Abstract

The aims of this research were to improve the fifth grade of Muhammadiyah 4 Batu Elementary School students’ understanding of geometry concept by using manipulative objects. This research was a Classroom Action Research with qualitative approach. The research was conducted to 32 fifth grade students of elementary school and the subject of the interview consisted of 4 students which were chosen based on the results of the final test. Learning activities of the research were held in two cycles. The first cycle learning activities were not successful since the final test had not yet fulfilled the minimum mastery criteria. In the second cycle, the successful criteria had been fulfilled, in which the class got 84% for the minimum mastery criteria, which passed the classical KKM 80%. The results of the study were as follows: 1) learning by using manipulative objects can improve the understanding of geometry concept especially for properties of plane, 2) students looked happy during the teaching and learning process by using manipulative objects.

Abstract

TIMSS 2011 and PISA 2012 results for mathematical communication skills of junior high school are considered low. One of eforts to increase their mathematical communication skills are using of problem solving method. Problem solving method gived opportunity for student to express of mathematic idea in coherent to their teacher or another students, so they can practice their mathematical communication skill. This case is the background for reasearcher to do some research in mathematical communication skill using problem solvig method. The purpose of this research is to increased mathematical communication skill of students. Type of this research is quasi experiment with nonequivalen control group design which is compare of control class with experiment class. Population for this reasearch are students second grade in junior high school 2 Pagedangan. Samples for this reasearch is students in VIII 5 class with 31 students as control class and students in VIII 6 class with 30 students as experiment class. In control class, learning activity using conventional method while in experiment class using problem solving method. Data in this research are collected with giving pretest question and posttest question as analysis question. Testing of hypotheses using with normality test and mann-whitney test. Result from this research are increased mathematical communication skill for students in experiment class which is used problem solving method are better tahn increased mathematical communication skill for students in control class which is used conventional method. Another result is positive attitude of students to mathematic learning used problem solving method.

Abstract

This research specifically aims to analyze the ability of mathematical proof, to analyze learning difficulties in terms of student epistemology on the material of transformation geometry. The long-term benefit of this study is the study of learning difficulties in terms of student epistemology related to mathematical proofing in the course of transformation geometry, is expected to provide encouragement to other lecturers to further develop the learning process or teaching materials in an effort to develop mathematical proof of mathematics students. This research uses descriptive method, while the subject of research is 9 students of Unswagati mathematics teacher candidate who contracted the course of transformation geometry. Methods of data collection used include: (1) test of mathematical proof capability; (2) observation; (3) interviews; and (4) documentation. The research results obtained there are 5 kinds of student difficulties viewed from epistemology related to the geology of transformation geometry, namely a) difficulty learning related difficulties in applying the concept; b) learning difficulties related to visualizing geometric objects; c) learning difficulties with difficulty in determining principles; d) learning difficulties related to understanding problems and e) related difficulties in mathematical proofing. Especially in mathematical proofing, students have difficulties such as: not knowing how to start construction of evidence, unable to use known concepts and principles, and tend to start construction of evidence with what must be proven.

Abstract

Mathematics is a lesson that most students do not like. This, resulting in low mathematical learning outcomes. Therefore, in order to optimize the results of learning mathematics is required interactive and innovative teaching materials. The utilization of teaching materials based on interactive multimedia is an alternative solution that is needed to the problem. So the purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of the use of interactive multimedia-based teaching materials to the results of learning mathematics. The measured mathematical learning results include affective, psychomotor and cognitive spheres. The method used in this study is a qualitative research design with One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The study population used class VII in MTsN 8 Losari. With class study sample VII A by random sampling. Data collection was done before and after being treated which was obtained through math test, then analyzed using linear regression test. it was found that interactive multimedia usage response was in a good category with 74% percentage. In the affective domain is in the good category with a percentage of 74%. While in the psychomotor realm is in a good category by obtaining 77.5% percentage. In addition, the results of pretest (33.22) and posttest (85.84) averaged, then an increase of 44%. When viewed from hypothesis test by using regression test; 1) ineffective learning result, interactive multimedia influence 15,5%, 2) learning result of the psychomotor domain, multimedia affects 15,8%, and 3) in multimedia cognitive domain influence 11,4%. This shows that there is the influence of interactive multimedia usage to the three aspects of student learning result of mathematics

