Abstract

Learning results are the results that achieved by someone after learning activities and the assessment achieved by someone to determine the extent to which the materials or material taught has accepted the students. However, based on experience researchers for teaching in SMK Satya Widya Surabaya, students mathematic learning result who taught by the method konventional such as the method is quite low. So that's why, it is necessary learning alternative model can enhance learning result. One of alternative that can be used is IMPROVE learning model based it will be used IMPROVE learning model in a class action research, the results of research that by using the IMPROVE learning model can increase the understanding of the concept of student so that the student results also increase. Overall after the application of a class action cycle 1 to cycle 2 with learning model improv on material SPLDV can increase the understanding of the concept of so that the student learning result in grade X aph 4 SMK "pariwisata" Satya widya Surabaya also increase. Abstract

Students should know as that the importance of konsep. If the students gets a problem in solving mathematical problems related to the concept of the problem can be solved easily if the concept is understood in advance. For that, if students find problems which will be described in the discussion later that students will solve the problems about the geometry and the plane side as prerequisites must understand the concept of matter flat first. Of the above problems, as educator need to better understand character of the student, lest there favorite toward them. It will make the student themselves tend to be lazy and no curiosity about the material that is being taught. Thus, educator must work harder to make the students better. Abstract

At the end of the decade was diverse any researches has been done regarding understanding. Pegg and Tall (2005) identified two types of theories of cognitive growth of global and local. Dubinsky with APOS theory (action, process, object, scheme), Pirie & Kieren with the model of understanding.layer (level). Pirie &Kieren (1994) has provided a theoretical framework of eight levels (layers) of understanding, namely; i) primitive knowing, ii) image making, iii) image having, iv) property noticing, v) formalizing, vi) observing, vii) structuring and viii) inventising. Martin (2008) describes a framework in folding back the three elements, namely i) the source of folding back, ii) the form of folding back and iii) the results of folding back. Guided by the model Pirie & Kieren and indicator of the form of folding back of Martin, research was conducted on student teachers. Devices in the interview given problem based task is to find the derivative of function f(x) = (2x + 4)4(1-3x)5. After the interview was analyzed, be concluded that: 1. The subject with high-math capable outermost achieving layer of understanding that inventising. This subject meets the indicators understanding of image making, image having, property noticing, observing, formlising, structuring. Even up to the last layer of the subjects had a complete understanding of the derivative function structured form of the product of two polynomial functions, answering questions, write and explain the application of the concept of the derivative function in Physics. 2. The subject of being reached lining mathematical capable outermost achieving layer of understanding primitive  knowing, not reaching the formalizing because he only uses derivative chain rule function composition, but are not able to mention the name of the rule. This subject did folding back form "cause discontinuous".3.The subject lower mathematical ability is not on the innermost layer (primitive knowing)

Abstract

This research is development, aims to describe the process and produce a goodlearning tool development with learning cycle 5E models on material integral in class XII IPA. Process of learning tool development used in this research is modification of learning tool development model according to Thiagarajan, Semmel & Semmel consisting of definition phase, design phase, development phase, and dissemination phase. But in this research is until the development phase only without conducting dissemination. Learning device produced in the form of: (1) Lesson Plan (RPP), (2) Student Worksheet (LKS), and (3) Learning Outcomes (THB). Beside of learning documents research instruments used were validation sheets of learning documents, observation sheet of teacher skills in learning management, students activity observation sheets, and questionnaire for students responses. As for the criteria of a good learning device meets three aspects: (1) valid, (2) practical, and (3) effective. Based on test result obtained that the learning documents of Learning Cycle 5E models are in good quality and meets three aspects: (1) valid, (2) practical, and (3) effective. (1) declared valid by the validator and the learning outcomes test meet the criteria for a valid, reliable, and sensitive, (2) practical, which is expressed by the average value of learning is the ability of teachers to manage a minimum of four, so that means the ability of teachers to manage learning is good, and (3) effective, which is of the students response positive a learning component and classical learning completeness reached.Keywords: Development Equipment, Learning Cycle 5E, Integral

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah melihat efektivitas penerapan model pembelajaran AIR (Auditory, Intellectualy, Repetition) dan Model Pembelajaran Course Review Horaydalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematika bagi siswa SMA. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya pemahaman konsep matematika yang menyebabkan minat belajar siswa juga sangat rendah dalam pelajaran matematika. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode gabungan penelitian eksperimen dan penelitian deskriptif. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah Randomized Control Group Only Design. Dari analisis data yang dilakukan terlihat bahwa terdapat peningkatan pemahaman konsep matematika setelah menerapkan model pembelajaran AIR dan Model Pembelajaran Course Review Horay.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' mathematics learning outcomes of class VII G SMPN 48 Surabaya by applying the Tutor Sebaya method of learning. This research is a classroom action research (PTK). The subjects of the study were Class VII G SMPN 48 Surabaya, amounting to 38 students. The indicator of success in this study is determined by 70% of students complete learning. This research was conducted in two cycles with four stages of implementation, namely action planning, action implementation, observation or evaluation, and reflection. Data collection techniques of this study are tests, observations and documents. The results of this study indicate that the application of peer tutoring method on the subject of Algebra Shape can improve student learning outcomes of class VII G SMPN 48 Surabaya. This is shown in the improvement of the learning outcomes of each cycle that is on the pre-cycle result percentage of completeness of 23.68% has not reached the criteria of success, as well as in the first cycle of the completion percentage of 36.84% has not reached the criteria of success, as well as on the second cycle of the completion percentage of 71.05% has reached the expected success criteria. Keywords : Peer tutor method, the result of learning mathematics

