan dalam skema kebijakan revitalisasi hutan kota Malabar tahun 2015. Penggunaan dana Tanggung Jawab Sosial Lingkungan (TJSL) dengan skema build-transfer-operate (BTO) dalam revitalisasi hutan menunjukkan terjadinya penetrasi modal di balik inisiatif penyediaan RTH yang melibatkan pihak swasta di Kota Malang. Di satu sisi, kebijakan ini dapat mempermudah pemerintah dalam pembangunan RTH. Namun di sisi lain kebijakan ini dapat merugikan anggaran pemerintah yang hanya berfungsi sebagai operator RTH.

Pasca kebangkitan reformasi, perjuangan Islamisme bertransformasi menjadi sebuah gerakan sosial sebagai sebuah representasi masyarakat modern. Tulisan ini hendak memaparkan temuan historis serta mengkaji, bagaimana gerakan Islamisme di Indonesia berdinamika mulai dari awal kebangkitannya hingga upaya nya menyesuaikan diri dengan perkembangan zaman. Tanpa melibatkan arus radikal lebih jauh, tulisan ini hanya mencoba menggali gerakan Islamisme mulai dari Sarikat Islam, Darul Islam, Masyumi, hingga FPI sebagai representasi gerakan Islamisme kontemporer dengan menggunakan pendekatan fenomenologis.Kata Kunci: Islam Politik, Islamisme, Gerakan Islam

Political socialization was conducted by Electoral Committee as an attempt to foster public participation in the election of integrity. However, some factors are impeding public participation which needs to be overcome by the electoral committee. Therefore, innovative model of political socialization is needed to improve the quality of future election in Indonesia. Qualitative method is employed in this study to investigate the role of current political socialization and to find out an innovative way which should be undertaken by electoral committee to foster public participation in the election.Â

Patterns of business and political relations in the reform period is one form of transformation of theÂ pattern of political and business relations of the New Order. This relation involving actors in theÂ political and economical sector through the actions taken to share the resources of the state, whereÂ the practice of rent seeking is done openly in a democratic regime. Rent seeking in the reformÂ period was transformed through regime change, from the authoritarian New Order regime toÂ democratic regime in reform period. In the transformation process, rent seeking growing not onlyÂ among economical and political / governmental actors at the central level but also extends to localactors. The shift in the relation of power from the center to the regions shifting the map ofÂ corruption that was once centralized and then spread to smaller level of area. Pattern of businessÂ and political relationships was transformed due to the reorganization of the business actors duringÂ the New Order to the current political situation to keep control of economic resources; TheÂ appearance of new businesses as new economic powers; and the presence of political/governmentalÂ actors still dominated by predatory power relations and clientelism.

Etika penyelenggara pemilu telah diatur dengan Peraturan Bersama di mana ketika peraturan itu dilanggar, maka penyelenggara pemilu itu dapat diberi sanksi sampai yang terberat: pemberhentian tetap. Meskipun demikian, peraturan ketat itu tak berhasil membuat empat orang Komisioner Labuhan Batu Selatan tak melakukan manipulasi dalam Pilkada Labuhan Batu Selatan 2015 yang berujung pada diberhentikannya mereka oleh DKPP. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menjawab pertanyaan: âMengapa terjadi manipulasi dalam Pilkada Labuhan Batu Selatan tahun 2015?â Dengan menggunakan metode kualitati serta pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam dan studi dokumen, artikel ini menjelaskan bagaimana konteks awal terjadinya manipulasi, proses-proses yang terjadi setelahnya saat Pilkada berlangsung, dan penjelasan mengapa terjadi manipulasi disertai analisis dengan menggunakan kerangka teori manipulasi Pemilu. Sedikit berbeda dengan argumen pada umumnya bahwa manipulasi dalam pemilu terjadi karena adanya kepentingan memastikan kemenangan petahana agar bisa melewati batas menang minimal, artikel ini berargumen bahwa manipulasi dalam Pilkada Labuhan Selatan tahun 2015 disebabkan adanya kombinasi antara kepentingan memenangkan petahana dan kelemahan dalam aturan tentang proses rekrutmen penyelenggara Pilkada.Â

