Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of cooperative learning model of TPS type with the rubbik props to the students' self efficacy on the material of cube and beam grade VIII MTs Putra-Putri Simo in the academic year 2016/2017. Data collection techniques used were observations in mathematics learning. Data analysis in this research by using difference test mean. Based on the results of the analysis it is known that the samples are nomal and homogeny distributed, and there is influence of cooperative learning model of TPS type with the rubbik props to student self efficacy.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low ability of students' mathematical understanding and the use of model and instructional media given by teachers during this time is still less effective because the dominant learning model is centered on the teacher that is conventional learning. The purpose of this study is to determine whether or not there is a significant difference between students’ mathematical understanding abilities that follow Knisley's mathematical learning model (MPMK) using colorful plot media with students' mathematical understanding abilities that follow conventional learning. This research was conducted in MTs. Putra-Putri Simo from VII class on triangular material with sample of 30 students as experiment class and 30 student of control class. Data collection method used is a test method consisting of pretest and posttest ability of mathematical understanding. Data analysis in this research is by using distribution normality test, sample homogeneity test, and t-test. Based on the result of data analysis, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between students 'mathematical understanding abilities that follow Knisley's mathematical learning model (MPMK) using colorful plot media and students' mathematical understanding abilities that follow conventional learning.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the profile of written mathematics communication in the mathematics problems solving of SMP in terms of the mathematics ability. This research is a qualitative research because the main data about the accuracy, completeness, and fluency of written mathematics communication in the form of written words. Subjects consisted of one student with high, medium, and low mathematics ability. The results of research indicate that the accuracy of written mathematics communication of students with high and medium mathematics ability is equally accurate for any information submitted. The accuracy of written mathematics communication of students with low mathematics ability is accurate to write the things that are known and asked and use rule. The completeness of written mathematics communication of students with high mathematics ability is complete for any information submitted. The completeness of written mathematics communication of students with medium mathematics ability is complete for information submitted except calculation. The completeness of written mathematics communication of students with low mathematics ability is complete for information submitted except for drawing/sketching and performing calculations. The fluency of written mathematics communication students with high and medium mathematics ability is equally fluent. The fluency of written mathematics communication students with low mathematics ability is not fluent.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is 1) to know and identify the mistake of the most (dominant) student of grade X of Catholic Senior High School Rantepao in solving the comparative problem of trigonometry based on criterion of Watson's error, 2) to know the factors causing the student to make mistake in solving the problem comparative tales of trigonometry for each category of Watson's error. The research is descriptive qualitative research using Case Study method. The results of this study indicate the type of error that most students do when working on the problem of trigonometric comparison is the error category above other/ao with the percentage of 21.28%, then the next error is the error category appropriate data/id with percentage 19.1%, followed by error the response rate conflict / rlc category is 17.02%, then the wrong category/ip error and the undirect manipulation/um error with the same percentage, ie 12.8%, then the error type which also has the same percentage rate of 8.5 % is omitted data/od category error and omitted conclusion/oc category error. Factors for each type of error are presented in the discussion and conclusions.

Abstract

Sebelas pola berbeda jaring-jaring kubus tidak dikenali sebagian besar siswa (Shadiq, 2006). Pembelajaran jaring-jaring kubus dikenalkan dengan suatu media yang berbentuk kubus. Media tersebut dipotong berdasarkan rusuknya sedemikian sehingga terbentuk satu jaring-jaring kubus. Untuk menemukan pola jaring-jaring kubus yang lain dibutuhkan media lagi yang serupa. Penggunaan media seperti itu kurang efektif untuk menemukan berbagai macam pola jaring-jaring kubus. Media kubus guling berwarna (meku-guwa) adalah salah satu alternatif untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut. Satu meku-guwa dapat menentukan berbagai macam pola jaring-jaring kubus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keefektivan penggunaan media kubus guling berwarna dalam menemukan pola jaring-jaring kubus. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 5 siswa kelas VII MTs Amanatul Ummah Surabaya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 4 siswa dari 5 siswa yang berhasil menemukan minimal 5 pola berbeda jaring-jaring kubus dalam waktu 30 menit. Hasil ini memberikan arti bahwa penggunaan media kubus guling berwarna dalam menemukan pola jaring-jaring kubus efektif.