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low result of learning mathematics SMK SMK Senopati Sedati Sidoarjo, with formulation of the problem is: is there any influence of cooperative learning model type Teams Games Tournament (TGT) to the learning outcomes matrix class X-G Skills Program RPL SMK Senopati Sedati Sidoarjo?. In accordance with the formulation of the problem, then the purpose of this research is to know is there any influence Cooperative learning model type Teams Games Tournament (TGT) to the learning outcomes matrix class X-G Skills Program RPL SMK Senopati Sedati Sidoarjo. This study is a quasi-experimental design with control grop Nonequivalent design. The study population was all students of class X SMK Senopati Sedati Sidoarjo in Semester II Academic Year 2015/2016 and as samples 59 students are 29 students in grade XG as a class experiment using TGT learning model and 30 graders XF as the control class using conventional methods, Collecting data in this study using a written test. Obtained t > t table (2,757 > 2.00) at the level of 95% which means that H0 rejected and H1 accepted. Thus the test results, we can conclude learning outcomes TGT model is better than the conventional method. In other words, there is the influence of cooperative learning model Teams Games Tournament (TGT) to the learning outcomes matrix class X-G RPL SMK Senopati Sedati Sidoarjo. Abstract

This study was intended to get description and explanation about organizational change happening in the institution of higher education of health personnel of the health polytechnic. The research approach used was qualitative research with the phenomenon analysis at the Health Polytechnic of Surabaya based on management perspective. The results of the study were as follows: (1) to enable the institution be able to follow the development of the globalization era and the progress in education so that   the management of educational institutions were becoming increasingly clear and well focused in terms of the development of the organization, the management of educational program, the career path development of teaching staff in the future, (2) the performance achievement of efficiency in organizing the institution, (3) organization resources were becoming large, big, and complete to fulfill the need. (4) authority and creativity were limited, (5) less of autonomy of the academy after being just study programs, (6) loss of certain existed positions previously in the organization

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the profile of understanding layers of understanding the concept of the function’s derivative and folding back college student prospective teachers of mathematics by gender. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach . The data obtained is validated, then the analysis step-by- step reduction, data presentation, categorization, interpretation and inference. The analysis process is guided to the understanding of the model which hypothesizes Pirie&Kieren owned eight layers understanding students. The results showed that there was no difference between the achievement of a layers of understanding of the subject of women and man, both of them have an indicator layers of understanding ie; primitive knowing, image making, image having, property noticing, formalising, observing and structuring, then reaching also the first indicator (In1) of inventising layer, and indicators "ask questions about graphs the third-degree polynomial function" that leads to the second indicator (In2) of inventising layer. Based on the indicators of these, both subjects can be put in a category understanding layer ie oida inventising. But both subjects distinc 10 (ten) items the process of achieving this understanding, including in providing an example of a polynomial of fourth degree, woman began with equations, determining the intersections with the X-axis or the line x=k, drawing the X-axis and Y-axis, plot the points of intersection, divide into several intervals, then calculate some value functions to perform each test point intervals, and then describe the graph. Meanwhile, the man gave an example of a polynomial of fourth degree in the form of images, then determine the similarities, each interval point test done to test and verify that the correct graph drawn afterwards. Women made twice folding back the form of "off-topic", and man made that once. Instead of man performed twice folding back the form "working on the deeper layers", both subjects do not perform folding back the form "cause discontinuous".Key words : understanding layers, folding back, gender

Abstract

Evaluating students’ achievement is one significant part of teachers’ pedagogical competency. However, teachers should give problems in vary to their students. The ability of the teachers in developing the new problem from the existing or available problems is necessary to be mastered. This paper aimed to analyze preservice teachers’ techniques in developing new problems. Twenty-nine preservice teachers who had experience in internship program were given three mathematical problems each in probability, trigonometry and number and pattern. They were asked to generate new problems from those problems given. The techniques used by the teachers on generating new problems from the original problems were analyzed and classified as replacement, addition, modification, contextualizing the problem, turning around the problem, and reformulation technique. In summary, teachers are most frequently taking the same given information but changing the problem from the old one. Teachers were still unfamiliar to turn the problem around by taking the end goal as given and the given as the end goal. The implication of this study is lecturers of mathematics education program especially in the subject that contains assessment and evaluation need to consider about developing the preservice teachers’ ability to generate new problems from the old or existing problem given in all types of the development.