The inception of social groups nowadays believed as positive indication cultivation of democracy in some country, including Indonesia. The existence of social group aims to create a social change better and gratify the people interest. One of the social group is student movement that in any political event has become the pioneer for social change. This article aims to analyze how does democracy become important factor to a social movement, particularly student movement to an occurrence of social change in Indonesia. This research using a qualitative descriptive method to analyze how is social movement and democracy in Indonesia, especially related to student movement through to social change. As a result that student movement is the most important thing to realizing social change. As an agent of change, the idealism of student is valued indicator-weather social change has moved as well or perhaps full of political interest. The student movement also becomes indicator for sustainability of democracy.Â

Although Indonesia is an archipelagic state, but the discourse on maritime state is not yet becomeÂ the main discourse in the construction of nation and state of Indonesia. This discourse is reemergedÂ when President Joko Widodo make it as one of the main strategic agenda of hisadministration. The re-emerging of this maritime nation discourse is interesting to be studied inÂ terms of nationalism, as an attempt to reconstructing the Indonesian national identity imagination.Â By tracking the dynamics of the arguments that enliven the discourse in Indonesian politics, thisÂ paper wants to uncover why this discourse re-emerged and what is the political interests behind thereimagination of Indonesian nationalism.

Simultaneous local election 2017 which was held in February 15th, 2017 remains an interesting political phenomenon. From 101 areas (province, municipality, and city) that held local elections, there are 9 (nine) areas whose local election consist of single candidate. The most interesting case is Local Election in Pati. Compared with other eight areas, the amount of votes gained by âkotak kosongâ in Local Election in Pati is the highest among the others. Besides that, unlike other seven areas, in Pati there is a group that propose choice of âkotak kosongâ like in Buton Municipality. This article tries to answer question: âHow are the strategies and roles of group of âkotak kosongâ cause the number of votes of âkotak kosongâ gain the highest number of votes among eight other areas? This research uses the qualitative approach with the method of data collections are: depth interviews, observation, and collecting news related from internet. This research reveals that the roles of group of âkotak kosongâ are focusing on the specific isu and benefiting their members, increasing their level, and using their power. Besides that, the group of âkotak kosongâ used strategies, such as using lobby strategy, opening the access to policy makers and mobilizing their resources, mobilizing voters, controlling information to voters, and doing advocacy. Â Â

Pada pemilihan kepala daerah (Pilkada) Jawa Timur 2018, terdapat dua koalisi partai yang koheren dengan budaya lokal dan dukungan massa yang besar. Di satu pihak, Khofifah dan Emil Dardak diusung oleh: Partai Demokrat, Partai Nasional Demokrasi, Partai Persatuan Pembangunan, Partai Hanura, Partai Golongan Karya, Partai Amanat Nasonal, dan Partai Gerakan Indonesia Raya. Di pihak lain, Syaifullah Yusuf dan Puti Guntur Soekarno diusung oleh Partai Kebangkitan Bangsa, Partai Demokrasi Indonesia Perjuangan, dan Partai Keadilan Sejahtera. Kontestasi tersebut menarik untuk diamati mengingat Jawa Timur merupakan provinsi yang memiliki keunikan budaya yang beragam dan sangat menghargai budaya lokal. Terlebih lagi, kedua kandidat tersebut sama-sama memiliki peluang untuk memenangkan pemilu. Artikel ini mencoba untuk menggambarkan peluang kemenangan masing-masing kandidat melalui pemetaan yang terkait dengan kekuatan, kelemahan, peluang, dan ancaman. Kajian ini dibangun dengan metode kualitatif deskriptif untuk menguraikan pemetaan politik menjelang Pilkada. Koalisi-koalisi yang dibentuk memiliki kans kemenangan yang sama. Namun, hanya mereka yang mampu membaca dan memahami kondisi masyarakat, termasuk budayanya, dan karakteristik komunitas yang memiliki keunggulan pada Pilkada.Â
