Abstract

This study aimed to compare the mathematical connection ability of students who took mathematics learning with generative learning models and direct learning models. This quasi-experimental study used the posttest-only control group design. The population in the study was 212 people in class X TKJ SMK Informatics Santu Petrus Ruteng spread across six classes, and two classes were chosen as research samples using simple random sampling. The results of the calculation of the normality and homogeneity test as the prerequisite for the t-test showed that the data from the two groups are normally distributed with homogeneous variance. Then the hypothesis test is done using t-test to see the mathematical connection ability. Based on the analysis of the data obtained that the mathematical connection ability of students who use generative learning models is higher than those using direct learning models.

Abstract

Mathematical communication skills are abilities that must be possessed by students in learning mathematics so that students can convey ideas or ideas both verbally and in writing. Based on the results of observations made at SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Kota Tangerang, students' mathematical communication skills are still low. Responding to these problems, teachers need to apply cooperative learning models. One type of cooperative learning model that can train students' mathematical communication skills is Numbered Head Together (NHT). The purpose of this study is to investigate the improvement in mathematical communication skills of students who get Numbered Head Together (NHT) learning higher than students who get conventional learning. This study uses a quasi experimental design type nonequivalent control group design. The population in this study were 4 grade VIII students of SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Kota Tangerang and the sample of this study were students of grades VIII.2 and VIII.3. The sampling technique uses cluster random sampling. The research hypothesis was tested with a nonparametric test, namely Mann Whitney because the sample in this study amounted to 38 students from two classes VIII.2 and class VIII.3. The results showed that the increase in mathematical communication skills of students who obtained mathematics learning with the Numbered Head Together (NHT) model was higher than students who obtained conventional learning.

Abstract

This research was conducted because of the students' low ability to solve mathematical problems. The aim of this research is commited to increase the mathematical problem solving abilities of VIII E students in second semester of SMP Negeri 2 Sewon academic year of 2018/2019 using the Rigorous Mathematical Thinking (RMT) learning approach. This type of research is Class Action Research (CAR). This research consists of two cycles where each cycle consists of three meetings. The subjects of this study were students of class VIII E, amounting to 30 students, consisting of  20 male students and 10 female students. The object of this research is students' mathematical problem solving abilities using the RMT approach. Data collection techniques used in the form of observation instruments, tests, interviews. Data analysis techniques were carried out by qualitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that learning with the RMT approach can improve students' mathematical problem solving abilities. The results of the analysis of cycle test assessment sheets in Cycle I percentage of students' ability to solve problems was 65.56% with sufficient categories. While the results of the analysis of cycle test assessment sheets in Cycle II the percentage of students' ability to solve problems was 79.72% with good categories. From these results there was an increase in students' ability to solve mathematical problems by 14.16%.

Abstract

This research purpose to description students’ error in solving problem of two dimension and effort defragmentation. Error analysis which execute base on concept construction error theory that include logical thinking error and hole contruction. This research done execute on students junior high school at eight grade of SMP in Pasuruan who finished two dimension material. Research subject is chose by students who are did mistake considerate of finishing comprehensiveness of students problem base Newman’s steps. From the result research was found that the students’ concept construction error in solving problem is erroring logic thinking and contruction hole. Defragmenting that id did by researcher is giving conflict cognitive to repar logic thinking error and appear scheme which still not build through scaffolding to hole that occur on students’ thinking structure.

Abstract

The purpose of the research to find out whether the increase in mathematical problem solving abilities of students using the LAPS-Heuristic learning model is better than the mathematical problem solving abilities of students who use conventional learning models, how students' learning activeness attitudes towards mathematics learning using the LAPS-Heuristic learning model, and obstacles in completing problems solving. The research method used was a quasi-experimental research design with Nonequivalent control group design. The experimental class obtained learning with the LAPS-Heuristic learning model and the control class with conventional learning models. The participant in this research is all of students at seven grade. The samples used were two classes from eleven classes selected by purposive sampling technique. To obtain data from the research results, a problem solving ability test instrument was used, a questionnaire on student learning activeness, and an interview. Based on the results of data analysis the improvement of students 'mathematical problem solving abilities using the LAPS-Heuristic learning model is better than students who use conventional learning models, the students' learning activeness in the LAPS-Heuristic learning model is almost entirely positive. The obstacles experienced by students in solving the problems of mathematical problem solving abilities are that students find it difficult to understand question the problem solving abilities so that it is difficult to develop a plan to solve problems that cause obstacles in counting operations that require accuracy.

Abstract

Imitation-related studies have been widely studied in children with autism, infants and young children. Imitation in the learning process is inseparable. The study of imitation in adults and school-aged children is still rarely studied, so the researcher was interested in conducting imitation-related research in mathematical communication in junior high school learners of class VII in one of the public schools in Bangil, Pasuruan, Indonesia. The type of the research was a qualitative research. The main instrument in this study was the researcher herself. The data sources in research were in the form of learner works, interview recordings, and field notes. The results showed that junior high school learners of class VII who became the subject of this research in communicating the completion of mathematical problems in doing an imitation towards elementary school teachers (primary school).The finding in this study was that personal closeness truly affects the imitations made by students in solving mathematical problems.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine wether the improvement of students' mathematical communication skills using the IMPROVE learning model is better than the improvement of students' mathematical communication skills using the conventional method, and also to find out the students' thinking habits towards mathematics learning through the IMPROVE learning model. This research was conducted at SMPN 1 Bojongpicung grade VII of the 2018-2019 school year. The method used is a quasi experiment method with nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design research. This research involved a sample of 64 students divided into two classes. One class as the experimental group that received learning with the IMPROVE learning model and then another one as the control group that was used the ordinary learning method. Sampling is done by purposive sampling technique. To get the data of the research results, the researcher used a mathematical communication ability test instrument and questionnaire for students' thinking habits. Data processing enhances students' mathematical communication skills using Mann Whitney, habitual data thinking students use the percentage of answers for each student. Based on data analysis, the improvement of students' mathematical communication skills using the IMPROVE learning model is better than increasing students' mathematical communication skills using conventional method, and students' thinking habits are positive towards the learning mathematics using the IMPROVE learning model.