Abstract

The purpose of this research is (1) to produce products LKS based Learning Cycle (5E), (2) to know whether the resulting LKS meets the valid criteria and (3) by using this LKS, understanding concept of student can be improved. This research is a Research and Development (RnD). The produre used is defining, planning, and development. The technique of data collection in this research is form of validation experts to 3 validators, test questions, and questionnaire. The technique of questionnaire data analysis used in expert validation and students respond to LKS developed, beside that test question are used in the assessment of students learning outcomes. The result of this research and development is: (1) Based on the form validation of three validators is the expert of media by 80% (very valid category), the expert of materials by 80% (very valid category), and the teacher by 90% (very valid category). (2) The percentage of students learning outcomes reached 50%, the percentage of students questionnaire responses reached 71.56% (positive category). (3) The result of the analysis of the indicators of concept understanding ability are obtained, the first indicator reached 100%, the second indicator reached 58.33%, the third indicator reached 33.33%, the fourth indicator reached 41.67%, the fifth indicator reached 100%, the sixth indicator reached 50%, and the seventh indicator reached 100%.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan hubungan dan nilai kontribusi antara kecerdasan spiritual dan kecerdasan matematis logis terhadap penyelesaian masalah pembuktian dan kecemasan matematika. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa program studi pendidikan matematika yang terdiri dari dua kelas. Sampel diambil secara random menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling. Sampel terdiri dari tiga puluh lima mahasiswa di kelas A. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah tes kecerdasan matematika dan tes penyelesaian masalah pembuktian pada mata kuliah logika matematika. Pengumpulan data kecerdasan spiritual dan kecemasan matematika menggunakan instrumen angket. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif yang melibatkan metode korelasi dan regresi berganda untuk analisis data. Analisis data juga menggunakan korelasi kanonik untuk menemukan nilai kontribusi dan hubungan secara simultan antara kecerdasan spiritual dan kecerdasan matematis logis terhadap nilai penyelesaian masalah pembuktian dan kecemasan matematika. Hasil penelitian dapat diringkas sebagai berikut. (1) terdapat hubungan positif secara simultan antara kecerdasan spiritual dan kecerdasan matematis logis terhadap hasil penyelesaian masalah pembuktian. Nilai kontribusinya adalah 95,2%, (2) terhadap hubungan negatif secara simultan antara kecerdasan spiritual dan kecerdasan matematis logis terhadap kecemasan matematika. Nilai kontribusinya adalah 95,4%, (3) terdapat hubungan yang signifikan secara simultan antara kecerdasan spiritual dan kecerdasan matematis logis terhadap hasil penyelesaian masalah pembuktian dan kecemasan matematika. Nilai korelasi kanonik sebesar 0,982 pada fungsi pertama. Selain itu, nilai square correlation sebesar 0,963 yang berarti bahwa kovariat variabel kanonik mampu menunjukkan variasi sebesar 96,43% pada variabel kanonik terikat.

Abstract

The aims of this study are to examine students’ mathematical critical and creative thinking ability achievement in experiment and control group based on Project-Based Inquiry Learning (PIL). This study is quasi-experimental research with non-equivalent control group design. The whole students of eight grader in one of Public Junior High School in Balikpapan, Academic year 2018/2019 were selected as population. The sample for this study, two classes are taken as experiment class who get Project-Based Inquiry Learning (PIL) and control class who get conventional learning by using purposive sampling technique. The data of mathematical critical and creative thinking ability were analyzed by Mann Whitney non parametric test. The results of this study show that: (1) the ability of students’ mathematical critical thinking on Project-Based Inquiry Learning (PIL) classroom is not better than the conventional class; (2) the ability of students’ mathematical creative thinking on Project-Based Inquiry Learning (PIL) classroom is better than the conventional class

Abstract

Mathematics learning is a subject that prioritizes strong conceptual understanding. This makes the teachers have to use the right model and strategy in conveying to the students that understanding the concept can be optimal. So that the learning in this study uses the REACT strategy. This strategy links teaching material with circumstances around. By using this REACT strategy in learning there is an increase in students' understanding of exponential function material with the REACT approach. This is indicated by the change in test score I, which is 62 to 82 in the second test. In addition, it can also be seen from the results of a questionnaire that shows an increase in student understanding.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the difficulties faced by Vocational High School students in working on problem solving test that were reviewed based on students' mathematical disposition. The research method used is descriptive analysis method to analyze available and processed data to obtain a clear picture of the facts and the relationship between the phenomena studied. The sample in this study was Vocational High School student class XI Accounting in Cimahi. The result of this study base on. students' mathematical disposition is students have difficulties in almost every indicator of problem solving ability. This is caused by several factors such as students who are not used to facing problem solving test. Efforts can be made to overcome student difficulties, such as using innovative learning approaches and media.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tingkat kecenderungan strategi peserta didik berdasarkan tingkat kemampuan tinggi, sedang, rendah, serta secara klasikal dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal SPLDV dari empat metode yang sudah dipelajari.Metode penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif, subyek penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas VIII yang berjumlah 20 peserta didik di MTs Salafiyah Menganti Gresik. Teknik pengumpulan datanya melalui tes 1 butir soal cerita dan wawancara yang dilakukan terhadap peserta didik terpilih berdasarkan hasil yang didapatkan, peserta didik terpilih yang termasuk ke dalam golongan kemampuan tinggi, sedang, rendah, dimana masing-masing dipilih dua peserta didik secara acak. Sebelum dilaksanakan penelitian, terlebih dahulu instrumen penelitian diajukan kepada dua orang validator dengan tujuan agar instrumen penelitian dapat dikatakan valid. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi yang digunakan oleh peserta didik dalam menyelesaikan soal SPLDV secara umum cenderung menggunakan cara eliminasi, sedangkan secara khusus cenderung dengan menggunakan cara eliminasi varibael y saja dengan jumlah persentase sebanyak 35% dengan kriteria rendah. Persentase secara umum untuk masing-masing cara adalah (1) grafik 0% dengan kriteria kecenderungan sangat rendah, (2) substitusi 20% dengan kriteria sangat rendah, (3) eliminasi 65% dengan kriteria cukup, (4) campuran 15% dengan kriteria sangat rendah.