Abstract

THE APPLICATION OF PROBLEM CENTERED LEARNING APPROACH TO ENHANCE THE ABILITY TO THINK LATERAL MATHEMATICAL OF STUDENTS OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL Ayen Arsisari, M.Pd Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika STKIP Muhammadiyah Bangka Belitung Jl. Ahmad Dahlan KM 4 Pangkalanbaru, Ayenarsisari@yahoo.co.id ABSTRACT This research is based on the issues of lowness of lateral thinking ability of junior high school students in mathematical lesson. The purpose of this research is to observe the upgrading of mathematical lateral thinking ability mathematical among students who received PCL (Problem Centered Learning) approach and conventional learning. This research is a research quasi experimental design with a non-control group equivalen using Purposive Sampling Technique which the subject is students in one of junior high school in Bandung, while the samples are students of experimental class which is amounted to 34 students and students of control class which is amounted to 34 students. The instruments that used are the initial mathematics ability test, test of the ability to think laterally mathematical and the sheets of teacher and students observation. Quantitative analysis is carried out using the average difference test and anova test two lines. The results show that (1) The upgrading of mathematical lateral thingking of students who received PCL approch is better than students who just received conventional learning; (2) There is the upgrading difference of mathematical lateral thinking of students who received PCL approachi viewed from the initial mathematics ability (high, middle, low) (3) There is interaction between the learning approach that used (PCL, conventional) with KAM (high, middle, low) and the upgrading mathematical lateral thinking of students;

Abstract

The reseach was aimed to find the teacher’s solution in assessing the students individually and authentically. The research used the method from literature review to get the problems of statement, the data collection, explanation, and creating conclusion and suggestion. The result of literature review was the steps of learning, those are: 1) Pre – learning activity which has observation, problems statement, problem reasoning and solution creating 2) Learning activity covered demonstrating the role (communicate) which was prepared, observating and evaluating each performance. Therefore, learning using combination between scientific approach and role playing method will ease the teacher in assessing the students in three aspects of learning assessment based on curriculum 2013.

Abstract

This paper tells about research and development result that has been aplicated into three steps, preliminary, small group trial, and field test. The preliminary steps included analysis of teaching materials; design and develop the teaching materials based problem solving with abductive-deductive strategy; perform validation by fou expert validator; and do the first revision. The small group trials included product trials to the six randomly selected student; and do the second revision. Single one shot case study research design has been used in this step. The field test included product trials to the 15 students that registered as Abstract Algebra lecturing participant at Mathematics Education Program in Muhammadiyah University of Sukabumi. Before-after research design has been used in this step. The instruments that used in this research are observation sheet, validation sheet, interview guide, students’ response scale, performance assessment sheet of teaching materials, and test of students’ mathematical proof ability. Result of this research showed that teaching materials based problem solving with abductive-deductive strategy is a good category. Effectivity of teaching materials usage evaluated by students’ comprehension speed, students’ interested, students’ creativity, and students’ learning outcomes significantly better than learning effectivity without teaching materials. Effectivity of teaching materials usage evaluated by students’ mathematical proof significantly better than learning effectivity without teaching materials. Therefore, teaching materials based problem solving with abductive-deductive strategy has been valid, practice, and effective to use.

Abstract

Mathematics need another knowledge to be perfect for himself, therefore, enables mathematics to develop broadly. The presentation should be able to get rid of the contradiction between theory and reality. Likewise logic as the science of thinking/reasoning will continue to experience growth.Classical logic or formal logic have only spiked on a symbol. If the logic problem changed its character in the problems of everyday life, and trying to achieve a more complex understanding of the dialectics run. Until it is concluded that the proper and appropriate character issues. Criticism or disagreement is intended to enrich the material to think about the logic.

Abstract

Reasoning ability and mathematical disposition are cognitive and affective abilities which require impovements. This study aims to examine the interaction between students’ early mathematical ability and instructions in improving their reasoning ability and mathematical disposition. This research implemented abductive-deductive strategy and expository learning at the 11th grade classes of a state senior high school in Pati regency, Central Java, Indonesia. The researcher carried out a nonrandomized experimental-control group with pretest-posttest design. Quantitative analysis based on early mathematical ability (high, medium, low) was used to analyze the data. The results showed that the interaction between early mathematical ability and learning gave significant impact in improving the students’ reasoning ability. However, the interaction between early mathematical ability and learning gave no significant impact in improving the students’ mathematical disposition. These findings indicated that in learning, especially in improving reasoning ability, students’ early mathematical ability need to be considered. Yet, to improve mathematical disposition, students’ early mathematical ability gave no significant effect thus further studies to find out the influence of other factors need to be done.
